Does anyone know if tonight’s game is on Sky Red Button?

Yes, it is.

I tried watching it the last time we were on there, and it seemed very blurry.

Red Button game has a commentator but no co-commentator
It does not show any replays of goals or any other prominent incidents
However I prefer games on Red Button as you don’t have to put up with the constant chat of Hinchcliffe Hendrie or Goodman

If you are watching Sky Sports via Virgin Media, I think it still works on the red button. Channel 503 I think, not 501.

On the BT-TV box it is 442 which is NOW TV's Sky Sports Football HD channel

So if you have a NOW TV pass, can you watch it?

Yes, but it doesn't look like you can until you can. It doesn't show up until nearly kick off and it's down at the bottom of the screen rather than where you might expect it be amongst the main Sky Sports listing.

Virgin Media red button on 513 wasn't working last night. (I don't have 503 so I don't know if it worked there.) Virgin apparently know about the issue, it's not the first time it's happened, and they'll fix it as soon as possible.

Red button is non HD which is a bit sh!t. Most streams I've had have been better quality.

I have heard you can watch red button on the SkyGo app on the moby, but I had a look and it's not obvious.

Good to see it wasn't just me that had that problem last night, I thought there was something wrong with my remote.

Can streams be cast from mobile to TV, even if the 'smart' tv is around 9-10 years old?

Your phone will try but whether the tv will accept is another matter!

:D Does the TV need anything special plugged into it or installed? It's connected to Wireless/router.

The TV cost over £1000 in 2013 so you'd think it could still do something like this.

If you have Sky Sports it doesn't require any "red button" anything. Just go onto football and scroll across. All the Championship matches were there last night.

Can you cast from phone to TV via wireless, without the need to connect anything such as Chromecast?

No. Casting is prohibited from Mobile to SMART TVs

For Virgin Tivo viewers:

You have to scroll down the various Sky sports channels on the channel menu until you get to a football one which is NOT in HD.
When you press the red button on that, wait a few seconds and a lower case "i" for info pops up bottom left.
Press the "i" button on your remote and hey presto, all the red button games are displayed to choose from.
Just be aware it's not HD obvs, there's only one camera angle (main stand), no replays of any sort inc goals and whilst only one commentator might be a blessing these days, he sounds like he's coming from a garden shed in Hounslow. Probably is.
Good luck and hope this helps.

I tested last night's red button games on virgin media and it worked. You need to do as Alf above says.

Never really done any casting before - not even the fishing type on here.
You learn something every day. Connected my tv to wireless and using Google Chrome by simply right-clicking mouse and cast from PC to TV. Might be better off using a decent Stream as opposed to the Sky Sports red button.

I've read that you cannot use red button on sky go however you can on the sky sports app. Anyone know if this correct?

This from virgin media forum:
When using the red button on a Tivo/V6 (503 was the correct channel for the football last night) you should then press the info button. This brings up a menu so you can select the game you want to watch.

For those using a 360 box, then after pressing the red button you should press the contextual (3 dots) button on the remote control. This brings up a menu so you can select the game you want to watch.

Watched it on the sky button picture was dreadful and don’t think the commentator paused to draw breath.

I did too. The picture was very poor, a struggle to tell the teams apart at times, and my word - that commentator. I don't there is a Burnley or Birmingham City based statistic left in the entire world. Terrible commentary.

I thought the squeaking every 30 seconds was most annoying. The poor picture made it look like a colour clash too. We probably should have worn black

Watched on iPad on sky sports app, think you notice the difference between HD and not HD, possibly floodlight strength too. I found it difficult to differentiate between the strips, always prefer us playing in yellow in an away midweek game when the opposition play in blue.

Had sound turned off, so certainly agree with colour clash and I remember saying to my wife when the teams came out all our players seemed to have blond hair.
Owts better than nowt and we are spoiled by other live coverage and suddenly Benson appeared on my screen. Unfortunately he wasn’t the “genie out of the bottle”, perhaps I might have known had I had the sound on?.

Like I said yesterday it was nearer to watching someone play Minecraft.

In the end, I watched the score updates on Sky Sports, as none of the streams posted were great either (or had about 786 popups when you clicked to play)

Sky have said the squeaking noise was the dying mouse struggling to run round its wheel trying to make the one camera in use turn a bit

The picture was the same one being used on Birmingham's feed, so I'm not sure whether it is the club's video or Sky's. It was definitely in HD but the contrast was poor and made it difficult to tell the two teams apart.

It was the same the last game I watched on Red, might have been last week or the week before. Which suggests it's probably down to Sky.
