Villa keen on Kompany

According to 'footy insider':

https://www.footballinsider247.com/asto ... y-sources/

Personally believe there is no way he would leave us at this point even to a big club like Villa.

I'm confident he would be the same as Michael Beale at QPR who just turned down Wolves.

Would like to think he’d be put off by Villa’s predicament and the trigger happy approach of their owners.

From a Villa perspective, they’ve just potted one “up and coming” manager who had no experience managing in the PL. Hopefully that experience would put them off.

Plus “Footy Insider” is hardly John Percy when it comes to midlands football reporting. If he reported it, then I’d be worried.

One step at a time is my advice to him.

Kompany is better staying put until he established us back in the premier League, let Gerard be an example as his premier League career is over for the foreseeable

Something interesting for those who say VK achieved 'nothing' at Anderlecht (you know who you are), they are currently 12th in the league, 13 points off top 4 and 5 points above relegation. Becoming more and more clear he did a very good job there, as he is doing (so far) here.

Still, can't see him leaving at this stage or Villa even making the move. Footy insider is pretty unreliable anyway.

If Villa offer him the job I’m pretty sure he’ll take it.

That’s what QPR fans thought about Beale to Wolves.

If you watch Beale’s interview I see striking similarities between him and VK.

I don’t think he’d take it.

While we’re doing well, we’ll have to get used to Kompany being linked to big jobs. I won’t lose any sleep until a respected reporter does a story on this though.

It wouldn’t do his reputation much good to leave a job after 4 months after building a squad he wants on substantial contracts

You’ve also got to think what it would cost Villa to get him and his staff

If VK ever hopes to become the manager of Man City he must know that we're he to get sacked in a similar time frame to Gerrard that would all but end his dream.

As others have said, sadly this will be a regular occurrence if we’re doing well (which we hope to be).

Personally hope that Kompany takes this opportunity to end any speculation.

It would be a massive risk for him to take that job. Gerrard got potted after losing just 1 game in 5, after less than a year in charge.

They want instant success with exciting football.

If he failed at Villa like Gerrard, where would he go then?

On the 2nd tier twitter post Villa fans think they are in advanced talks with Dyche.
We would still be due compensation seeing as we are still paying his wages. Same thing happened with Cooper at Swansea, Forest has to pay.

I can't see Kompany ending any speculation following a dross filled article by someone who seems to get weirder by the article.

He’s proved nothing yet and time is on his side before he decides on a bigger club. The fact that there’s interest just shows what a good job he’s doing.

Kompany strikes me a pretty serious and honest guy

He's convinced a lot of young talent to come here and sign long term contracts, and I can't see him leaving just yet for a club that is a complete basket case

Obviously we really don't want him to leave and that's why we're all convincing ourselves he'd stay. But imagine this was Villa interested in Kompany if he'd taken over at Norwich or Swansea in the summer. Looking on impartially, we'd all be fairly sure he'd go. This is just what happens 99% of the time.

I think it's more likely that Villa just aren't interested yet, but if they are, he'll take it.

Can't see Villa being interested in Kompany.

I would have thought they would be looking for someone more experienced with a track record at managing a club at the highest level

The very same page has a link to a story about Brentford's manager being lined up for £3m move/release clause. That seems a more logical move, the guy has done wonders at Brentford.

I know you are a glass half empty person in general judging off your posting history but what’s your opinion on why Beale didn’t take the job at Wolves? Similar / same situation no? Did you watch his interview?

Villa need a proven manager who can stabilise and progress the club on the pitch and commercially.

Dyche fits all those criteria. I can’t see them looking past him, the only derailment is if Frank has given them reason to be hopeful he might leave Brentford.

When was the last time a newbie manager outside the top six in the premier league was successful?

Kompany won’t go. Villa aren’t the club for him. He wants City as Gerard wanted Liverpool. I can easily see VK going to City once they’ve won the Champions League. Pep retires into consultation and leaves his back room to support VK.

His worth will be significantly higher by taking us up than Villa finishing in the bottom four or five in the PL and getting a few beatings in the process

Vincent Kompany is still working towards getting his coaching badges. He currently cannot manage in the Premier League.

Mick Beale was an assistant manager at Villa so that likely impacted upon his decision; he cited it in interviews.

I don't think it would be sensible for Kompany to leave for Villa especially after that 4-0 against Wolves, which would make you wonder whether there are dressing room issues there.

If we beat Norwich tomorrow there can be few doubts left that we are as good as and likely the best in the division.

And it hasn't been done on a massive budget given ALK has spent £50 million on shares nor on AI software given many of the new players have Belgian or City connections...

I am hoping for a cracking couple of seasons yet. Its been great fun so far. In terms of the away games, it has been a bit Coylesque in terms of the support he's getting.

I doubt Villa are interested. That's not a slight on Kompany. He is seriously talented but it is early in his career. I think he will get us into the EPL, do a season and then find the next job. I think he will get offers even if he were to get relegated from the EPL. Everyone is very aware of how limited our financial constraints are. I also think Villa have fairly shocking owners.

The big worry is Pep and City as far as jobs go. The City fans are watching keenly and broadly speaking seem pretty impressed with his management so far. I think his history with them carries a lot of weight and in that situation he might get the job a bit sooner than he is quite ready for.

This will definitely be an issue for us if he continues the way he's started, but I believe Unai Emery is the likely candidate for Villa so hopefully no panic this time round...

I'm sure, if true, VK will be flattered by the interest but being an intelligent pragmatic man, he will appreciate the opportunity he's been given to mould together a team built on his own footballing philosophy. He won't be given the time or opportunity to do that at Villa or other Prem teams lurking at the bottom of the table. I'm sure he'll also appreciate leaving so soon after asking players to come and play for him just doesn't look good and erodes trust in him. That said, I think we accept VK isn't here for a Dychesque reign, but i feel he won't leave yet.

Out of interest if (when) we get promoted, and he’s still doing his badges presumably that’s ok?

Even before he joined Burnley, he always struck me as someone with principles and intellect. I just can’t see him jumping ship so soon after speaking of his long term ambitions here.

Not that I expect him to be here even half as long as Dyche, but not yet.

Sure there’s a been a precedent where there was a manager appointed without the full qualifications, as long as they are working towards it

Can’t recall who it was though
