6 Music

Post by HunterST_BFC » Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:46 pm

6 Music has been brilliant all day.

Hardly any talking.

Slightly more laid back selections complimenting the track before and the next one to play.

I preferred Techno Tuesday to be honest, a little bit on the morose side today. But fair play they seemed to get the tone right.

I heard 'Trois Gymnopedies' on 'Kerrang!' yesterday.

Somewhat unnerving.

Driven to Lytham and back today, had smooth on great tunes and no adverts, what a refreshing change!

Agree about 6 today... was a really good listen. When they played The Cedar Room by Doves early afternoon I was fairly elated !

Agreed, some lovely reflective songs today for the most part

It was however really jarring when someone played Fire by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. I presume it was a mistake or someone having a bit of fun

6Music was great for the first 10 years or so. Remember when it was called 'the home of new music'. I discovered many new bands on there.

Nowadays, I come across more up-and-coming guitar-led British and Irish bands on US stations, than 6Music. I find that for most of the day the station is now more like a crossover of R1 and R2, though I still listen to Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley and Iggy from time to time. I wish Jarvis would resume his Sunday Service.

Music is one of the most subjective things there is, and it's all about what suits you.

KEXP during the week, but after 3.00pm or 4.00pm UK time - it's the start of their early morning show. Before then, it's more chillaxed with R&B etc because it's the middle of the night in Seattle, WA. They have live bands on too and their YouTube channel is well worth checking out.

This is from a couple of days ago: UK band TV Priest.

What's the deal with adverts? I've not watched much telly the last couple of days but have watched some cycling on Eurosport which has had no adverts. Got telly on at the moment and there are ad breaks.
