I look at the the Prem results tonight and see the same old faces scrapping at the bottom. OK Florest are new but I cant help my heart thinking I'm glad we aren't there.

Yes we need the money but I'm enjoying being the big fish in the small pond. The Championship is so open and much more exciting....anyone can beat anyone...apart from us lol. Seriously, I wish this was the prem!

A completely different set of teams at the bottom this year compared to the usual. Interesting OP but I get the sentiment.

Everton in 11th, just four points above bottom club Forest........just as competitive as the Championship.

Here’s the problem, summed up perfectly by my Southampton supporting mate.

Tella…

He’s ripping up the Championship with Burnley

Yet, Saints, theoretically just a few places higher in the league ladder, didn’t deem him good enough for this season’s squad.

Message from my Leeds mate today following their result:

Hopefully leeds follow suit and get rid of our manager [a mutual friend is a Villa fan)….it’s hard to get enthusiastic to go any more. It’s so dull… Forgotten how to win mate, it’s dull. Team is spineless. They crumble and make stupid individual mistakes. Not learnt from last year. Club needs a full reset… I honestly think we have never grasped the return to the PL. signed some overrated players and don’t have the financial capability to really compete. It’s a shame as Leeds back in the PL should be a big thing but it’s just a bit of an anti-climax really. I had a lot more enthusiasm when we were in a competitive championship. I nearly didn’t go today and had to force myself to…”

The amount of money flying around means it’s very difficult to survive.

If we were in the Prem, I’m not sure we’d be seeing Benson or Zaroury this season…there’s no middle ground.

Burnley being relegated has allowed us that reset which my mate wants at Leeds. It should happen authentically in football, but it rarely does.

In all honesty i was gutted with relegation and saw it as potentially the start of a downward spiral. I had little confidence we would even steady the ship, sufficiently to challenge this season.

Have to take my hat off to the Burnley Board for the way they turned a bad situation round.

I’m enjoying it now and don’t miss the top-tier, but am looking forward to getting back; before the novelty wears off and steady decline can begin… as it must without the Premier money.

The majority of the PL clubs are just there to make up the numbers.
Whilst it may not be the same old faces at the lower end of the league, the complaints we're seeing/hearing from fans of other clubs are similar to what a number of our fans were saying for the last few seasons.

Boring, dull football, no excitement, not pushing the boat out on signings etc.

A number of fan bases are starting to realise their clubs are just there to make up the numbers.

Yes but most will be ignorant of the longer term effects of going down… and worse still staying down. When all the fancy cars start disappearing and the team bus is driven by the team Captain…

I don’t like the Premiership, but I know Burnley needs to be in it, and the sooner the better.

This idea that the Championship is a better league than the Premier League is still just a delusion because we're winning all the time. How many Sunderland fans think it's a great league when they were beating us 2-0 so brought on 5 players who cost millions of pounds and beat them?

No, no.....all clubs are fully aware of the financial consequences of relegation. From a Burnley perspective, it's imperative that we return to the Premier League (not Premiership) as quickly as possible.

Norwich

Probably have the best approach as long as it keeps working , we have 2-3 years to get back up or we will find it difficult.the board never sacrificing our wage structure or going full tonto on transfers means we have a fighting chance..

Not arguing, whether they know the financial implications. But anyone wishing to leave the Premier League, is always basing it on the assumption they can go back up at will. History says that is far from a given, that would happen.

They were on about the fans being ignorant about football finances.

Norwich blew their financial model apart last season, in the way many (including Sean Dyche) wanted Mike Garlick to do in his final years in charge.

Jeez, Norwich with wages of £118m last year! Managed to make a loss despite bumper revenue

Makes me wonder if we haven't underestimated our spend from last year.

There are sum absolutely nuts numbers in those results

Kieran Maguire has had a run through

https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 8381127686

the two that stand out for me are

Norwich wages were £88 for every £100 of income. Add in transfer fee amortisation costs and the total comes to £135 spent on players for every £100 of income. Average weekly wage of £45k highest in club history

Most of those liabilities would be based on them staying up, they didn't.
