Pope was the best in the league for claiming high balls - we've now probably got the worst. Not his fault for the defeat, but never takes the pressure off

Unfair to blame him solely. Certainly his indecisiveness created a bit of panic in the box, but defensively as a unit we were far too slow to react and bullied time and time again. The warning signs have been there. We need a strong experienced centre half I think.

Can't put all the blame on him as the defenders were just as horrific, but he can't continue to play for us if that's what he's going to be like from crosses.

Teams will target him every single game and rightly so.

Muric is appalling at most things but can pass. The defence have no idea how to defend but can pass.
We’ve looked like conceding at just about every corner this season and today’s score was going to happen at some time.

I don't particularly like Muric but you can't blame him for the fact Beyer is so weak an anorexic 2 year old midget could push him off the ball and beat him in the air.

Bad game for the group not muric
He pulled some great saves and more so in recent games

They approached us different to other teams and won. Home advantage. Scrappy goals. It happens

Lost 2 in 20. Not worried at all. Take it out on bastards next week

No idea what he was thinking most of the game. But this also applies for our defenders, Bastien was a passenger also. Desperately needed a focal point up top to relieve pressure too. VK will learn from this . UTC

He wasn’t. He didn’t fill himself with glory but definitely not the worst on the pitch.

The game passed Cork & Cullen, Maatsen was abysmal and the 2 Center backs in my sons under 10s did better than those Breyer & THB.

Sheffield Utd fans were on to him. They knew he had no confidence. He's got to go. Agreed the defence had a shocker today too, but Muric was hopeless. He will lose us games if he stays.

A six foot four keeper takes pressure off the defence by actually coming for high balls being pumped into the box..not this fella he just freezes and shlts himself everytine a ball comes near him.
With his passing skills I'd play him in midfield he certainly isn't a keeper

He is going to pull SOME saves off because they had so many shots. We cannot blame the defence for him being static. We let Hennessy go on a free because he wanted to better his WC chances, yet he has not played a league game this season, and Ward who is Leicesters first choice will wear the No 1 shirt

Could have done better for their 3rd to close down mcburnie and his inability to command anything in his area meant there were a lot of scrambles initiated but the major fault isn't there but with the inability of pretty much all the outfield to compete - we were OK for 10 mins in the 2nd half and once the 3rd went I we lost every challenge, second to every first second third and fourth ball - he can't really legislate for that can he

Muric didn't exactly cover himself in glory today but our defending was far worse. We looked hopeless against crosses and long throw ins.

We do need a new goalkeeper I think - I’d be looking at an experienced out of favour one in January. Someone like Wayne Hennessey ;) . At fault for the goals today? Possibly not (would need to see them again, something I’ve no intention of doing in the near future) - but he set the tone unfortunately and the atmosphere got on top of him as it became abundantly clear to the Blades fans that he was dodgy. He made two really good saves second half as well. He can pass a ball decently, but it’s not enough to justify this I’m afraid. We’ve benefitted hugely from that distribution on a few occasions, but the reason I think we need to seek out an alternative now is that it has just become a big flashing light to the rest of this division how to beat Burnley - pump crosses in at this guy, as he won’t catch anything. I also fear Muric will be so shot of any confidence that things could unravel quickly in the subsequent games - there’s an argument to be made that Peacock-Farrell starts against Blackburn.

Let’s have it absolutely right though, the defence were equally, if not MORE culpable today though, they barely won a header. Our full backs were horrible, it’s time for Roberts and TAYLOR to be playing from the start in their correct positions. Vitinho and Maatsen can be the ‘chasing a game’ option, it would probably suit them much better. Time to look at a 6’4 option in January to come into the centre as well and compete with Beyer, who in the last few games has started to look a weak link.

This game has taught us and Kompany an awful lot - the big worry is that it’s taught the league an awful lot too. It’s been just about as bad as possible for us today in that regard. We all knew Muric and our defences weaknesses, if we’re honest, before today. Our fantastic play, form and results meant it went unpunished and thus largely ignored. Today is the blueprint for every single team we will go up against - it’s for that reason (unless miraculous coaching can be done) that big decisions will need to be made.

Genuinely asking - could it be the case that he has to try to come for balls he has no chance in getting to because the defenders aren't dealing with anything coming into the box?

A few times today Sheff U had a player on Muric and no Burnley player near them to clear them out of Muric's way when the cross came in.

I said early season I hadn’t made my mind up. I have after that, he has to be replaced.
A 6’6” keeper who can’t come and catch, won’t go through somebody to claim the ball and plays some nightmare passes out to our MFs is not good enough. He makes great reflex saves but so do most other young keepers, inc. BPF. It’s decision making that marks out a good keeper and this guy rarely makes a good one.

He was awful but he wasn't alone - we were defensively inept.

There were three main problems. Muric was fragile, all the defenders were weak and, linked to the first point, Muric harmed the back four's confidence in front of him early on.

I was well positioned to watch those dynamics in the first half (and that was obviously our better half) - just 30 yards from our goal line - and there were several times when the defenders, particularly THB, were perplexed at Muric.

Not great today and has to learn to deal with that physical pressure in English football but he wasn't protected remotely well enough. The full backs were exposed defensively in open play and the back four as a whole was exposed at set plays as lacking physically and for experience. This was a game for Roberts and Taykor, but Beyer's lack of physicality was also just as much a concern as Muric's handling.

Poor performance from Muric today but arguably the two centre backs were worse. Typical hyperbole from some, whose views I now know to avoid, but he has to work on it and get stronger and more commanding - it’s not like he doesn’t have the frame for it.

Also, Kompany got it wrong with his defensive selection considering who and where we were playing. Taylor and Roberts should've started.

Sheff U manager was very smart at ht. He saw Muric flapping around like a drowning man and just told his team to lump it in under the par then pick up pieces. He also noted Murics out ball to midfield which he continued to use despite them having a player challenging Tella almost before he got the ball. This meant we had no way out and they could pile on the pressure. Well done to them. Tactical fail by VK in second half. Needed Roberts Taylor JBG on for Benson ( who had done job) and Vitinho and Maatsen who are great going forward bu shocking defensively

Goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands for a good reason but this defensive advantage they are given over opposing attackers is being wasted by a goalkeeper who is absolutely useless in dominating crosses into the box.

This is what your defenders want in the six yard box!

While some are happy to turn a blind eye , Muric was a gift from heaven today for a big strong Sheff Utd side
