Burnley fans throwing things over the concourse into the Sunderland fans. Anyone see what happened and the scale of it?

It's not great and I'm certainly not excusing it. But if away fans are up above home fans like that then netting should be in place, just makes sense.

Wankers ! Burnley are my second team but that was ******* shocking.
Well done though and good luck for rest of season!

Should any fans be above fans? Home fans can throw things above away fans.

Sorry to hear that Jacka. Absolutely inexcusable. Some real bellends in our support, I’m afraid.
Think you were hard done by today. 4 shots on target and 4 goals, one of them spectacular. Burnley don’t often do that, although we’ve been hard done by in plenty of games this season so maybe our turn for things to fall the right way.
Good luck for the rest of the season too.

You are a good team mate !
Burnley are my second team, my uncle was a certain ex claret from Sunderland who struggled to miss a pen !
You could see the threats were from the wide men ! Well done and make sure you go up !

Any ‘fan’ caught throwing projectiles from above should get a lifetime ban and maybe even a custodial sentence.
Disgusting behaviour and has no place in any part of a civilised society.

There should have been, followed by banning orders and criminal proceedings. Throwing anything at a football match is absolutely idiotic.!

Obviously we don't know how bad it was, but it must happen often. Sunderland put a ready made notice up on the big screen asking away fans not to throw missiles into the stands.
Disgraceful if any of our fans have been doing it though.

Those who went to the game, you'll know what happened. You'll know the people who did it.
So you've gone to the effort of buying a ticket and you might have gone with other fans, and then done that?

I wasn’t feeling that at HT Jacka!
Your uncle was a bit before my time but a real claim to fame.
Tough couple of games for you guys, will get easier &’hope your injuries improve.

Seems a bit strange, as the lower away tier in front of the Burnley fans was completely empty and from the upper away tier you can't even see the home fans in the lower tier of the stand!

I'm too young to have watched your uncle for Burnley, but as kids we always used to go to his sports stall on Burnley Market for a chat with him.
He was always happy to chat with us.

Oddly enough I saw a recent Match Time Revisited from 1981and one ground - possibly Goodison - had a big sign up asking fans to 'Please Refrain From Throwing Missiles'.

Embarrassing and cowardly - shame it has took the gloss off somewhat. Some of our lot at away ganes (i.e. 16 y/o Stone Island brigade) wouldnt last 2 minutes outside of a crowd

Saw it was on the screen asking fans in the North Upper to not throw missiles.
Shocking if true, but I also ask was there no netting? I know teams like Sheff Utd have huge black netting between the stands. Shouldn't be needed I know but it's there for the small % of idiots.

I don't. We didn't turn up in the first half. In the second half they were blown away. A simply stunning comeback.

Peter Noble is one of the best players I've seen in a Burnley shirt and a complete professional. One of my all time favourites.
He owes me £5, mind. That shirt he sold me shrank in the wash.

The game was stopped due to a problem with referee technology but they’ve said that the pause helped them to manage the issue in the stands too. It wasn’t the primary reason it was stopped though.

At Birmingham on Wednesday when they scored there were Blues fans hanging over the stand above leaning over and giving it large. I seriously thought one of the pencil necks was going to fall over. To be fair nothing more than insults were thrown. Pi££ poor if our lot took it to the stupid extra level.can guarantee they are not hard lads and would bottle it toe to toe.

Heard it went off a bit after match, didn’t see anything as in black cat bar below you lot and stayed for a few after.

Looked to be the usual Stone Island clad, two-can van Damme virgins gesturing and posturing at each other, whilst some others who should have long since grown up also felt it necessary to prove they are hard as nails, and really brave little soldiers by gesturing and threatening said bunch of idiots.
My 12-year old son was confused by the behaviour and doesn't understand it. A more mature attitude than that which was on display from people 3 or 4 times his age!

Allegedly a flare was thrown that caused a minor injury to a fan in the lower tier. From where I was you couldn't see any screens so we hadn't a clue what was happening.
Saw the Burnley cops all running to a pretty brutal spat near the SoL Metro Station.
As for the stoppage the referee seemed to chat for quite some time to Craig Bellamy and then Mowbray

Didn’t see anything re the alleged missile throwing to be honest . I assumed at the time that the stoppage was due to a problem with the Referee/ Ref Assistants technology?

Radio Lancashire suggested the delay was because the fourth official's walkie talkie wasn't working properly - though why that should ever hold up a game is beyond me. They didn't mention crowd trouble.

A lot of good memories from years gone by ! Even a pub called Churchill’s I think.

We have some real **** bags posing as fans.
Do they not realise what contempt the human race has for them, they aren't men just embarrassing kids.
There has to be decent people around or among these arseholes, who can see what is going on, why can't you point them out to the stewards. Get the bastards kicked out, and a banning order on them, so they can't infest this club anymore.
There's not one of us, that wouldn't be fuming if our 8 year old child got hit on the head at a football match.
Evil only succeeds if good men stand around and do nothing. Have the courage to name and shame, and do the club a favour.

The game was stopped due to a communication problem for the referee.
