Well done daughter!
Well done daughter!
On finishing with firsts. Unfortunately she can't afford to come on the Turf these days, all her time is spent with a second job along with the unpaid placements that student nurses have to undertake to pay the ridiculous rents demanded by landlords in university areas. Hannah is expected to fork out £585 a month along with the four other students she shares the small terrace with in York.

Well done, as much as its hard work and underpaid, and undervalued by many sections of society, its still a great profession
I started my training at 23 and have been qualified 9 years now. Ive never regretted going into Nursing. Yes there is a lot of bad bits but there is so much variety, if you don't like one area its very easy to move. Also anyone that sticks around long enough gets promoted pretty swiftly these days.

Re: Well done daughter!
i think when i trained i was paying about 90 quid a week for a dump in hyde park in Leeds. Luckily when i trained i still got the bursary (tories decided that scraping that would encourage 50k more nurses into the profession). I still had to work but was only the odd Sunday working as a HCA for fairly decent tax free money as a student.

Yep, dunno how some landlords sleep at night.
Congratulations to your daughter. Some achievement, that. Bundles and bundles of passion, determination, intelligence and compassion for a job like that (an undervalued one too) which I'm sure she has in spades and spades.

My daughter loves her nursing job. New challenges every day and really making a difference to people’s lives. There is a huge amount of overtime but that gives her a very respectable salary.

Congratulations, if they were on double the money they are now they would still be underpaid, true heroes.

Re: Well done daughter!
Congratulations to her and the journey to being an Allied Health Professional.
I've worked for the NHS myself as a Band 2 and 3 HCA before I did my training as a Speech & Language Therapist where I now oversee a caseload of complex children and young people for their communication disorders.
These industries are amazing places to work with some great people. Very challenging, but very rewarding.
It's international beer day today mate so grab yourself a beer and raise a glass to her.

Snap, I'm so proud of my daughter (My daughter ask me to cover her identity up) the unpaid placements that student nurses have to are a bit of a killer but it will be worth it in the end.

Re: Well done daughter!
The placements are hard work for our girls. Hannah knew what she was getting into at the time, her first year was badly disrupted by lockdown but she's stuck to her guns and I'm proud of her and I know that she is going to be a useful addition to society.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 7:50 amSnap, I'm so proud of my daughter (My daughter ask me to cover her identity up) the unpaid placements that student nurses have to are a bit of a killer but it will be worth it in the end.
