Muric 7 his passing out from the back gives us such a different dimension.
Roberts 5 I thought he was really sluggish today.
THB 6 ok but a bit sloppy
Taylor 6
Maatsen 6
Cullen 6 good in phases
Cork 6
Costelloe 7 our best player first half
Brownhill 7 excellent finish
Bastien 5 thought he was very very quiet (not sure this position suits him).
Barnes 6 good in phases but also pretty abysmal in phases

Benson 6 looked good when he came on. Final ball needs to improve but I suspect that will after he is use to his team mates runs etc…
Vitinho 6 I thought he looked very sharp. Potentially pushing Bastien for a starting spot next game.

Muric 6
Roberts 5
Harwood-Bellis 6
Taylor 6
Maatsen 7 MOM
Cork 6 steady but when a team sits in its pace, creativity and movement we need
Cullen 6 gave it away early on quite a bit
Bastien 5 off it
Brownhill 7 great finish, but oh my even with the secret hand signals, his set plays are tosh
Costelloe 6 OK for a young lad, but naive and lacks the required quality out wide at this level
Barnes 4 deary me, lost the ball 4 times in succession, and the play broke down the majority if the time he got involved.
If he is starting in 2 weeks, it'll be a long old season infront of goal

Benson 5 has the pace, but end product was none existent, and fluffed a very good chance

I always felt the next 2 games post Huddersfield would show us what we are, and what's needed.
We created very little, and with no main threat out wide or pace up top we struggle to get in behind or stretch sides that are set up well and are are happy to sit in for either the draw, or when they score early on.

Overall I thought we edged the game but it shows the area of the pitch we know we are lacking. Real shame Twine is out as we could have done with his creativity.

Mixed bag containing the good bad & ugly ranging from 6 to 8, played a lot more fluid 2nd half, I hope this result can finally put an end to the post Huddersfield nonsense of this league being a walkover.

Muric - 5. His passing out the back is okay but he was positionally at sea many times. Will cost us points if he doesn't correct that.
Roberts - 6. Not his best showing but serviceable.
THB- 5. Bullied and made a shocking pass out from the back. Might need time to settle but he worries me.
Taylor-7. Better than I expected in this role.
Maatsen- 7. Wasn't as involved as Huddersfield but still an electric player. Unreal potential.
Cullen- 6. Couple of shaky moments first half, did better second. I'd have been tempted to sub him over Bastien purely to have more energy/legwork but he picked up.
Cork- 7. Nothing remarkable but dropped in well.
Bastien- 6. Had a few nice touches and moments but didn't do much with it, bit harsh to sub him I felt but he seems more of a box to box CM than this advanced playmaker role.
Brownhill -8. Middling first half, system change second half suited him to the ground and he really began to play well.
Costelloe- 6. Good first touch on him, confident for an inexperienced youngster, never shy but so raw. Did better wide left but I'd have hooked him much sooner, not a knock on the lad he'll get better but he's not there yet.
Barnes- 7. Better than I expected. Never a goal threat but involved in our goal and had some good link play. But we can't be relying on him as our main striker.

Benson- 7. Freshened us up immensely, end product was lacking but he stretched their defence, scared them and kept getting us forward. Not sure how many goals he'll directly contribute but he reinvigorated us after a sluggish first half.
Vitinho- N/A but looked bright in his brief moments. Should have been on much sooner.

All in all we still have work to do. Watford next week will be another big test.

Got battered 1st half and I feared the worst we were dreadful nobody deserved any mark over 5, fortunately Luton didn't extend their leed which they deserved.

2nd half we looked a different side we played some lovely football but lacked the cutting edge like we did at Huddersfield.

They barely had a chance aside from their goal??

We had 70% possession first half.

Not saying we were great, it was clearly too slow, but by no means were we battered.

From tv
Muric 7
Roberts 6 poor decision making today
THB 7 did well against big, strong strikers
Taylor 7 still not convinced he’s a centre back
Maatsen 8 cracking game, he covers a lot of grass well. Mom
Cork 7 good in bits
Cullen 7 didn’t get forward quickly like he did against Huddersfield
Bastien 6 couldn’t get into the game today
Brownhill 8 good performance, worked very hard in midfield and got the goal
Costello 7 good in bits but faded
Barnes 6 ended up falling over and arguing with the ref as usual. Needs replacing.

Benson 7 going to be a crowd pleaser, he has very good skills and pace.

Some people have an agenda to peddle remember.

We were comfortably the better team just never created enough moments against a team constantly shithousing it’s way through the game.

Luton looked like we did at times last year…..bang average, created few chances, physical and relying on set pieces as they had a lad who must have been 6ft 6.

We were off it ourselves today in first half….but still better than them and then in second half we were by far better team without playing as well as last week.

We will improve and bring in new players too…..Luton have no money and a half decent manager who gets the very best out of what are essentially league one and two players

Getting Battered was rather an exaggeration and
I agree with what you say.

Luton 2nd half game management was excellent with the help of the referee

Muric 6 - did he have to make a real save?
Roberts 6 - steady but didn't have enough zip going forward
Harwood-Bellis 6 - solid enough
Taylor 6 - steady
Maatsen 7 - busy and active throughout needs to add composure
Cullen 6 - not as impressive as last week but you can see the class
Cork 6 - kept it ticking, typical Jack
Brownhill 7 - probably the most lively of our midfield, took goal well
Bastien 5 - never got going really
Barnes 6 - grafted but isolated and not given enough service or support
Costelloe 6 - Decent but needs to improve delivery

Benson 7 - brought the team to life when he came on.

A really nervous opening, culminating in a really soft goal. We gradually grew into the half, and we were then much better when Benson came on. Played some nice stuff, but we are looking a bit toothless at the moment, but it's only to be expected when we've sold/released 4 strikers and 2 current ones are injured. Crying out for a link player, hence O'Hare I guess. No one played particularly badly?

Muric 7 - Looks eccentric, maybe should command his box a bit more, saved us on 45 mins when he blocked the 1 on 1
Roberts 7- Did well, will suit him having more attacking situations than previous
Harwood-Bellis 6- Not sure he's physical enough, but I guess you won't get much more physical than Luton
Taylor 6 - Did ok, but he must be wondering a bit where his future lies as Maatsen is far better at LB and we are looking to bring in a big CB
Maatsen 8 - Looks a class act this guy. Seems to be everywhere on the pitch
Cullen 6 - Steady, but not involved much
Cork 7 - Solid as per
Brownhill 7 - Good goal, should shoot more often!
Bastien 6 - Thought he was the worst of the midfield, but as a caveat I think he's currently filling in, in that position, he looks more of a deep-lying midfield stroller to me, so I give him a bit of a pass atm.
Barnes 6 - Should have scored in the second half, tried hard as always, but I don't think he suits this system at all
Costelloe 7 - Made some really clever runs, perhaps drifts wide too often rather than being in the box.

Subs:
Benson -7 Nearly an 8 but he looks a prospect. Always showed for the ball and never hid. End product was hit and miss.
Vitinho - 7 One bit of great skill, think he'll be a useful squad player.

Totally different game to Friday as the opponents were much more switched on, and we were chasing the game for the most part. Encouraging signs all round considering we need to bring in a CB and at least 3 more attacking options.

Yes Battered

The 0-1 score line flattered us with Luton letting us off the hook
They had one shot on goal in the first half? We had more attacks and more “dangerous” ones. They were physically stronger but that was all.

How many chances did they have whilst they were battering us.
Iam sure I was at the game, but reading your assessment perhaps I was dreaming

Muric - 6. I still don’t think I’ve seen him make a save of any note, so can’t really rate him properly. Passing was good but feel at some point he’s going to get caught out, which is the risk you take.

Roberts - 6. Okay. Nothing really much more to say.

THB - 6. Again, alright. Happy to put his body on the line which is a big plus. Sloppy pass toward the end almost cost us.

Taylor - 7. Looks fairly solid as a CB and whilst he doesn’t look that rapid compared to PL players who are almost universally fast, he nipped in ahead on a few occasions today.

Maatsen - 7. Good performance again. I’d like him to be more direct in the final 3rd as he is in the rest of the pitch.

Cullen - 7. Got more and more into the game as time went on and was a calming influence and contributed to build ups nicely.

Cork - 6. Decent enough, but feel we were a bit ponderous in possession in the first half and he was in part at fault for that.

Bastien - 5. I don’t think that role is right for him and it’s probably due to our squad depth. I suspect he’ll be battling for the deeper 2 roles when we have our attacking options tied up.

Brownhill - 8. Whereas I think this role is perfect for Browny. Constantly asking for the ball and trying to pass forward. Extra point for the well taken goal

Costelloe - 6 Quite a promising performance, although his decision making and vision need improvement. Felt he also was probably at fault for holding onto the ball too long.

Barnes - 5. Sorry Barnesy, this system doesn’t really play to your strengths. He was largely a passenger, and unfortunately if the refs are under instruction to “let more go” then they’re not gonna be buying his usual stunts.

Benson - 7. I felt the balance of the side looked much better upon his introduction. Looks pacy, direct and has it in him to beat a man. Some poor deliveries and snatched at a reasonable chance. Has to start the next game.

Vitinho - 6. Went past his man sublimely the first time and I was hoping he’d keep at him, but didn’t really turn the screw in the way I’d hoped.

Quite a positive performance and showed some resilience at times. We looked nervy in the opening moments and that’s what’s probably cost us the win. I felt that because we commit so many bodies to overrunning their midfield, some of our lads maybe forget that we also needed bodies in the box to finish off the chances created, particularly in the 2nd half.

It’s fairly plain to see that we need a different mould of striker to make the system more efficient. An Ings or Gray, off the shoulder type should be a priority please Vinny.

Gave away a soft goal after that neither side really threatened. We need a striker what can latch onto things

Battering is a bit extreme but Tbf Luton had something like 7 shots on goal in the first half to our 2 I believe.

They were the better team in the first half but I don’t think they dominated

For all our possession and passing we are crying out for a striker that can just put it away
