Taking Off Our Claret & Blue Glasses...The Rovers Game

Yes, I know there's a few games before it, but I think it's shaping up to be a fascinating match.
I think we're the better team on our day, and as long as we don't do owt stupid at the back, we should prevail.
However, they're obviously also firing on all cylinders, and getting good wins.
Thoughts?

We’re the better team, but Rovers are very capable of beating us if we’re not at the races.
Brereton has scored some peaches this season out of nothing, so we will need to be alert for the second balls in and around our box at all times.
Shaping up to be a real battle.

Fascinating game particularly if we are both top 3 when the game takes place. The main reason being the form of the two sides. One potentially unbeaten for a third of the season and the other can’t draw a game. Then you add in the style difference and the hype of the fixture with the atmosphere it all adds up to a potential classic. Could be anything tbh but very mouth watering. It would be nice to give them a real trouncing tbh.

If Blackburn have any sense they'll do all they can to make it a physical, horrible game. Not sure we have the players for a game like that. If you offered me a point now I'd take it.

Blackburn try and play similar football to us and their fans moan about getting caught out at the back.
They score some decent goals as well, like we have been doing.
So I can't see them going all defensive for one game, which would help them. Their style should help us.
They seem to have a very good keeper though, who will no doubt keep them in it.

Rovers are just gung ho, hence so many defeats.
They chuck the kitchen sink, which will make it hard for us with our defence, because they can score goals, but at the other end they are very vulnerable, and certainly to a team of our ability attacking wise.
It's a game we need to be careful with, but one we should win 9 out of 10. We just need to make sure we make no stupid, self inflicted errors, and we'll be reyt.

You can chuck any form books out of the window ... Its a derby and we all know its who steps up on the day that takes the Plaudits ... on paper we should bury em ...
Come on you mighty Clarets

Feel like they regularly score worldies which I keep thinking isn’t sustainable, but they are still at the top.

It's nice to win these games but it's where we end the season that matters

Certainly won't be easy they are sitting in the top 2 for a reason, and can score goals notably through Brereton.
Also as we found to our cost against Blackpool and PNE the opposition raise their game in a derby, and Rovers and their support will be right up for this,
Now if we can match their intensity then over the 90 minutes our quality should prove enough.
Depends which Burnley show up mind you, if it's the horror show from the 1st half yesterday we'll be in trouble, however if it's the sublime attacking unit that blew Sunderland away 2nd 45 we'll be heading into the WC break on the back of a big victory.

Birmingham hit the post at 0-0 yesterday, could have been a very different game.

Having watched both teams in 4 days you’ll beat them hands down.
Stop the big lad up top and job done!

My take on it... Watched them against Sunlan, and both of their goals shouldn't have stood. Sunlan should have had a peno immediately before BBD scores a worldie, their second is offside.
I know a lot of rovers fans who said Brum should have been out of sight yesterday and a draw would have flattered them.
In contrast.... we were poor at Brum, but I thought the better side. First half yesterday Sunlan were miles ahead of us in every aspect, second half, after the hairdryer at half time we were like prime Brazil. Play as we can we will absolutely blow them away. Fear nothing. It's only a another match against our nearest and dearest.

Difficult for a Claret to have anything positive to say about them, but watched them a few times and they have some good young kids in that team, think they will be there or there abouts come May....I just hope we are above them, the two games against them will probably be our most difficult of the season.

Why?
Because I still think we look an incredibly soft touch at times. And I hate losing to them.

If it’s the Burnley from yesterday I’d be more than happy with a 4-2 win. I wouldn’t go throwing statements like ‘which Burnley team turns up’ based on one half a game all season. We are the most consistent team in the league by a mile. By all accounts from people who watch them, including a mate at work who goes to watch them a lot but isn’t a Rover, when they are bad they are truly awful, which apart from half a game all season cannot be said of us.
All this apart we might be nowhere near each other come the game itself. After yesterday I have been reassured that we can go behind and still win easy. I believe we could be clear at the top by the time we play them. Rovers are the epitome of inconsistent this season. They were pretty much win a game lose a game prior to their last three games or so. Their fans, at least those I know and I work in Darwen when I’m in the office, are far from convinced they can keep it up. For some reason a lot of them don’t like Brereton either, saying they are a better unit without him. Strange but true.

2-0 down at half time. Win 4-2. Soft touch. I don’t think so personally. Yesterday we showed we are anything but. There is nothing about our game that is soft. So many bang on about defensive frailties yet we have one of the best defensive records in the division. It doesn’t make sense. Manager after manager. Opposition fans in hordes. All saying we are the best side in the league. Eustace at Brum. Mowbray yesterday. All saying the same.
Enjoy the ride. It’s fun.

It's got the makings of a classic but there again it's a Derby match so it could be a boring 0-0 . We know there weakness and they no ours , on form we are slight favourites.

I see Rovers in a false position. They aren't good enough to remain that high up the table. We are 10-12 points off what we really should be on.
No contest in a one on one. We are much the better team and it's not even close. We need to take the game to them. Attack, attack, attack.

Dreading it and can’t wait in the same instant. A lot riding on it in Whalley and excitement and chatter is building on both sides. Please don’t lose Burnley and it would be lovely to really tear into them.
