A shame no one wanted to give him the ball for 85 minutes.

Quieter tonight, but that wasn’t his fault as he just didn’t receive the ball as much. Delighted to see him get his first goal - certainly seems an absolute bargain at £800k!

Yeah that was odd. A good few times he was open on the line and they just turned away from him and went the other way. Noticeably Cullen. Either way he popped up just where he was needed and did a few good bits.

Properly underused tonight. Great anticipation for the goal though.

He made 3 or 4 excellent runs which were missed by our players. He looked pretty frustrated at times in the second half.

Can't beat a bit of angst in a talented squad.

No problem not becoming too dependent on one flank. Watching managers will have to plan for us attacking both flanks. Plus just by being wide and hugging the touch line it helps the pitch stay wide and enables Brownhill and others to push on

It's easy to fall into stereotypes and think he might be a soft touch due to being small and Brazilian but he looks to have some steel about him to me.

Vitinho has absolutely excellent movement. He kept finding space on the left then when he saw he wasn't getting the ball started finding it in the middle. Reminiscent of Cornet in his ability to find gaps and get behind, just wasn't getting the ball when he did it.
In this system you need players with good movement, it's why I think in the long run Bastien will also become vital he has bags of energy and is great at pulling defenders out of position. I'd drop Roberts and keep Vitinho at RB when Maatsen comes back in personally.

I think so

He’s only the second South American to play for us isn’t he, after Fernando Guerrero and he didn’t so

I thought he got exposed a bit in the first half but in the second half he was brilliant and seemed to almost play left midfield at times drifting into the middle in acres of space but as others have pointed out his runs often didn't get the reward they deserved.

There were times where he was running into positions the centre forward would take. The movement with Jay or Tella drifting wide and Vitinho running through the middle was superb.

That could easily have been four or five again tonight.

He’s shown in the last two games he can tackle too. He even won a few headers last night!

It feels a long time ago now from being so upset that we were selling Dwight (who, in fairness, I still think would have been outstanding at this level and probably moved his career forward substantially under Kompany).

It speaks to the performances that Brownhill, Tella, Vitinho and Maatsen in particular in his sort of position have put in that we really have not missed him.
