Early Patreon release is out tonight but Owen Coyle’s interview with Undr the Cosh will be on Spotify from tomorrow.

Some good stories about Blake and Eagles and interesting insight in to how he developed Jay Rod and good to hear stories of 08/09.

V interesting to hear his side of things about when he left.

The mere mention of his name raises hackles amongst the Statler and Waldorf set on here but that promotion season was unforgettable. He’s a big part of where we are now and I’ll definitely give it a listen.

He shouldn't be charging for 99.9% of stuff, so if anybody can put it on here, great.

He's manager of Scottish Championship side Queen's Park since the start of this season - they're third at the moment having just beaten top club Partick Thistle 4-0 away.

I have a very good friend who played golf with Owen around the time he left and one of the reasons ( not the only reason ) he left was that he wasn't getting paid at Burnley.

Had plenty of time to get his story sorted, whilst being well aware of peoples opinions of him.

Take what he says with a pinch of salt. Not saying he’s untrustworthy, but if he shook my hand, I’d count my fingers as he was leaving.

Having said that, great football and great times culminating in the Wembley victory.

Given Coyle's history, particularly around the matter of his departure from Burnley, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that's probably a lie.

Currently listening to the podcast, just covering his early career at the moment at Dumbarton, but with the weight he has added plus the accent, I just think of Susan Boyle.

A few points from Burnley:

Signed Eagles for 500k (thought it was more than that)
Played reserves at Burnley to help Rodriguez
Wanted to re-sign Andy Cole after his loan but we didn't have the money
Steven Thompson was the best signing he ever made
Highest paid player in Premier League was Steven Fletcher on £12,000 per week
Wanted 2 or 3 players in January 2010 window but club said no due to having no money
Never left us for Bolton for money. Deferred on bonus when he got us promoted to help the club
Contract had £1 Million compo to move clubs, or top 6 club for £3 million but Burnley insisted on £3 million compo from Bolton
The contract he signed at Bolton was exactly the same as Burnley
"10 years ahead" comment was about facilities
If we didn't go up under Coyle we'd never have gone up under Dyche

My best guess: to help with search engine results. Undr is more unique and the phrase in its entirety will appear all over the place.

Bands don’t chose dictionary words as their name for the same reason these days.

The story of Owen Coyle.
Galvanised the club, players and fans for a short period of time.
Gave the fans a great 18 months of exciting football, promotion through the most stressful but exciting route, and some wonderful cup runs / games.
Made the Turf as loud and atmospheric as I can remember in many years.
Held his own in Premier League…..until he got greedy.
Started to talk to their crook of a chairman to negotiate his exit whilst he was manager of Burnley.
Left to go to a club that paid him more.
Kept Bolton up
Sent Burnley down
Ran out of ideas and got sacked
Went to several other clubs and failed every time.
Made lots of money but never had success again as a manager….to the point that no other clubs would take a risk on him again.

Now resorting to trying to rewrite history.
Burnley were doing fine in the Premier League up to the point Coyle started to talk to Phil Gartside at Bolton. We had every chance of staying up based on the points we had gained up to mid December when he decided to take the money and run.

Grateful for a fantastic 18 months.
Not sure it follows that we would not have been promoted a number of seasons later under Dyche and Eddie Howe can take a lot more credit for that than Coyle ever can.

Cheers Judas - now jog on back to coaching at Buckie Thistle under 13s…..or wherever else you have ended up !

I do think we would have stayed up if Coyle had not left but suspect that we would have gone down the following season. The Bolton home game was so odd because we should have stuffed them after we equalised but we just stopped playing.

Currently at Queens Park, got them promoted last year through League One play offs and currently 3rd, I think, in Scottish Championship. However their budget compared to other Scottish Championship clubs is massive due to them selling Hampden Park to Scottish FA.

We were told at a shareholders meeting that Remco Van Der Schaaf was the highest paid player in our 1st Premier season despite never kicking a ball for us in the Prem.
He was on loan at Brøndby.
Contractual pay rise kicked in after promotion.

Bloody hell fire he's put some weight on. His face is as round as a football and his neck has melted.

I'll give it a proper watch later this week but I'll find it hard because he lies as easily as he breathes. I'll not have a clue what's true and what's not.

Just finished watching.

I can tell why ex-players like him. Comes across as easy to get on with and likes a laugh.

On the flip side, he did like to blow his own trumpet.

What he was correct on was that without what he did, we wouldn’t have had some of the most successful years in our history (started under him, and later carried on under Dyche).

Did a cracking job for Blackburn too :D

I don't see how anyone can over state what Coyle did for the club in that 2008-09 season. It was so unexpected, beyond belief.

I can forgive him for leaving us in whatever way he did because of that. I do not believe he would have kept us up in any case. What he achieved with a bunch of journeymen footballers was incredible.

Thoroughly enjoyed the podcast. I just can't get angry about his departure any more. He left, we moved on, we moved up and, most importantly, we had the last laugh. I must say he redeemed himself in the podcast a little bit by conceding that he should never have taken the job at Ewood. He also clearly has fond memories of his time with Burnley. Yeah, he's a bit full of himself, but I put that down to confidence and self-belief, something he has never lacked.
