Sloppy in possession on countless occasions, both full backs had a stinker. Clear penalty not given and Churlinov has to score. Great chances but we were never comfortable

Frustrating performance but probably 3 games in 6 days catching up. As good as Cork was Tuesday he was poor tonight. Vitinho was pretty anonymous, Maatsen was well off the pace and Roberts…well what can I say. That at the end pretty much summed up his overall performance. Needs a spell out of the team as I don’t really know what he brings apart from the odd throw in. Just to add the officials, especially the second half were absolutely shocking. The penalty, the challenge on Johann and 8 flaming minutes of stoppages!! The mind boggles

Churlinov looked promising. He really should have played an early ball to JBG though.

That's baffled me. If Churlinov squared it to the unmarked JBG we'd have likely won the game. Instead he went for glory and tried shooting from a ridiculous angle. JBG certainly didn't 'offer nothing'.

Muric 8 - excellent until forced off. Brilliant ball to Tella to win the pen

Roberts 4 - not good enough. Handed them a point when it looked like we'd take all 3.

Harwood-Bellis 7 - another good game

Taylor 9 - his best game at CB. What a block.

Maatsen 3 - appalling defensively and gave the ball away time and time again.

Cork 5 - clearly knackered

Cullen 7 - tried his best to provide the energy for two players in the middle and nearly pulled it off.

Vitinho 5 - not a winger, needs to played in his position at LB

Brownhill 6 - average game. Not much influence

Tella 7 - some brilliant runs and unlucky not to rifle one in first half

Rodriguez 8 - brilliant until he predictably tired


Churlinov 6 - he looks a good player to me, but only a 6 because he should have scored and played JBG in

JBG 6 - did a great job of shutting down their left side when he came on.


Not good tonight with some really tired and sloppy performances. Defensively both full backs were shocking. Need changes there.

Some big differences in scores for Churlinov who looked dangerous if not a bit arratic

Muric 8 - very good tonight, a couple of smart saves, and what a pass once more for Tella.
Roberts 4 - awful first half, gave the ball away sloppily on countless occasions. Better in the second half but big mistake for the goal.
Harwood-Bellis 5 - another more sloppy on the ball tonight and didn't dominate.
Taylor 8* - showed real resilience throughout as he was playing with very little support from left back for much of the game. Some excellent blocks and the only one of the back 4 to come out with any credit.
Maatsen 4 - positionally awful this evening and very poor with the ball. Massively naive this evening, even when he was close to the man he was constantly the wrong side.
Vitinho 7 - thought he did reasonably well on the right and sure us up when he moved to left back much better positionally than Maatsen.
Cork 5 - started fine and moved the ball well but seemed to lose energy and his ball retention was very poor.
Cullen 6 - he did OK and retained the ball well albeit slowly and he gradually got overpowered in there.
Brownhill 5 - another to start well but fade away.
Tella 6 - a threat throughout but some poor decision making and part of our issues down that side defensively.
Jay 7 - not as involved as Tuesday but moments of quality.

Churlinov 6 - unlucky with the penalty but should have won us the game tonight, big chance where he hit the post and should have played JBG in..
Barnes 5 - I'd rather see Costelloe, but another who had a glaring opportunity ro win the game.
JBG 6 - thought he did fairly well.

They were the better side in the first half and we didn't deserve to be in the lead, extremely sloppy in possession. Second half however the tactical changes from Kompany helped tighten us up. We could and perhaps should have seen it out for maybe an undeserved win. We had good opportunities and had a poor decision against us.

Muric - 9 - thought he was outstanding whilst on the pitch, good saves, commanding in the air, immaculate distribution with the pass for the penalty the icing on the cake. His propensity to pick up injuries is the only concern on that evidence.

Roberts - 5 - stuck at it well generally but he was a little shaky all night and he has to do better at the end.

Maatsen - 5 -some nice moments but sloppy defensively and gave the ball away too easily too often.

Harwood Bellis - 7 - decent enough but had his shaky moments.

Taylor - 8 - one dodgy early moment aside, very solid indeed and scrambled really well.

Cork - 6 - very good for 55 minutes but faded and no surprise he was withdrawn.

Cullen - 7 - thought he ratted really well and kept his composure.

Vitinho- 6 - tidy enough but nowhere as effective on the right wing. Diligent enough when he went to full back.

Brownhill- 7 - sharp and got about the pitch and rolled his sleeves up.

Tella - 7 - wonderful touch for the penalty and generally used his pace to good effect, although he might have done a little better with his final ball a couple of times.

Rodriguez- 8 - our best all round player on the night and I was surprised he was withdrawn.

Gudmundsson- 7 - did the job asked of him.

Churlinov- 6 - should have had a goal and an assist and will need to make better decisions and be more clinical but there's no question this lad has something about hi. - promising.

Bastien - 6 - generally neat enough but he was slow of the mark defensively a couple of times and one indirectly led to the goal.

Barnes - 5 - tough for him to get into the game but having done brilliantly to make the chance for himself, had to do better.

Odd evening. It wasn't a surprise to find West Brom were a much stiffer test than we've had, barring Watford, and we were second best for long periods. Bur having weathered the storm we had our chances to put the game to win, didn't take them and then became ragged as the game went into injury time.

In the end a point was the least Albion deserved and was as good a result at full time as it would have been before hand, but having got control of the game, it's hugely frustrating not to see it through.

Barnes and Bastien came on at 77 mins and we played 98.

Muric 9 - outstanding and his injury probably cost us the win
Roberts 5 - big error for the goal and was up and down throughout
THB 6 - unusually was sloppy in possession and gave it away dangerously a bit
Taylor 9 - brilliant game, his block was superb but he was the best defender throughout
Maatsen 6 - looked suspect at the back again, we will get targeted here
Cullen 8 - kept it calm and held possession well
Cork 6 - started well but got jaded second half
Vitinho 7 - not at his best but ok
Brownhill 7 - also not at his best but ok
Tella 7 - had that one magic moment but looked a bit tired
Rodriguez 9 - led the line superbly and made good runs, rarely found

Churlinov 7 - lively and dangerous but wasteful, should have earned a pen if the ref or lino had their eyes in
JBG 7 - some good moments
Barnes 6 - did quite well but that was a bad miss that isn’t like him
Bastien 6 - helped solidify it

Referee - a word on him as I wasn’t there due to C so can't rate him. What a shocker. Was woeful from start to finish. The PL refs are bad but this geezer was something else.

Overall, a draw is the most we deserve but we should have won it but for the Roberts error. We were poor and tired by our standards, gave it away regularly. I thought we were better 2nd half. Do these young lads have what it takes for a 46 game grind? I’m not sure. I thought the error though was not bringing Benson on who changed the game on Tuesday. Maybe he would have done but for Muric’s injury.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Big game in a week. Win it, we are fine.

Vitinho -6. Doing the work of two men at RW, had a better time at LB.
Cork- 5. Sloppy by his standards, looked tired.
Cullen- 6. Not his best but was working hard to cover for Cork's fatigue.
Tella- 7. Tired as he ran himself ragged but our liveliest attacker.
Jay- 7. Played well but had little opportunity to do much because of how often we were losing the ball early.

Gudmundsson -6. Did fine enough.
Churlinov -6. Lively and found himself chances but end product and decision making let him down.

Barnes and Bastien and BPF were not on long enough. I think Barnes is getting harshly treated. Some mark him but not others to make a dig. He did OK tonight. Yes he lacks mobility but prior to his poor shot the touch and turn was class. He just needs a goal.

I'm not a fan of Barnes, but it's rather a shame that he didn't score at the end since - with the players we have signed this week - I don't see a place for him on the bench as from next week.
It would have been great had he scored a pretty spectacular goal on his final appearance. He set the shot up perfectly but his finish was embarrassing, and rather sums up his goal threat this past couple of seasons.

Good game this and a good test against one of the better teams in the division. We've not played very well and still been unlucky to come away with just a point. Fair result, although there never should have been 8 minutes added for them to score in.

I thought Cork was MoM last game, but was the worst performer tonight. He struggled all night keeping the ball, and that’s usually his strong point. He was closely followed by a few.

They’ll learn from this. Move on.
