Xi Jinping reported as "doubling down" on zero covid as their congress opens. Out of character for a nation with poor regard for human life. They must know something we don't know. What's coming next?

From the outstanding "Little Earthquakes" album. I still play that once or twice a year after c 30 years. "Crucify" my favourite though.

Re the country - it's always difficult to decipher what's really going on there or predict what they'll do next. (Hence the "inscrutable" stereotype I guess).

As a resident of Shanghai, I have to ensure that I have a covid test every 72 hours and the threat of lockdown is an ever present (just come out of a 3 day lockdown(.

Guilty conscience for allowing the spread of Covid at the outset. Complicit is the WHO. I need to go to Shanghai but who wants to spend 10 days in a hotel room at one's own cost. Xi is screwing up the Chinese economy.
