Blackburn - anyone else not care?

Interested to hear other Clarets thoughts on this, of course I'm in the minority.

I don't regard Blackburn as any different to most games. I have never lived in or around Burnley and I don't know any Blackburn fans - I've only ever met one, and am no longer in touch with him. Bragging rights are irrelevant for a Blackburn fixture.

My derbies are the teams that my friends and colleagues support - a heavy southern bias, but that does include PNE. Southampton, West Ham and Tottenham are the main ones, plus QPR, Brentford, Chelsea, Reading amongst one or two others.

Fully aware I'm in a very small minority here but interested if there are any others who feel the same.

For me personally, a lot of interest in this fixture dissipated when the 'herding like cattle' was introduced.
And for a slightly less reason, it's quite a while since I've been to Molineux.

As long as we're above them I don't mind them.

I'm not one of these that wants to see them go bust, though. Or any club for that matter.

Bragging rights yeah of course

Went to school with/best mates with and work/worked with many Blackburn fans.

The ‘hate’ stuff and vitriol from some fans of sides is pathetic imo.

Really not into fake hard men giving it the big ‘un when separated at footy matches - it’s beyond pathetic

Now we have the upper hand and an unbeaten run against them, all i'm interested in is keeping the run going for as long as possible.

I'm with the OP. It's just another opponent that I want 3 points from, I don't care who it is

I can't say I'm with the OP on this one. Not even close.

Bragging rights matter if you live in the area, no doubt.
Otherwise, the upcoming home game is, like Sheff Utd away, is another excellent opportunity to crush a rival.
If we absolutely dismantle them, so much the better.
If we draw or even lose, its not the end of the world.

I'm another that it's just 3 points for, suspect it's because I've been away a while though

I want them to get promoted.

I'd want them to be 2nd and us 1st and it be a ding dong until the last game.

I don't hate them, what reason have any of us got to hate them? I want us and them in the Prem. Get the area back on the map.

I'd prefer them to always be in a division below, and we meet sometimes in the cup.

It’s a bigger game for them than it is for us. Their cup final, like it was for PNE recently.

I don’t hate them. Hate is too strong an emotion for a football club. I do however hope they lose every game they play unless our own success depends on a different result.

I don't have the remotest of interest in them. It's really irrational to have depth of emotion about it, and in fact, is a form of prejudice. I learned this when a buyer for a haulage firm based in the region declined to do business with me when he learned I was a claret. The guy should have been reported to his upper management, it's just utter nonsense and benefits nobody, apart from coach firms

I don't hate them certainly. I think hating a football club and/or its fans is weird, especially when it gets to the point of physical violence or mocking Jack Walker's death.

However, rivalry in football is fun. Really looking forward to playing them.

It’s not exclusive to this area , before I took on the career
suggested by my username I worked for a large national company with a regional structure ..
Sunderland branch was in a region of its own with one branch because the regional manager was a Mag from Gateshead and they wouldn’t speak to each other ..

Can't stand them, pampered tarts who have only ever won things throughout their history when it was bought for them by a benefactor.
Simon Jordan has commented a few times how they started the wage explosion due to Walker.

Would like to batter them both times this season and finish above them.

Would also like them to drop down the leagues; Ewood Park be a Tesco; groundshare with Darwen; their big derby game can be Padiham; every season it's a scramble to raise enough money to keep the leccy on until it feels as if it'd be more of a relief to put the whole thing out of it's misery but at the last minute they're rescued by some shady consortium who strip the club of whatever piddling assets the club are managing to cling onto before scarpering and leaving them on the edge all over again, and again, and again. And every few years we draw them in the cup. If it's a home fixture for them they have to beg North End to borrow Deepdale to fit us all in as we watch the Clarets put ten past them yet again.

Other than that, totally agree with the OP.

Want us to beat them twice, and then for us to be promoted automatically while they miss out on the play off's on the final day that would be hilarious to witness.

Certainly don't hate them but then I'm one of the exiled fans so it might well be different for those who live and work alongside Rovers fans.

However given the option of winning both derbies or gaining promotion the latter is a priority for me, that said it would be satisfying to maintain our recent long unbeaten run over them.

Very much like the OP.

Being Hertfordshire born and bred i've never been subjected to any of the bitterness that obviously exists between large sections of the support of both clubs. It is funny though having a little gloat or two with the odd equestrian fancier I meet now and again.

That said I always want to beat them when the fixture comes round.

i want us to beat every team twice.
I don't come from Burnley so I'm probably missing something in terms of local rivalry, but I would like them to be promoted with us because these are the sort of derby games you want.
But I cannot stand "No Nay Never" and the "We hate B'st@rds" bit does Burnley FC no favours whatsoever.

28/03/2010 last time the beat us.

Would be nice for that to continue a little longer.

Hopefully VK understands the significance of the fixture.

It’s Bradford City for me, who I hate with a passion.

I suppose I’ve had the rivalry with their fans growing up that someone living in and around Burnley would with Rovers.

Rovers is a game I definitely want to win but I probably have more animosity towards PNE than Rovers.

I just look on PNE as the team that's failed miserably numerous times to get in the Prem.

I really don’t like derby games. They are levellers and evoke too much emotion. Whether it’s blackburn, preston, blackpool or bolton just prefer to be in league above all that crap

This board has plenty of posters from all over the country and it's obvious on this thread.

To local fans who had to put up with them gloating for years while we languished in the 4th division and then their glory years.
It means everything.

It’s hard to understand folk not getting it, but I respect the fact that it’s all about the environment you grow up in.
I remember holding my nose in the car as a 4/5 year old if we drove through Blackburn 😂

Let’s not kid ourselves here; that lot would be more than happy to see us erased from existence! Too many planes flying over t’Turf have proven that over the years!

I always remember as a kid growing up, when I played against Blackburn youth teams just how brutal some of these games were and I don’t mind admitting how much pleasure I took from smashing a few opponents with a few ‘interesting’ tackles! Took a few myself mind you do YES IT BLOODY WELL DOES MATTER! (IMO) 😂

My feelings have softened but prior to us going above them I absolutely hated Blackburn as a football team and enjoyed the fact that their results meant almost as much to me as our own results.

I was absolutely desperate for us to beat them and to me football is at its best when you genuinely care about the result and hating a team and wanting them to lose can give you as much enjoyment as loving a team and wanting them to win.

Where I drew the line though was that I hated the team and club as an entity but I had no hate or negativity to the people who played/worked for that club or the fans who supported them.

In 00/01 I shared a flat with a Blackburn season ticket holder and whilst it killed me to lose to them my hate for the club was completely separate to my feelings about him as one of my best mates

Also the local Rovers fan is a right gobshite. He'll be insufferable if they win or draw

My boss in ‘95 was one of them who lived in Darwen and he was absolutely insufferable at the time. I also remember the late 70s and early 80s games before the long stint of not playing them - the hatred came from that era for me. Even though I’ve lived down South for 25 years it still is and always will be the only real Derby for me. I can’t stand them.

Ive spent most of my life "down South" and never really had much interaction with their fans BUT there is something I really dislike about that club so Im quite happy to fully embrace the loathing. The way they bought the League, that terrible antiquated halved kit, dislikable players like El Hadj Diouf, Fatty Dunne, Simon Garner , Noel Brotherston's terrible hair back in the '70s and the tendency of their fans to chuck bricks at us as we were escorted from Mill Hill Station ......I can't stand 'em and really hope we can dish out a hammering in two weeks' time.
