Seems to be a few transfers falling through, or at risk of falling through, due to work permit issues. Justin Kluivert to Fulham recently and now Diego Costa to Wolves.

I've never understood why this rule applies to football, or why it's not just bypassed above a certain income level. If a business is willing to pay someone millions of pounds to work a contract, what does it matter where they're coming from? Why does the state need to get involved? We missed out on Congolese Muleka despite offering him a contract that would have made him a millionaire, but got North Macedonian Churlinov on the same basis because he's played a couple extra games in a higher league? There's no point to that, and no point stopping Wolves wasting money on Diego Costa if they want to.

It has to be applied fairly across the board.
English football has benefited from a large number of the foreign players to come here but equally millions have been spaffed on barely average lads when there are English lads sat kicking their heels behind the foreign ones.
