Newcastle signed isak record fee and have Callum Wilson, joelinton and potentially Pedro from Watford if offered wood on loan for the season would you take him?
Curious cause he left for money and he got mixed reaction on the last game of season last season
Yes I know it’s prob not a possibility also

Without a shadow but I think financially he's out of our reach even on a loan basis. He'll end up at a lower PL club or maybe even Scotland.

As mentioned on various threads not the man for this system. He’s a channel runner and we need a hold up player as a bonus he could poach a few.

"Cause he left for money" 99 times of 100 do players leave for any other reason.

It's a no from me. He has moved on and so very much has our team and style of play.

It would be pointless - Wood would be hopeless in our current set up.
Of all the PL forwards you could possibly take on loan, he'd be bottom of my list.

They aren’t signing Pedro now apparently. Isak first choice

Joe is a midfield player. Wilson will be out injured for at least 15 games. The concern for wood is more likely the young kid that Joey Barton had on loan last season. Iffy haircut though.

Wouldn't want to drag him back into his comfort zone.

100% would re-sign Wood if given the chance and I bet Kompany would too. He’d comfortably score 20 odd goals a season in the Championship. No brainer.
No chance of it happening sadly.

Interesting that some people think that our style of play is so much more sophisticated than Newcastles to the extent that one of their players would not now be good enough to play for us.

To be fair he isn’t good enough to play for them.

That may be true when looking at the type of player Newcastle are now bringing in.
But I find it amusing that some are so taken by our change of style that they see us already to be so superior to use a proven Premier league goalscorer.

I always rated Wood, but I think we’ve definitely seen the best of him. There was a season or two where he and the club suited each other to a tee. Of course he could score a lot of goals in the Championship, but I’m not sure how useful he’d be in our current team. He does good work off the ball but isn’t particularly intricate, and as for his goals he’s more of a fox in the box and someone who will get on the end of crosses - neither of which seem to be how this team is set up to score goals.

I think he is still a bit more intricate in terms of putting the ball in the net than anything we have st the moment or will be likely to have.

Without a doubt. But that doesn’t mean he’d score a lot of goals in this set up.

My point exactly. A lot of people see this set up as if we are tuning up a perfect football scoring machine. But nobody seems to be good enough to be the goalscorer to be able to make it work.

I’m not disagreeing. We look goal shy considering the amount of ball, and at times chances we’ve had. But I think if you put Wood into this side in place of Rodriguez or Barnes for the five games so far this season I don’t think there would be a difference in results.

So we have parachute payments and can't afford him and Scotland has tv pennies but can?

He's a player suited to direct football. How on earth with the way we play now could someone who can't play a simple pass fit in?
For taking chances sure, but he's not going to help others in the team.

It was more rangers & Celtic directed, I believe we could afford him if we really really wanted him but I think he'll have better offers so it makes no odds & we wouldn't free the cash up for him anyway.

Nope. Not that at all. It’s not that people THINK that one of Newcastles players would not be good enough to play for us… they KNOW it. He’s not good enough to play for them, and it took £27m for them to suss that. Only a huge injury crisis will see him get PL game time for them.
Wood is one dimensional, slower than a week in jail and with the turning circle of a supertanker. We are filling the team with players who play football….ok, maybe too much football at times but Wood would definitely struggle to be effective in this team. He absolutely wouldn’t have a clue what was going on.
He played his part here for sure, did well at times and scored goals, but the system he was effective in was the polar opposite of what we are trying to do now. Look how Barnes is struggling to adapt! For anyone to suggest he’d get 20 a season in this league for us is proof they are blood relatives. He wouldn’t get 20 in TWO seasons.
Finally, his attitude had become embarrassing to see. To use the word “professional” when describing him as a footballer would be a slight on professional people everywhere. We were relegated due to a number of factors all coming together to form the “perfect” storm. Make no bones about it, Woods attitude and effort levels on the pitch for a very long period of time is most definitely one of them.
It’s a MASSIVE “No” from me.

It's a firm no from me, hope Wood enjoys his time getting splinters warming Newcastle's bench.
Good goal scorer during his time here, but could also frustrate, especially with often being offside, and he couldn't wait to abandon us when the going got tough, thankfully Newcastle were daft enough, or rich enough to fork out crazy money for his services.
We got him during his best years, and his goals kept us afloat for a few years in the PL, but we've now moved on as a club, and he would be a fish out of water in our new fluid system.

Wood would score 20+ goals in the Championship easily, but perhaps isn't the greatest fit for our system. I think we want someone super mobile, rapid, who can also link the play. It's a lot to ask, which probably helps explain why we haven't found him yet. That said, if we did have a big striker with decent ability in the air like Wood, we might put in an occasional cross from a corner...
Even when Wood was at his most effective for us, we didn't really play to his strengths. He can win long balls but he likes to run in behind (not being rapid means he has to be right on the line, hence all the offsides).
It is pretty curious how fans don't seem to rate a guy who scored 46 Premier League goals in four seasons for a team that was far from prolific. In any just world he would be considered one of our greatest strikers, certainly of the modern era, but whatever.

Possibly better than anything we have too
