Scott Twine

In my over 50 years as a Burnley supporter have I ever come across a signing like Scott Twine.

Unless I have missed it he as played approx 20 minutes for us. I don’t doubt his talent but when will someone tell what his actual injury is.

I’m like most of us I would imagine I can’t wait to see him with a claret shirt on.

But will someone please tell us what his injury is for a start.
It would also be nice to know when he will be available for us but I understand that may not be possible.

But I do feel we deserve a little more information not just the little tit bits we get every week.

If we won’t see him until January 2023 say so.

Apologies but when I read the username followed by the desire for straight talking I immediately started reading the rest of the post in the voice of Harry Enfield's Yorkshireman "I like what I say and I say what I like" :D

Started with a 'slight muscle tear', followed by a hamstring injury.

Apparently.

I don’t really understand this. You’ve never seen a player injured before in 50 years?

Kompany said yesterday it’s not bad or serious and he’s generally a fit lad. He said he’s been getting ‘niggles’ and reports suggest it has been a muscle strain.

He recently put a timeline on a return which was expected to be vs Bristol City but he since suffered a small setback. Now, for that reason, he’s not putting timelines on his return but some posters on here have suggested November. He is quite tight lipped when it comes to injuries but I guess it beats the ‘touch and go’ nonsense.

His initial injury was a stubbed toe but he is now out with tennis elbow and is expected to be available to play again on the 21st December

The only player I can think of similar in my time, and admittedly it was a different level, was John Clayton around 1992-93 (might be slightly out). He played, and I think he scored on his home debut, had another appearance or two then totally disappeared.

That's the OP's point, I think. We've been told he's got a slight injury, but he's been out for 2 months already and no return even hoped about for at least a full month more.

I’m merely speculating, based on some of the comments made, but just say Scott is struggling to settle here in the north…. It does occasionally happen and if that’s the case, it looks like the club are really looking after him. If he’s injured as reported, I hope he’s fit to return very soon. He’s a top player.

Robbie Blake when he first arrived was injured. He played a little bit and then was out for a lenthy spell.

One sensible way of looking at it is the lad's picked up a muscle injury, and then another niggle which isn't uncommon at all. No point in rushing back a fairly expensive asset when we're sat pretty healthily in the table. Hopefully he'll be fully fit in the New Year.

Because they're more fun than the truth.

I heard that on his first night in Burnley he went out to sample some of the tits and fanny that the town is famed for and copped for a particularly debilitating dose of the clap.

I am wondering why some people think they have a right to know anything about this issue or any other issue for that matter (Club ownership details, finance details etc).
They may well have an interest in these matters but they do not have a right to know anything.
Customers of a business have no right to know about the internal affairs of that business. They can remain as customers or move on as they please but they would have no more rights anywhere else.

That’s always been my thoughts but I’ve been shot down for saying it. ‘We are more than just a business’ ‘it’s our money’ etc etc

From what I've heard there were two of our new additions that looked behind the rest of the group in training. One was Twine and the other McNally. It could be that Twine had been carrying the injury prior to signing but part of me wonders if they are both struggling to adapt to this league and are being kept behind closed doors untill they have adapted a little better. Only time will tell.

I suppose it depends whether you view yourself as being merely a customer of a business. I suspect as supporters we cant just " move on as we please "

This reminds me of the time that a new lad joined our Sunday league team, looked great in training and then made his debut with a good cameo appearance from the bench. Anyway, he went totally off the radar after that point, didn't show up for training and didn't answer calls or return messages. Turns out the poor lad had been abducted by aliens. He returned about 6 months later towards the back end of the season, but to be honest he wasn't the same person or player, and ended up packing in at the end of the season after a few disappointing performances.

I really hope this isn't the case with Scott Twine as we have a potentially excellent player on our hands.

I might be wrong but didn't Danny Ings sign in August 2011 and then make his debut in Feb 2012? Was he injured for the whole period?

Hopefully not a dud like Jon Walters. Don’t think we’ll see him start before January. Shame because seemed like a very promising signing.

He was only on the pitch for 20 min or so at Huddersfield but he looked excellent to me. Multiple good touches and hit the post from his free kick.

I think he’s injured, just as we’ve been informed. Kompany said a few weeks ago “The fans are going to love Scott when he gets out there” or similar - pretty certain he has no concerns over the lads ability to step up to this level. Trouble settling in though? Always possible - but an easy way out of that rut is playing football in a team that has the ball non stop. He’d love it. I am 99.9% certain he’s merely injured.

Yes do seem to remember Ings managing to do himself serious injury immediately after signing. Maybe Twine is aspiring to be the new Steven Defour. Keeping the physios treatment table nice and warm.

It wasn’t the tits or the fanny, it was the 2 bottles of Bordeaux that did the damage.

That character - the "Yorkshire Creative Director" - was based on a good friend of mine... a Leeds Utd-supporting Yorkshire man who was not only a Creative Director at the agency I worked in - but also played in the same South London softball team in the 90s as Harry Enfield, Ainsley Harriot and Charlie Higson.

... and whilst the character was obviously a caricature - it was also very recognisable - and the real person it was based on loved it!

That's not disputed. Cheese, at low gravity, is strong enough to bear a lunar module. The question is, was the lunar module actually on the (cheesy) moon, or did the Americans run a vast, successful conspiracy involving thousands of people?

Manager repeatedly says he’s injured. Very unfortunate for him and us, but as an explanation, that’ll do for me.

Let’s not post speculation about his mental health based on things you’ve “heard” and then feign concern. If you were concerned about him you wouldn’t be posting the rumours at all.

Why the rush to get Twine on the pitch, if he's injured then let's just allow him time to recover without wildly speculating.

And arguably the bigger question is who will make way once Scott is fit to be in contention for our 1st team, as presently they are all contributing towards our good run of results.
