Outstanding save.
I’ll just highlight (again) he’s one of the top shot stopping keepers in the division according to all the underlying data.
Not bad for someone who can’t make a save.

He always stays big until he has to make the decision. He could develop into a very good keeper.

who would be a keeper? Must be the only position on the pitch whereby if you play well you’re a hero…..make a mistake and it’s a goal against you just about every time and you’re a villain.
For me, he has done okay so far this season. Maybe could/should have stopped a few goals from being conceded but you can’t doubt his ability with the ball at his feet which is a must for the way we now play.

I hope not I imagine he would be significantly better than Jenson.

Was about to say the same. There has been a marked improvement in his distribution which was top class today. Also his decision making in terms of when to just launch it rather than try the short pass

He got the team 2 points tonight .
End of story, come May we could be champions because of that save .

Even without that save his performance was excellent. Just observing the difference between him and Gunn reinforces how valuable he is in terms of retaining and controlling the ball. Norwich are a very good team but they were playing deep so with Gunn launching it every time he received it they just couldn’t get into the game.

This, probably one of the biggest improvements I've seen from this season is his decision making.

Close to MOM for me tonight. Massive save, some huge takes in difficult situations and distribution was faultless.

Think some folk should think twice before they criticise our players, didn’t go to City because he was **** ,is going to be a beast of a keeper.

That pass he made to the halfway line from the clearing header- I’m sure that was deliberate.

Do we have a specific goalie coach or is it done by the main coaching staff, I can't remember the main guys name - Jelle is it?! I saw a clip on one of the training videos showing Kompany spending some time with the keepers. Interesting times, loving it all

Jelle is the goalie coach, to answer my own question! On a slight tangent I've not seen much of the other coach Kompany brought in, floribert? I thought he might take quite a prominent role.

The header from outside his box to Maatsen/Anass (can’t recall which) was his best of the night

Don't agree with the OP's subject/headline. Should be forgiven for nothing. He's pulled off two game winning saves in the last two games alone.

Looked confident all game, apart from the bizarre dive for the corner in injury time.
Great save just before that.

They certainly had none in first half

But that's his job !!
Was very good last night. No drama. Sharpened up on his passing. Then a fantastic save at the end after having not much to do

2 according to the stats
The Pukki shot, and I’m assuming the Cantwell chance the JBG blocked twice

Had a quiet night then made a great save when called upon, Pukki was waiting for him to go down to his right but he stayed big and pulled off a good save. He also came and collected a couple of crosses just moments later which really took the pressure off. Very assured with his feet too.

Last night will have done him the world of good, distribution superb, good decision making and a top class save to keep the 3 points. He'll get a lot of confidence from that. Nice of him to come the full length of the pitch to give some kid his shirt at the end.

In small world news, it turns out that 'some kid' is my bro's girlfriend's nephew. He really wants to be a keeper so he's buzzing. Lovely stuff.

For those who criticise his reluctance to deal with crosses, I think they've probably just been spoiled by Pope who was one of (if not) the best at that in the Premier League. Muric is above average at stopping crosses by Championship GK standards.

I never fully understand these charts - is this saying that Ruddy is the best performing keeper using those specific metrics?

From one of the shakiest starts to a keeper that I can remember (when it comes to the core goal prevention duties anyway) he's massively winning me over.
I was a huge critic of his early performances, I wanted him to prove me wrong and he's on track to now. The save last night was absolutely top drawer and he's cut out the vast majority of sloppy or overly risky passes. Improving at an incredible rate and I'm very glad to see it.

Yes. Purely on those two metrics he's performing best, averaging 0.3 goals prevented per 90 over what would be expected and stopping 10% of crosses faced. The dotted lines are the averages.

forgiven for what exactly ? Like the rest of the team he's a young lad learning the game. If he manages to put it all together over the next few years or so he'll be sold for way more than we got for Nick Pope

I’ve given him a lot of grief this season but I was buzzing for him and for us when he saved the game last night. That’s what we need! UTC.

I think he will be the fall guy when our new play it from the back fails… he is potentially very good. Like most keepers he needs confidence. I’d be more happy if we still had Billy Mercer.

Most keepers I know do not lack confidence. Far from it. They are a of a certain breed. Fair point on Billy Mercer though
