Ex Wales captain and Broadcaster Eddie Butler sadly passed away age 65. He died in his sleep during a trek in Peru. RIP

Sad news. 65 isn't old these days. Always enjoyed his commentary and his sparring with Brian Moore.

Fabulous voice and will be sadly missed.

Agreed casualclaret, bit of a shocker at that age. Remember him playing for Wales (and Ponypool) but latterly best known for commentaries and differences of opinion with Pitbull Moore.

Never had the fortune to see him playing, but well remember his commentary which was always top notch.

RIP Eddie. Fine player, better commentator. With a great love of his homeland.

That's a bit of a shocker, but probably a good way to bow out.

Perhaps the BBC can replace pooler 8 with his former no. 9, David Bishop. That might shake things up a bit.
