Played for both. A chat with Kevin Hird.

Post by Pickles » Fri Nov 11, 2022 9:57 am

Ahead of the derby, I spoke with Kevin Hird for a podcast I do with a Rovers fan about all things East Lancashire derby.

We heard about how he knocked on the doors of Burnley and Rovers asking for a trial, how the Rovers manager went in person to Primet High in Colne to sign him, scoring against and signing for Burnley under Bond, his time at Colne Dynamoes, and his work at the Rovers academy.

A boyhood Burnley fan who's crossed the divide and back again, we always wanted Kevin as our first guest as he is so uniquely positioned. There aren't many with a story like his. It was fantastic talking to Kevin, very grateful to him for sharing his time and tales.

I've included the Spotify link although it can also be found on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and wherever else you get your podcasts, as well as lanclasico.com

https://open.spotify.com/episode/1C7xXg ... =copy-link

We also released our derby preview episode this week.

Thanks!

Thanks! We try and get the balance right between daft and serious. I was dreading us drawing them in the cup last night coz then I'd have to spend more time with one of them from down the road than I already do!

Went every Wednesday night to his soccer coaching classes at Park High School and to his Easter and Summer soccer schools, which were usually held at Rolls Royce in Barlick. Great memories and we always have a good catch up when we bump into one another. Did an awful lot for the kids in the community back then.

Just going to give this the bump it deserves, I've listened to the two full episodes and I am part way through the chat with Kevin Hird.

If your of a podcast persuasion, I'd recommend giving it a listen there's quite a bit of humour and bants in there. Certainly laughed out loud at the childish but funny WAN CLASSICO and for now what is called the Fickle Valley.

Good work, so far!!!
