Reaction of a 20 year old I’m afraid. Shame as he’d had another decent game.

The Blackpool player tried to break his leg
Allowing the number of fouls from Blackpool to go largely unpunished allowed the refs control to totally vanish.

Nasty, cynical foul but the reaction was ridiculous. The amount of time he had to pick himself up and run at him was plenty for him to realise he shouldn't be doing it.

Being taken out like that I can’t entirely blame him for that reaction, but it was stupid and if it was 11 v 10 we might have got that deciding goal

The most worrying part of the game for me is the reaction. We haven’t seen that sort of thing from a Burnley player in the last decade. He’s a loan player but if we are using more loan players they need to buy into the club ethos. This is something that VC needs to sort quickly. Also, it is possible that we may have won the game with eleven men so it’s a needless and naive sending off which also impacts future games.

Got was brought down by an extremely poor, reckless challenge, but he's needs to learn to calm down and let the referee do his job. He was very silly and it's going to cost us.

Footballers really are thick.
Their player was being sent off anyway, and although I can't say with any certainty we'd have scored 11 v 10, we'd have stood a darn sight better chance with the extra man.
On the plus side, Taylor will presumably shift over to LB now that Maatsen is suspended for three games. This, in turn, will give either Egan Riley or McNally a chance.

Charlie Taylor will probably have to play left back now with McNally or even Long coming in. And thank goodness for that because he's no centre back. Maatsen. Lad got absolutely clattered. Pity about his reaction.

Heard a few people after the game saying it could be more for violent conduct?

He's young and lost his head.
He obviously thought the Blackpool lad was trying to leave one on and hurt him, and just lost it. No excuse for that sort of a reaction though, and he will now miss 3 games.

Should know to roll around in pretend pain for 5 mins and get the guy sent off.
Instead, was stupid and naive. With him on the field and a man up we could have won it.

It’s 3 inc the cup game. So misses Millwall and Wigan. Wouldn’t have played in cup.

Ridiculous response to a bad challenge. Never saw that happen under SD. Lad needs to have a serious chat with himself and VK needs to kick his ar*e.

Violent conduct:
Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.
So did he touch his head or face??

He ran 20 yards to bundle the lad over, anyone debating an appeal is deluded.

20 yards. Do you always exaggerate length?!
In answer to my question, he pushed him in the back, not head or face, so on that basis it likely is worth an appeal based on the rules.

The blue strapping came off first. Then the armband and something else that was black. The linesman who was walking back to his touchline asked Muric to move the items Maatsen had dropped. Muric picked up the item I could not identify and put it into his goal, but the armband and the strapping remained there.

I don't think you've read the rules right. It says "in addition" before the head or face bit. He clearly used excessive force against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, so it's bang to rights a red card. It doesn't have to be the head or face.

Yes I saw Muric move something off the pitch. Didn't see him remove the arm band, but if he did then that is poor

Football is an emotional game. Think he was having a difficult second half. The defending for the second and third was not great. He then latched on to the ball and was determined to repair some of the damage his earlier poor positioning caused only to take a bad challenge. Understandable response. He'd properly lost it. The shove and then he was ready to go when the Blackpool lads went to surround him. He's very likable to watch and he is going to be a Premier League player; I think it will be a one off.

Red for them deserved.
Red for Maatsen was very poor retaliation, from the lad. This is Burnley!!!
As for the after Red reaction, in front of 20,000, a big club fine and possibly one from his fellows, too.
Not acceptable.

It was a silly and obvious trip that I’d have said was a yellow sat in The Bob Lord. Maatsen was then an absolute prat and really don’t need to do what he did. I’m firmly of the opinion that the Blackpool player got sent off as a reaction to Maatsen having to go and the ref ‘managing the game.’

No excuses for either player. One swinging out wildly with the ball nowhere near. The other one retaliation with his arms raised. The game itself is in an unhealthy state and offering excuses for either player is just demeaning.
