About 5 mins away from line ups being released.
What’s everyone thinking?
Benson and Tella?
Hoping for a 0-2 result personally but expect a tough game.

That’s an interesting team.
Cork out for Bastien in the middle.
Benson gets the start.

Interesting re Cork, can only presume it’s tactical rather than it being anything Cork has done wrong

First indication of Kompany using the squad. Unforced changes? Forgot what that feels like!
Bastien playing where I thought we'd be playing him when we signed him. It'll be really interesting to see how he'll do there along side Cullen.

If Brownhill is here by the end of the transfer window I can see Kompany naming him club captain.

Watford have changed their formation for us too. Playing 4-3-3 with Sarr wide right. They’ve been playing 3-4-3 recently and that is Edwards main system.

No - could be 4-2-3-1 with Costelloe and Benson wide or it could be Costelloe up top with Barnes in a 4-2-2-2

Glad to see Jack on the bench, not because he isn't playing well, but if we want to play this high tempo game all season, younger players than Jack will be in need of a rest as well.
Vitinho, Tella and Jay on the bench means we have plenty of alternatives to mix it up second half.
I really hope Ash scores tonight, it will boost his confidence no end. He's normally scored his goals in batches, rather than regularly. It would be nice if he could have a little run before he takes his rest.

Exciting team. Exciting bench. Quality opposition
I'm guessing 4-2-3-1 set up, swapping to 3-3-3-1 or 4-1-2-3 depending on the phase of play

On paper it looks like 4-2-3-1 insofar as roles are concerned, but we'll see how committed Kompany is to a rotational double pivot. There's every possibility it's a 4-1-4-1 with Cullen screening the defence, Roberts keeping a bit more defensive shape than the last two, depending on Kompany's instruction to Bastien. If he plays as forward as he did against Huddersfield and Luton we can expect less attacking play from Roberts, but my guess is that Bastien is simply doing the Cork role tonight. There's also the fact that when we have possession we look like we're playing a 3-1-6-go-absolutely-everywhere formation which makes it difficult to describe what we're doing even after the event.

Appears he's surplus to requirements. VK has told him that and talked about it at the last press conference.

I love the lad dearly but you're right. It's not like he's been totally starved of chances as he had been when he'd been playing the last two seasons. The bench looks healthier than it has been in years. If we could bring in a striker who has the same immediate impact as, for instance, Cullen and Maatsen have had for their respective positions, I'd say we have one of the mightiest squads in the league.

Can't tell if that's a tongue in cheek comment or not...but if it isn't, they are very much accidental assists. Particularly Huddersfield.

Cork is dropped to the bench because the first two games we have had 4 central midfielders playing. As we had no wingers, now Benson can start we can be more aggressive going forward.

Glad the back 4 is unchanged, and not surprised Cork is getting a breather, pleased to see Benson earning his start, and attacking options on the bench if needed.

His contributions, accidental or otherwise, has led to us getting 4 points from 6.
I'd agree he shouldn't really be first choice for the season, but at present he's doing a decent job for us
