Cov's drum

How they put up with that stupid annoying drum every home game is beyond me. I found it quite difficult to concentrate on the game at times. I'm thankful we don't have to endure that drivel at the Turf

Sounds great on the TV and its a shame for us armchair fans that the CFS dont make the effort to get a drum in there. You can never hear the home fans at the turf but from what Ive read on here a drummer might be able to stop them singing 100 mph

It was horrendous.

Drums are so tinpot.

They created a real genuine atmosphere with that drum.

Just like devils advocate said. Not at all annoying, confected and plastic.

My son in laws sister and her family live close to Stanley on the estate behind the new stand. Her husband said the drum there is a ‘f!!k!n nuisance’ especially at evening games.

Exactly. Like that bell-end at Dumpdale the other week. Should have his stick shoved right up where the sun doesn’t shine.

PNE have one too and if anything it just kills any atmosphere that might get started.

At least the Huddersfield Drummer had a sense of humour ... When we started singing "if you cant bang a woman bang a drum" he/she started banging along to the beat ... They got a huge applause and cheer at that.

But please please please do NOT get a drummer at Turf Moor ...

I'm critical of the atmosphere at the Turf sometimes but I thank my lucky stars everyday we don't have a drum. It can be great in Europe and elsewhere but just sounds so cringe over here.

The drummer(s) at Cardiff had their own gantry at the back of the stand like a stage! Bizarrely they barely even bothered in the second half, thank goodness.

I may have dreamt this (it's the drugs) but didn't we once have an official club vote about 'drummer/no drummer'?

Laughable rubbish to have some stupid drum giving everyone a headache. What next, stupid vuvuzelas or playing cheers over the PA system?

No thanks.

Mind you, if we could bang it when the idiots boo a draw, then I might change my mind.

If we have a drum, we could also get those plastic clappers they have at Leicester and then have no atmosphere at all.

On a positive note, we rarely lose to teams if their fans have a drum

West Brom had a drum.

In my view relying on one to create an atmosphere is pretty cringeworthy.

Good atmosphere from Coventry yesterday, out of the 5 away days i've been to i'd say they were loudest. Fair play to em. Although drums at footie annoy me.

Can't stand being at a ground with a drum, cant seem to block it out like I can when watching on the TV.

I'd take a drum all day though over that fella at Pompey with the bell ringing

I have it on good authority that we are looking at bringing in a trumpet player, bit like the Barmy Army.

I need anger management practice and your posts are great for that.

Why not record your fav drum beat and play it while you sit in your arm chair. I can say if I sat next to someone with a drum they wouldn’t be playing it much. What we do need are people who are prepared to join in the singing.

In the 1970’s I recall someone (a woman I think) constantly ringing a bell at Maine Road Man City’s ground at the time

My Dad & I were sat about 5 rows back from her in the North Stand for the Charity Shield game.
Did his head in.

Saw her several times. Used to go to Main Rd now and then. Usually in the Kippax.

She was still going in the late 80s when I was a student in Manchester and would occasionally frequent Maine Road when I couldn’t get to the Clarets’ match.
