Great report Tony and your feelings about the derby and also how you felt yesterday morning very much mirrored mine.
And the T20 was very much an enjoyable distraction for me too !!
I did love watching the full replay last night and in particular all the interviews, reactions of the players and all the management team and the fans. Enjoyed these almost as much as the game. Seeing David Dunn and him having to talk through gritted teeth about how good we were just rounded off a perfect day !!

Great match report Tony. Not entirely convinced that fireworks are as dangerous as implied but that’s a trifle.
The important stuff is the result and the bragging rights.

I love that photo of Tella. It doesn't even need the fingers, the sheer joy on his face is magic.

Did you see how near one of them was to landing on a player ?
Personally I think firing a firework into the sky to land in a stadium of 20,000 people is pretty dangerous and there was a hell of a lot of luck in nobody being hit.

If falling fireworks were that dangerous they'd be banned entirely. There'd be fatalities every 5th November.
See video below for explanation of one of the dangers of falling fireworks.

If the fireworks had been set off inside the ground it'd be entirely different. But they weren't.

That image of Ash shoving their keeper into the back of the net when scoring his first will stay with me for a long time.
A comprehensive thumping all round.

Are you suggesting then that if fireworks were set off at regular intervals either yesterday or in future games it raises no cause for concern?

If Carlsberg made days! Only spoiled for me by a two hour delay on the M5 getting back to the south west. Watching it back, the shots of the Rovers fans looking so glum and bewildered made it even better. Given that Muric used his chest to stop their only shot on or off target we could have played with an armless goalkeeper and they would not have scored. How can they possibly be third?

No.
So, you are not concerned about fireworks landing on the pitch during a game, no matter how many or how frequently. Even if one landed next to where you are seated? Fair enough but a curious reply.

I’m not sure fatalities is the only criteria for danger.
Let me get this clear are you saying that because the firework was set off from outside the ground into a stadium of 20,000 people there was no danger ? Or is it that there was less danger.
Inside the ground and outside the ground could only be a few feet.
Whereabouts inside the ground does this become ‘entirely different” ?

It makes better watching when you know some of the dejected Rovers fans that Sky showed. It then makes it feel even sweeter when they are still ignoring your messages gloating

How many thousands attended the official bonfire and fireworks display just over a week ago?
Were they not at equal risk of fireworks falling from the sky?
,(I speak as someone who actually does not generally approve of fireworks etc, but I don't really see the difference,)

There was no sign of the enhanced searching of supporters that the club had confirmed would be in place
There were massive queues to get to the 4 searching points for the CF Stand. Every person was patted down and Father Jack's dad even had to leave his flask of tea and his grandson's bottle of fruit shoot outside behind some bins for retrieval after game. Another friend had an imitation horse's head confiscated as being "likely to cause a breach of the peace"!

And the fireworks were definitely not needed or safe. What if it had exploded on or close to Muric's head for instance. Hope they found the person(s) who did it.

Agree with CT about Cullen. He seemed to play further forward with Jack Cork the most defensive of our MFs. It worked.

It's not really that "curious".
My point is that a few fireworks to celebrate an amazing derby win is nothing outrageous and nothing the press should be bleating about with their agenda to paint Burnley as some kind of backward, violent northern farwaway place. I was particularly irked that Sky very deliberately chose to use a single camera angle to show the incident - the single camera angle that made it look as if they had been thrown from the Bob Lord Stand (of all the humbug sucking stands in the country).
No, it simply does not represent a serious danger to player welfare or safety. The real danger in playing football was demonstrated when Gallagher had to go off injured. Fireworks on general sale simply are not big enough to cause any damage in the 1,000,000-1 chance that they plop on your head.
Regarding your implication that I am not concerned about fireworks
no matter how many or how frequently you've gone immediately back into "so what you're saying is..." territory. Once again, no. No. I haven't said that at all.
I do not play on the pitch. I sit in the stand. Throwing fireworks into a stand would be an entirely different thing as anybody sensible would know. There would be a risk of burns from the firework, but only to the people directly in contact with it as it exploded. Fireworks explode in the air and the mass of the falling object is designed to be small enough that there is little or no risk to anybody from falling debris.
Even so, the biggest danger to the crowd would be down to panic and people charging around.
Would I be happy to have fireworks overhead as I played football? Honestly, you could blacken the sky with fireworks above a pitch i was playing football on and the only thing I'd be concerned about would be the loud bangs, which I'm not very keen on.
As a one-off incident to celebrate a wonderful win against our beloved neighbours, the fireworks were a complete non-incident. It is not at all similar to setting off flares inside a stand and unless fireworks that are available on general public sale (from a registered seller, acting within the law) simply are not dangerous unless they are deliberately aimed at people which was clearly not the case yesterday.

Nope. Just wouldn't happen.
They'd have to
aim the firework at Muric's head for it to explode on or close to Muric's head.

To answer your questions:
1. No. I am not saying that.
2. You'll have to expand upon this for me to be able to answer.

As a season ticket holder I can’t get to games from Lincoln with no transport so all reports are important to me especially the ones which aren’t shown on TV

I could have sworn ST made a typo about Barnes' last championship goal being in 2014 against Wigan but as most of the time the man's correct
My reason for the post is "was Barnes out injured for a long spell in the 15-16 season?" I note he played only a few games-one start 7 subs and no cup appearances in 15-16 season

Great report to read, and you must have enjoyed writing it CT.
Despite our impressive start to the season a defeat yesterday would have meant we'd be heading into the break on the back of 2 straight losses against our closest rivals, however once we got in front that didn't look remotely likely.
The nark of any successful side is how they react to adversity, and that drubbing at BL was a serious test of the lad's character, no better way to respond than by sweeping your local rivals aside with ease.
Clean sheet was also welcome although TBF Rovers never really threatened to breach our defence.

Were Battered Rovers as bad as their fans are claiming or were we just so superior in every way ?
I thought it was pretty much the perfect performance by us which in a massive top of the table derby game is both impressive and rare. To restrict the opposition to just 1 shot over minutes is nearly impossible. To score 3 and create numerous other chances is top drawer
And that cross. Oh that cross. I will never forget
THAT CROSS

Finally able after 21 years of hurt to sit down and watch a rerun of the 5-0 drubbing. Positives for Rovers fans: they were nowhere near as bad defensively as that Burnley team and I’m not sure we have any players yet at the level that Dunn and Jansen were at. Despite being utterly outclassed however that aged group of thirty somethings did manage a bit more going forward than one shot.
Final note: both sets of home fans chanted”can we play you every week.” Plus ca change plus c’est la meme chose.
