Anyone heard why he was left out?

Apparently he was doing some DIY round at Benson's new house on Friday morning and dropped a hammer on his foot. Nothings broken and he should be fit again very soon.

I think he's been playing with a knock for a while, may explain some of the hesitancy to leave his goal for crosses. Gone off twice this season with an ankle knock and was limping before Stoke scored.

Was limping at the end on Wednesday

Never known a goalie get injured so much..... Something is not right

He is a footballer in a very competitive league, they get injured. Pope and Heaton out for ages as well, just please give the guy a break. Sometimes I think if I in my youth was ever good enough to play professional football I'd have hated to play for a club like us solely because we have a section of fans who love a scapegoat and a bl00dy good moan no matter what.

A good call giving BPF the shirt he had over 15 clean shirts while on loan last season and could be our new Nick Pope.

That would account for his slow reaction at Stoke, then, but if that's the case, he shouldn't be playing.

Yeah, it’s funny when someone writes “somethings not right” as if something nefarious is going on.

I thought they’d use a shirt for more than 3 games before getting a new one. Crazy what you learn on here.

It appears to be ankle/lower calf area, the first time I saw him limp is when the ball went out for a goal kick in the second half at West Brom, this was well before he went off injured. He appeared to feel something as the ball was going harmlessly wide, don't think it has sorted itself out since.

This forum amazes me at times ...
Lose and its Moan Moan Moan (understandable)
Draw and its Moan Moan Moan (well that can be true when conceding late equalisers)
Win and its Moan Moan Moan ... get a grip people 🤣🤣🤣

Tell me about it. This place can be so depressing, even after an away win. I started avoiding this place after the match if we draw or lose. I'll be doing the same after we win from now on, given some of the posts I read yesterday.

I’d give him a bit longer on the sidelines and obviously play BPF who looked comfortable yesterday. It’s a coin toss on who’s the best keeper out of the two anyway.

To be fair, I think quite a bit has been suggested about this lad purely based on where he arrived from as opposed to what he’s actually capable of.

I think BPF is our current number 2.

It was the game before WBA, Millwall at home he had to go off with a knock. Went off at WBA too. I'd guess he's been playing through the pain since and not recovered.

Franchi is about 19 years old, has never played 1st team football for PSG.
He has played a couple of games for our U21s.
Obviously signed for his potential.

Not sure mate, just speculating he's been playing injured for a while and finally it's caught up with him, potentially affected his performances.

Just returned from holiday and watched back some highlights of games I missed.

I know we've been blessed with some quality keepers, but I didn't expect to be so taken aback by the apparent lack of effort Muric has put into stopping the ball entering the net. Defensive frailties apart, I was speechless at the Stoke goal. It hit the back of the net just about centrally.

Watched him 'keep this week v Birmingham. If you consider that Muric takes unnecessary risks with the ball at his feet and his distribution, I'd recommend that you don't watch Franchi. Now he really does take risks!

It's not that part of it that bothers me to be honest - it's the 'being a goalkeeper' bit, the part when he has to make the saves.

The caveat to everything regarding the quality of our new signings, coaches and manager is that we are operating below our previous level.

So we can't really make any comparison to previous players and coaches until we start playing in the Prem again.

Yes, you have a point there.
I don't think we should be having doubts about the quality of our new coaches though, for all we know they are an improvement.
Time will tell.

something struck me though about BPF, to me he looks far more confident than before his season with Wednesday. Do you agree?
Although it could be down to Championship instead of PL.

I think BPF looked very solid against Coventry and did a very good job on Saturday.

As for comparing like for like I look at Norwich. Look very good at this level yet struggle massively once promoted.

I think we can actually. Kompany has taken over a squad who proved not to be of Premier League quality and has then had to lose all the best players and replace them at a fraction of the cost.

Therefore if Kompany gets this team back into the Premier League and back to the same level the previously more expensive squad failed at then I think its very fair to priase and appreciate the quality of our new coach and his signings
