Coventry City fans (match thread)

I sometimes like to read what opposing fans think of us during the match threads. Some funny comments that made me chuckle. Here we go.

The way Burnleys coms are going on we are facing prime Barcelona
They’re in full control.

Why is Maatsen being booed? Classic idiotic Cov fans.

Should have been red - good play by Walker.
I think there's an argument to say they should have about 3 yellows and a red at the moment.

Who the f*** is this co comm on the Burnley comms. Never heard so much sh** in my life.
Both of them are tragic. one of the worst set of coms I have ever heard

I’m counting that back pass as a shot

1-0 Burnley, nothing more than we deserve, been miles the better team, and already had a few sighters. We have had 1 shot to their 8 McFadzean header.
They must have had 80% possession
Protect the 0-1
We’re playing like a League One side away at a Premier League side
It’s easy. They look ridiculously comfortable

Even their commentators are saying that their tactics are to “chop” us down. Apparently they played Stoke recently and didn’t hack them down enough

I know they're a better team , but letting them play infront of us is not how we get a result today surely ?

I know our match threads are unbelievably negative, but do you notice we never have posters saying we should snap the opposition's legs?

==========

One of their booked players will do something that's a clear yellow. Ref will let it go and they will sub them straight away.

(Kompany must have been reading) :-D

Oh look they sub the player who should have been sent off
Burnley take off the walking red

Wouldn't mind somebody snapping one of their players to raise the game.

This season is about as fun as a Keir Starmer stand up set

Number 5 has vik in his pocket

We’d have thumped these last season.

Well in Bidwell, hit the tosser. Shut up Burnley comm tossers ffs

Poor little cry babies. Should have told the 4 that came off to snap their players first, get a yellow each.
They fall over again. Free kick

Match threads are very reactionary though. In myself post stuff on them that are completely unbalanced with an opinion that changes start the event.

I think there’s an fair argument that there should’ve been a red card.

Keeping the ball doesn’t make you the better team. By switching perspectives, you can control the game just by letting the opposition pass the ball around.

‘Chopping players down’ would have any opposition fan being critical

Club commentators do spout **** generally

Why are they tuned into Bird and Hodgson? Have they no comms of their own?

It’s bad enough listening to some of the “neutral” commentators, having to listen to Phil Bird, I’d have pressed mute!’

I can't listen either, he's marmite though as I know some on here love him and his enthusiasm. End of the day, you expect a bit of biased on a clubs own feed, its not for me though ;)

I suppose when they get bored of criticising how crap their team/club/pitch is they need to look elsewhere, and the opposition’s own commentary being :o biased :o was this week’s stress-reliever.

I also try to read the opposition fans forums before and after the games and the Coventry fans gave absolutely no credit to Burnley and the way they played on Saturday. They seem to have excuses for everything and really do clutch at straws, e.g. the header was miles over the line and they would've beaten Burnley with last season's team. Very strange bunch. Whilst they still have 2/3 games in hand on teams, the reality is they have still only accrued 7 points in 10 games and sit bottom of the league.

I watched the full match on clarets plus last night.

He always seems to call for a yellow card every time an opposition player commits a foul, or a penalty if there’s a tackle in the box. Pretty unbearable how biased he is (coming from a Burnley fan myself).

However, the other one (not sure of his name) is even worse with the cringy, childish jokes, trying to make Bird laugh instead of actually commenting on the game.

If you're watching a stream it's pretty common for it to be the opposition commentary. I watched the Stoke match with Radio Stoke and Denis Smith co-commentating.

Although back in the day when Clarets Player was audio only I tended to listen to the opposition audio to get an idea of what was actually going on in the game as if you judged it by Phil Bird's commentary we should have been five up with the opposition down to seven men each match.

I've no problem with Phil Bird being biased. He is club commentator after all, he doesn't work for BBC or ITV and has no obligation to be neutral in any way shape or form. I think he's pretty good at what he does and I don't really get all this sudden negativity towards him.

My problem with Phil Bird is simply his voice. It grates, like nails on a blackboard. Something about it just goes right through me.
He can't do anything about that, though.

I like Glen Little on radio lancashire, but I don't like the main commentator there either. Whoever that is has nowhere enough enthusiasm or that radio presenter *thing* that good radio hosts have.

I don't care now that his commentary is alongside a video but when it was audio only he was so biased that it was very difficult to actually get an idea of what was going on.

I enjoy Phil's commentary. The "neutral" red button coverage on Sky for the Stoke game last Wednesday was awful. They were getting players names wrong for the majority of it.

I also quite enjoy listening to Phil Bird, and has as been posted on an earlier comment, he's a Burnley employee and isn't supposed to be neutral.

Phil Bird is fine by me, if the club's own commentator can't be biased who can?
His unforgettable commentary at Brighton after Michael Keane's equaliser.

The co commentator on Saturday was laughably dreadful.

I've had the displeasure of listening to the club comms this season on the away games i have not been able to attend and to be honest I have found it to be quite awful and takes away from concentrating on the game. One thing I've noticed is that, especially when co comming with Westy is that Phil Bird comes out with a snap judgment but then Westy has a different opinion and Bird just totally flip flops, forgets his own thoughts and just agrees with Westy.

Another thing that is annoying and clearly stands out is that the commentary is geared up for radio. He is constantly pointing out the positions of players on the pitch and where the ball is played to etc. Bird always seems to be wrongly identifying who the player is.

Yes we have had a large turnover of players but even i know who is who when we are playing.

Jesus. Any Cov fan who thought the ball was “ miles over the line “ really does need to go to Specsavers!! You could tell on the stream at normal speed that it wasn’t even remotely close, and of course the ref looked at his watch, gave nothing, unlike the ref at PNE , who correctly gave them a goal. Deluded blind idiots.
