Preston North End

Just having a browse around a couple of the Preston boards to see how things are going this season at Deepdale.
The summer started positively with season tickets put at very competitive early bird prices and some of the PNE fans I know said people were leafleting their local areas to encourage lapsed fans to return. It worked with over 12,000 season tickets sold, the biggest in years.
https://www.pnefc.net/news/2022/april/2 ... your-part/
Since then things aren't quite as rosy, a lack of serious transfer activity has annoyed many and the playing style and lack of attacking intent has seen many ready to turn on the board and possibly the manager, although many feel sorry for Ryan Lowe and the hand he's been dealt. A current poll has 96.3% wanting the Hemmings family to sell up.
PNE are yet to score a goal at home and have Bristol City (a), Burnley (h) and Sheffield United (h) to come in the next two weeks. The defeat today to Birmingham seems to have been taken quite hard, as most thought it was a chance to get the vital first home win and get into the play off picture, many looking at the next three fixtures think they'll be close to the bottom three after that.

I certainly thought they’d win today, with their solid defence and against a seemingly weak Birmingham outfit.

I read that they moved Robbie Brady to the right hand side today and negated his attacking qualities, it seems they needed a RWB and Striker in the window and purchased neither.

Still a friend on Facebook with Thor, he was a character. Met up with a few of the Preston lads from that board, they are all top fellas as well.

Hopefully after a positive result on Friday. We will also have an extra days rest than they have, plus they will have to travel back from Bristol.

Character is an understatement, proper internet fisherman but self deprecating as well.
Yes there was some good Nobbers on there, good crack.

Not sure about that. They've only conceded one goal at home (today's). They also haven't scored, so it's odds on that we let in some nonsense goal to get them going.
They are top of the league if you only count away matches.

He got a bird in the end though.

Problem for PNE was last year their best players were all on loan - Van der Berg, Archer, Iverson. Ownership is a bit up in air after Trevor Hemmings' death but at least they avoided being burned by that Chris Kirchner character. They don't really have a pot to **** in - I'm sure their record transfer is still something like £1.6m.
I've said before, but I'm not convinced by the manager, and there's been a few more negative comments about him (live and work in Preston) despite the impressive clean sheet record. All a bit apathetic, as you'd expect with a team that's scored two goals, none at home. Also, I'm not convinced having Peter Ridsdale involved in the internal affairs of your club can ever be a good thing.

As they had scored 2 goals in 7 games with Robbie on the left, his attacking qualities can't have been that much of a loss.

I also live in Preston, and there is indeed a lot of negativity around, with a lot of it aimed at the manager. A neighbour works at PNE, and he said Lowe is very much disliked by a lot of the “ employees “.

Just looked it up, it’s Neil Mellor for £2.7m in 2006/07.

Don't think they paid anywhere near that much for him, thought it was David Healy at £1.5 Million but possibly beaten in the past couple of years by some of their new signings.

Apparently the brains behind the manager at Bury and Plymouth was Steven Schumacher, when Lowe accepted the Preston job Schumacher stayed and took over Plymouth, he currently has them 3rd in League One.

A bit like Tony Loughlan was the brains behind Dyche.
