Get leads and let them slip away
Can’t close games out
Stoke will be difficult

From what I saw we were off it today. Still, picked up an away point and as long as we get back on track for Wednesday, all is good.

For the defence it now seems par for the course. Concede a poor goal pretty much every game.

Funnily enough I thought we were edging towards our best defensive performance of the season but that goal of course ruined that. Going forward miles off it and unfortunately Barnes makes us worse every time he’s on the pitch.

No, but once again no guile and calmness to grind out the result after going one up. Benson & Zaroury did not bring what they ought to, and both right and left flanks were left wide open for them to attack

Cross into the box, pretty much a free header.

Was poor for the entire game, bar the goal which was a lovely bit of play out of nowhere.

The first half was essentially 45 minutes of THB and Taylor passing it to each other, and the second half was us taking the lead then electing to sit and defend and play on the break. We made three substitutions that utterly killed our performance levels (for seemingly no reason) when it was clear, I think, that the substitutions to make - if we are going to defend - were Beyer for Maatsen (moving Taylor to left back) and Bastien for one of the three behind Jay a lot earlier.

They had something like 10 corners to our 1 and were largely totally dominant for the entire game I would say. Our possession will look high on paper, but yet again the lions share of it was spent passing across our defensive line. The tempo in some games is mesmeric, and then in others it's rudderless. It's such a conundrum.

I cannot see the top two positions being within the grasp of this side - but I had hoped for the play-offs before the season started, so certainly won't be disappointed with them. We just lack that 'something'. That mettle and inner belief that you need to go up automatically from this league - we've done it twice very recently, and you can see the deficiencies this side has compared to those two. We're better to watch (at times), but we are very vulnerable.

Charlie is far better at left back

Agree, quite easily the worst we've played this season. Though despite that we were close to a win. Funny.

An off day in an otherwise positive season.

it is a very young team, play-offs would be about the best we can hope for.

Agreed - in which case, we’ve had a good start.

There’s a lot to still work out about the team in terms of its best eleven etc, that doesn’t help either.

Im sorry but we must be the smallest team in the league. Teams bomb it into our box whenever they get the chance.

We must move the ball the slowest as well (and you arent a great footballing side if you pass it 20 times then whosh it forward for tella to run onto). Teams just retreat get their shape now.

We are soft, hardly win any 50/50 balls. Teams know they get a free one and they look physically stronger, weve starting throwing ourselves on the floor.

I said after Ipswich at home we wouldnt make the play offs, so what do i know!

Man-management. It's something most fans don't consider.

Taylor lost his place due to being injured. He works his way and because of that, he loses his place? Nah. I think VK did the right thing. You don't drop someone because they were injured.

Charlie is a great lb but Beyer on to shore up the back line instead of Ash would have been better withdraw Maatsen an push Charlie wide
Dara Costelle is a far better option than Ash as he offers pace and power. Our record at Cardiff isn't great though but that's 8 points dropped now with draws against very average sides.

Normally I'd be reasonably happy with drawing at Cardiff well not being at our best but given how late we let the lead slip again it has to class as 2 points dropped.

Vital we net all 3 points against Stoke on Wednesday now to remain in touch with Norwich and Sheff Utd.

Sheffield United drew today. We didn't lose ground even though we were away from home.

I'm happy with us sniffing around the top 4.

Just seen the goals. TBH looked to have got his body shape wrong resulting in him not being in a position to challenge Robinson who had a free header. A tall strong CB is a requirement imo.

Salisbury is right. Cardiff were well organised and defended space well.

We aren't good enough, fast or tricky enough to pull organised sides apart we have some decent players but they're often dominated physically - Cork and Rodriguez are often standouts for their presence on the pitch and that shows what we lack elsewhere.

I'm generally happy with our start as well, but I can't help feeling it could and possibly should have been even better.

We've only lost 1, but equally we've only won 4, and there is a danger we'll become the draw specialists of the division.

When with a stronger jaw we could easily have another 3 wins on the board.

Hopefully VK will iron out these small mistakes, and we'll really hit our stride following the WC.

This goes back to my earlier post and I guess it depends on the mindset of each individual fan.
I can tell you're an intelligent person, so you'll know the angle I'm coming from when I say I'm just not worried.

I'd rather we are throwing away points knowing how good we will become in time, vs ragging draws and holding for dear life.

I've watched each game and I think we are an easy 5 points from what our performances deserve. And VK seems to have made it pretty clear that promotion this season isn't mandatory. So we have breathing space.

I guess I'm just relaxed and confident at the same time. I'm confident that we do have the best side in the Championship, but we've only just got together and we have a manager who is still learning the ropes. Let the manager and team grow and we'll have something special.

West Brom are the most difficult side that we've faced this season. They currently lie in 21st place.

Deffo, Cullen again sloppy for me. Keep hearing makes us tick? Plays sideways backwards more often than not sloppy/slow in possession(been caught fair few times) and Appreciate he fills that left back role when maatsen bombs on but got to be better in possession. Would like to see brownhill there or bastien. Cork the only mainstay in that midfield. He’s the one who makes us tick, what a player. shame his legs will be catching up with him.

True but I think it's more the timings of the Cardiff and West Brom equalisers that's so galling, whenever you concede so late to drop points it always stings more.

I tend to agree we aren't far away based on the 11 games thus far.

I think we have seen enough now to indicate that Long needs to be on the bench. If we are winning with 15 minutes or so to go, the opposition will simply pepper the box. Long isn't the best footballer, but he is a big lad and is good in the air. He could come on for Maatson and move CT to left back.

But you can spin that and think it's a case of us having bad luck and in 90% cases, we win the game.

Long is injured isn't he, but we do need to resolve this issue of shipping soft late equalisers, it's becoming a worrying pattern now, coupled with the 2nd half collapse against Blackpool when in complete command at HT.

Might not be pretty, but who cares if it ensures we see these games out and rack up a few wins.
