Could waste time better than Nick Pope. Lol.

Got his just desserts the plonker. Made some good saves though.🀣

Their keeper did not waste any more time than any other goalkeeper in all 4 Divisions.
Burnley fans seem to expect him to release the ball within 1 second of collecting it

He was holding the ball for 20+ seconds at a time. Don’t blame him as the clueless referee had no idea how to control the game.

Felt a bit sorry for him, he was brilliant until the winner.

He pulled of some amazing saves in fairness and wasn't the worst time waster.

A good keeper. He did what he needed to do like it or not. It's OK us being all high a mighty when Pope did the same thing but that's what we wanted him to do. It's tuff at the top.

Yes, that's about right, Doug.
His only mistake really

Is the 6 second rule officially abolished, or can a keeper technically still get penalised for it?

Nope, still the law.

The foul throw law made a comeback at the weekend after about 20 years absence, so might be waiting a while for anyone to enforce the 6 seconds.

What's the penalty for it, assuming a ref gives it?

Why can't the linesmen account for this - they barely even have to give offside these days, so why not have them count to six?

I guess they add a few seconds if they see fit to do so.

Does anyone know where the 6 second rule is stated in the Laws of the Game, if at all ?

Indirect free kick.

Liners are under strict instructions to only give ins and outs these days, and only in the direction the referee tells them.

Law 12. In the 'indirect free kick' section.

The keeper's time wasting wasn't particularly egregious, I thought. It was the "lie down and pretend to be injured" timewasting that was the real stinker.

Can't think of much time wasting from the keeper I thought he had a good game. Their right back was the main culprit who was finally subed plus a host of others

Could it be anything to do with Billy Mercer, who if I'm not mistaken was on their bench.

The goalie was bad, but their number 10 spent more time sat down on the pitch than upright last night.

Billy Mercer played for Rotherham and if they've got him in as goal keeper coach they will do well
Billy coached 3 keepers we had to become full internationals. The best gk coach in England

Made some very good saves and did as much as the referee let him get away with. Certainly kept them in the game a few times.

More than once
I got to 20 seconds on the watch at one point

I know Pope did it alot, and Muric does it from time to time. But I still dont like it when we do it, and I really hate it when opposition keepers do it. I really like the 6 second rule, and I have no idea why referees aren't implementing it. Same with foul throws, blocking free kicks, kicking the ball away, sneaking yards with throw ins and free kicks. The rules are there to stop it, so why don't referees just do their jobs? It'd make the game much better

Part and parcel of Rotherhams ridiculous time wasting tactics. In fairness their goalkeeper was doing what most sides would be doing to secure the point(s). He was a bit naughty though when deliberately leaving his shin pad outside the penalty area and should have been booked.

The other stuff, such as constantly dropping with 'injury' every time we were building up pressure got what it it deserved by the referee at the end with the added time.

Stupid ref doesn't seem to think it's time wasting for him to hold onto the ball for 10 seconds then spend 10 seconds walking to the edge of the area to kick it out.

Bring back the 3 steps rule or whatever it was. It's a pisstake these days!

I’m still waiting for the return of obstruction, when the ball isn’t in playing distance, but I think I’ll have a long wait.

Did there used to be a rule limiting the number of steps a goalkeeper could take whilst they had the ball in their hands?

He had a good game. OK he spilled one from a very decent shot, as Pope did for England and Pickford did in a recent match as well but he was a good keeper. But the standards of refereeing vary quite a bit. Muric was booked last week doe running out to talk to one of our players YET this guy was not even spoken to by the referee. He might well though, reflect on the10 minutes of added time.
