Muric- 7 - may change my view on this when I've seen it back but I thought he was let down by his defenders fur the goal. Excellent save just before half time and commanded his area late on.

Roberts- 6 - steady enough but slowed the game at times.

Maatsen - 6 - again I need to see it again but i thought he failed do to his job at the near post for the goal and got caught under the ball, as he did a couple of times. Ok.goimg forwards but not as dynamic as he can be.

Harwood Bellis - 8 - still loses too many headers but he used the ball well and defended the box superbly late on.

Bayer - 7 - really promising debut. Still adapting to English football but clearly has all the tools.

Cork - 9 - absolutely imperious. Again.

Cullen - 8 - I'd still like him to be more dynamic with his passing at times but he moved the ball about do smoothly and his defensive work was top notch.

Brownhill - 7 - quieter than he has been but tidy enough.

Benson- 8 - took his goal well and generally really lively even if he didn't completely live up to his brilliant first 10 minutes.

Tella - 6 - some nice moments but should have buried hus first half chance and occasionally guilty of holding the ball too long.

Rodriguez- 8 - a world class header to win it and generally linked the game well.

JBG - 8 - world class cross to unlock Bristol and showed the technical ability in tight areas we've lacked at times.

Zaroury - 8 - hugely promising cameo. Kid has huge potential, although he has to learn to attack the back post more.

To be this much better than Bristol this early in the season with a new team is really heartening. With just a touch more sharpness in the box this could have 4 or 5, and whilst Bristol had a couple of presentable chances at 1-1 they struggled to live with us for long periods.

Still there's a concern about our defending of set plays, and we have to lose the tendency to slow the tempo after a fast start when we are dominant, but there lots to like about the way this is progressing.

Muric 7 - after watching their goal back, one of our defenders has to head that before it gets where it does, 2nd half he was very good
Roberts 6 - poor first half, much better second
THB 7 - some excellent line breaking passing and that piece of defending at the end was outstanding
Beyer 7 - really composed isn’t he? Quick for a cb too
Maatsen 8 - early season form returned, there’s a reason he’s currently the most creative player in the league statistically
Cork 9* - another rolls Royce performance
Cullen 8 - some really neat play and allows us to dominate games by being tactically very switched on
Benson 8 - was unplayable for periods of the first half, electric, only way for teams to stop him is kicking him off the pitch
Brownhill 7 - unlucky not to score and was better today with more spaces to exploit
Tella 6 - really lively start to the game but faded, think this rest will do him good
Rodriguez 8 - stunning header

JBG 8 - really good today in general play and an exquisite cross for the goal
Zaroury 8 - another lively cameo, how exciting is it seeing players like this in Claret
Dervisoglu - not on long enough but you can see he is another nice technical attacker and I’m sure we’ll see more of him after the break

Really good at times, especially second half

Bad goal to concede, but we restricting the free scoring side in the division to a couple of half chances and created some wonderful opportunities ourselves

I'll keep saying "Work in progress" but we are clearly heading the right way and Zanoury looks a hell of a prospect

Small complaint, the fans, particularly those around me really giving Roberts grief in the 1st half for not running at Bristol more. I get the frustration, but when we try to force it, we tend to lose the ball and put ourselves in trouble, and I just don't see the gaps that they could presumably see that Roberts could easily run or pass into

Roberts 5 - wayward passing put us under pressure first half,
does’t stay tight to his man and let’s players peel off him… in possession he slows our game down far too much
THB 7
Beyer 7
Maatsen 7
Cork 8* - Class above
Cullen 6 - tidy enough but a bit to casual/safe for me
Benson 7 - Head seems to drop if he gets contact, took his goal really well and was a menace in the opening 20 mins
Brownhill 6
Rodriguez 8 - Sublime header and build up play
Tella 6 - would like to see him as striker playing up top with

JGB 7
Zanoury 7 - think we could have a really good player on our hands here

Muric 7 - gets alot of stick on here for no reason, Blackpool goal aside he's been very good. I was wrong to blame him for today's goal.
Maatsen 7
THB 9 excellent again, top class defending at the end.
Beyer 6 really poor for the goal, otherwise solid.
Roberts 7 another solid performance, improved 2nd half. Best player on the pitch at PNE, finds intelligent positions and rarely gives the ball away. #notmyscapegoat
Cork 9 incredible, so calm, assured and very effective.
Cullen 7 solid 7/10 every week, dependable.
Benson 7 very good first half, nice finish too.
Brownhill 7 solid, worked hard.
Tella 6 quiet, missed a sitter, probably tired with the heavy load.
Jrod 8 quiet and not really involved today, won the game with a great header though.

JBG 8 used the ball really well, great cross for the goal.
Zaroury 7 Fancy, direct, would like to see him make more central runs in behind, hugged the touchline a little too much.

Benson scored a great goal, and nearly created another but after the first 10mins he was the same enigma. JBG is a far better option, because he has a football brain, and at this level is quality. He also happens to get the best out of Roberts.
Tella came into the middle more, which is a lot better for the team
Zaroury looks to have something special about him.
Maatsen is our TAA, great going forward, but lacking defensively.
The defensive coach needs a kick up the backside the way we defend corners and free kicks, or should that be the way we don't. Another ball pinging around the 6 yd box because we don't win headers.

We did look better today, despite BC being one of the better teams we've faced, but as I said after Preston, I think we have a lot better starting XI than we've seen.

Worried this would turn into another frustrating draw against a very disappointing Bristol City side, but thankfully Gudmundsson produced a wonderful cross and Rodriguez produced a wonderful finish.

I thought both Cork and Rodriguez were absolutely outstanding today, and Gudmundsson not far behind when he came on. Beyer will be a good 'un.

What we do in between both boxes in by far and away the best in the league, and probably better than a good few PL sides too. We've got to be a bit better in front of goal, and we simply have to be better at defending our box. Muric helped with this in the second half.

To say we're 10 games into a revolution, we're looking pretty good.

Muric 7 - no clean sheet again but some of his distribution was sublime
Roberts 6 - something is going on. He’s clearly not a bad player. Doesn’t seem to play with any confidence.
THB 8 - looks the real deal, as does…
Beyer 8 - very, very assured
Maatsen 7 - decent, nice ball for the Tella chance
Cork 9* - outstanding. Again.
Cullen 7 - metronome in the middle. Works really well with Cork
Benson 8 - thought he was great, a bundle of energy and a good goal.
Brownhill 7 - don’t get some of the lower marks, good, dynamic performance
Rodriguez 8 - really good performance, puts himself about, sublime header
Tella 6 - like PNE looked a little jaded, the rest will do him good

JGB 8 - showed his class when he came on, great cross for the goal
Zaroury 7 - looks a very capable option

I thoroughly enjoyed it today. Another cheap goal conceded, but our control of games on the ball is fantastic to watch. Bristol City are no mugs, one of the form teams in the league managed by an experienced operator, and we dominated for the most part. We are not the finished article, we need to work on some things, but I love what Kompany is doing and trying to do with this team. Great stuff.

I agree with pretty much everything in the opening post. We're absolutely dominating teams, but without turning that dominance into a rout and putting them away (Wigan notwithstanding!) and we can still look very vulnerable when we haven't got the ball and from set plays which is thankfully not very often. I thought Beyer made a huge difference yesterday because he's far more dominant in the air than either THB or Charlie Taylor and we're going to need that in order to see out more games. We did what promoted teams do yesterday and that's keep grinding away, keep probing and eventually find that one spark of genius to unlock a very well organised defence.

Great to watch, and good to see the Turf Moor crowd buying into what VK is trying to achieve here. Given a fair wind and a wee bit more protection from referees, this team will grow so quickly your head will be spinning.
Thankfully, as far as I can see, nearly all the whingeing, carping, nitpicking and grumbling seems to be confined to this message board...the Turf is a far happier place than it was 12 months ago.

Marks..?... As claretspice (post 2) but with an 8 for the keeper.

But some people might have thought he was below par.

The thing is with these ratings that people incorrectly think 5’s and 6’s mean they a player has been poor. This isn’t the case as 6=average and 5=below par.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The thing is with Brownhill although to us he looks suited to the position that he’s playing, he himself believes that he’s better slightly deeper, in a creative way with a little more time and space to play and then coming late into offensive positions attacking space.
Considering that, he’s adapting well, I think he’s a little bit tired atm and I think the short break will do him good.
Maybe when, if, Twine appears he’ll get to play a little deeper and play into, and off, the player that’s in that tight area that he’s occupying at present and he’ll feel more comfortable.
As it’d stands we’ve loads of wide players but very few that can play the 10 role, maybe Jay Rod but he’s playing a mix of 10 & 9 so Josh is putting in a very good shift and scoring some goals too as that position demands
The only 5 he’ll deserve is a high 5 from VK
