Not sure if this has already been mentioned but didn't we lose 5-2 to Blackpool in Jimmy Mullen's march to the Division 4 Championship after a disastrous performance?
I seem to remember Mark Kendall having an absolute nightmare and we came back from Bloomfield Road with our tails between our legs. It didn't do us any harm in the grand scheme of things and today's under par performance was just a blip.
I would sooner lose today than lose to that blue n white **** next Sunday.

Certainly no need to panic after one bad half, but the manager and players do need to show a reaction in the upcoming home games which I'm confident they will.

Just for perspective - Jack Cork was the only player in the starting 11 today that was at the club in May

For another perspective:

The 5-2 loss against Blackpool was largely down to a new goalkeeper, who was not up to standard.

The 5-2 loss today was down to our inability to defend crosses, which has been evident for a long time now.

The situations are only superficially similar.

Next league game week after 2-5 Blackpool defeat was a 4-1 home win. I’d take that next Sunday.

I don’t think anyone is panicking and pretty much to a man, we are all delighted with what we’ve delivered so far. I think it’s fair to say that we’ve exceeded expectations, at this stage.

There are though some glaring issues. Not issues that only arose today, ones that have been evident for much of the season. They’ve been overlooked somewhat because of our forward play and of course because we’ve been getting plenty of points.

Highlight them on here, when we are sat at the top of the table and you’re negative or never happy. Just as when winning a league title you don’t rest on your laurels the following season, identifying and resolving areas for improvement isn’t only required when doing poorly.

I’m delighted with what I’ve seen so far but for me, the key areas that need work are defence and goalkeeper (the zonal system isn’t working and we are far too vulnerable), attacking midfield (Jay dropping deep isn’t right, Brownhill isn’t the answer, despite some good results and performances).

We are a really young team and a new team which has to be taken into account. We can though looks at the area for improvement without being negative and still enjoying what we have delivered to date.

What? Of course we need to panic, this is the Bee Hole Forum and as the team's lost, we have an obligation to rant and rave, elect scape goats and discuss who we get to manage/coach the team when we're inevitably relegated to the 1st Division. So, to get the ball rolling...



That was a bit of a bugger.

If Sheffield United beat Rotherham at home on Tuesday, they go top on goal difference. I think I'd rather be second rather than top when we play Blackburn, we wouldn't want them knocking us off top spot in the unlikely event of them getting a result.

We rolled into Rotherham on the back of a big comeback win against Reading, sitting top, playing well, good winning run going on, loads of goals, and what happens? we concede in the opening few minutes against a bang-average side. Perhaps we didn't show them enough respect, but whatever, we get the win in the end, and everyone is buzzing, then we roll into Sheffield a bit tired, and perhaps with a little bit of top-of-the-table hubris, thinking about opening a up a real gap, and lo and behold we get absolutely pumped in the second half. Sometimes you need to get slapped like this to sharpen minds. Good a time as ever for it to happen: midweek cup game to regroup and put it right, then go into Rovers with absolute humility and Jay and Brownhill back in the team...and work, work, work.
