Cheers for the news, Tony. Sounds a good signing but time will tell I guess. Seems strange us now loaning players from Brentford but this is the beautiful thing about the football pyramid: it’s Brentford’s turn at the top table.

Tony they complement each other. The article gives a lot of career and personal information that the video doesn't, and the video is an interesting and novel way of announcing it. I look forward to both!

Good signing, great video.

The Dervishs were an old sect of Muslims who believed in Austerity and were noted for their dancing (usually spinning) very fast hence the term "Whirling Dervish" and oglu mean "son of" a bit like vic or Vitch in eastern european languages... so his name means Son of Dervishdaveisaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 1:31 pmYou're right, I was looking at the wrong g. The cons of the take over are well documented, and we all are in complete agreement that it should never be allowed, and its weakened us as a club
But the last two/three months also show things that deserve praise, and that includes the social media department work on the signing videos
And they are undeniably brilliant

I think theres only Scott Twine who I'd heard of out all the signing so far. Everyone else sound like re-gens from Football Manager. I have no opinion of them. I'd seen the names Muric and Cullen before, not didn't know much about them at all.
Weirdly, although we've signed 15 or 16 players... the transfer window itself hasn't been very interesting for me. It doesn't feel like theres a chase anymore, I sorta miss the long drawn out affairs of us offering buttons, and only to lose them at the last minute... getting the player over the line was the best bit... I miss the days of signing players like Brian Stock.

I will give it my best shot bearing in mind that English phonetic system is not regular so here goes…
Der - vish -oh - lu
The g with the hat on top works more like a separating letter to make sure you pronounce both letters either side of it to make two separate syllables rather than combining them to make one syllable.

I'm really worried about whether we will be able to keep this social media team on board. Surely after all the accolades a big club or a brand is going to snap them up before the next window?
Re: ARTICLE: Dervişoğlu signs in from Brentford
What position do we think he’ll play? Will he be in the Jay role or the Tella? Good depth in the attacking positions.

Not at all, I just think that these 'announcement' videos look so cheap and clunky, but on the other hand, they're not aimed at folk pushing 60 so I just choose not to watch them so I'm not fussed by it.
I grew up like many in an era of Teletext, ClubCall, Radio Lancs phone ins and fanzines, so it's great that there are so many new and instant ways to get news out there without having to ring 0898 12 11 53 to spend 10 minutes at 50p a minute listening to a load of waffle waiting for the teaser 'Clarets in former Coventry striker link?', but FWIW IMO (that's me being modern) the ones I've watched are a complete load of rubbish.

At least he will play up front under Kompany. We would have had to install the world’s longest bench to accommodate 15 signings under the last manager.

Not in the slightest - I’m slightly in that camp myself. The weird thing though, is that these are usually more popular with the younger generation yet by using clips from a 1970’s sitcom, and 2 older movies (I’ve no idea what the film is in the business card scene and I’m 45) then the younger generation (such as my 11 year old son) are missing the ‘joke’ too!

Re: ARTICLE: Dervişoğlu signs in from Brentford
All the best to Halil - welcome.
I couldn't be bothered watching the video or commenting on it albeit that is not to pass comment on those that have.
An odd one. On the one hand no scoring record in club football but has 1 in 2 for Turkey.
I suppose it depends on what happens over the next 3.5 hours but at this point we are somewhat reliant on a 33 year old Jay Rod to carry us through a 46 game season.
And barring suspension and injury we have only signed 2 permanent players, Muric and Cullen, that can get into the first 11.
Now I'm going to get a new one ripped for being negative: deservedly so we are 3rd in the table and apparently author really great videos.
Note: the tone is gentle humour not sarcasm.....!

No it isn’t.
Your articles are very well respected, read and enjoyed by most people on here. Some people like the videos. I like the videos. Would I rather have them instead of the articles? No. But I don’t need to choose and nor should I. They can both be enjoyed. I’m sure on reflection you know that.
