Agree or Dont Agree...????

Just making a statement and wonder what other Claret supporters think ?, now correct me if i am wrong but we hosted the Euros about 18 months ago, and lost in the final,(thanks Gareth) but i believe that the Euros are to be held here again with a joint bid from other european countries, but i am not sure when?, yet after looking at a few things i see that the United States, Canada, and Mexico, are to joint host it (the world cup) in three and a half years time, the USA hosted it in 1994 when we failed to qualify,
So how come they get to host it again while we have been waiting since 1966, i was ten yrs old at the time, now i am 66 and still no sight of the World Cup coming home to the place that invented the sport for gods sake, is this FIFAs doing, the euros are fine but you dont get the likes of Brazil, Argentina, and the other sides from South America playing here, its just not the same, the stadiums are here, and the transport infrastucture is here, so how come we dont get it awarded to us, i might be dead by the time we get it and that would not be good for me, or is it a case of no brown envolopes being passed around Opinions please.

2026 usa/mexico/canada
2030 being touted as saudi and some others
2034 china?
2036 europe (probably germany they have only had twice)
And then we go round the world again, be lucky if we got it this century

Spot on Taffy, I wouldn't award it to GB even if there is a bribe.

We didn't host the last Euros, it was shared throughout Europe. Wembley held games in each round including the final.

There’s loads of countries that have never had it, and others who have that would do a better job.
Like others have said, there’s a host of reasons not to give it to England. It would be a disaster, as the Euro 2020 final showed.

If hooliganism is the problem why did we get both semi finals and the final in Euro 2020?
You’d have to be living under a rock for the last 30 years to not be aware of how World Cups are awarded.

I think football hooliganism (which is nebulous and overstated nowadays anyway - sure, it happens, but it's the rare exception rather than common place and I am not sure it's significantly worse here than the majority of countries?) pales into insignificance compared to what goes on in Saudi Arabia, where we will likely be playing the World Cup in 2030...

US has a joint bid, massive market, and part of sharing the WC around the world. Not many in South America can hold it, so realistically the US will have some involvement more often than other parts of the world.
Compare to Europe, where you have Spain/France/Germany/Italy/UK/ Russia (no more) all capable, then you see we're going to hold it less.
Imagine if we hold Euro '28 (announced in Sept '23) then we might put forward for WC 2038, and I'll be over 50

To be fair, it was in Leicester Square rather than outside the stadium. Could have just been a coincidence.

Australia might get to hold Eurovision (if they get Kylie Minogue to sing their entry next year)
Back to the OP we should (do what others do*) get together with Wales and Scotland and have a joint effort (we all qually automatically) and with a 48 team WC and the infrastructure (stadiums) already built and in place.
*USA, Canada and Mexico ... have it next time

there is zero chance with it being in the Arabian peninsula any time soon. Consider the criticism as well as the lack of practicalities with this current version.
What you have missed in Africa, and I wonder if a joint bid from Western Africa might do the trick in 2030

I don’t believe hooliganism has anything to do with it. 1st off the problem is now small compared to the past. Also other countries have the same problem (Russia got it and it’s endemic there). South America get it and they have football violence that’s off the scale. South Africa got it despite being one of the most dangerous places on earth for violence generally. Germany have had it twice since us and they have problems.
Whatever the problem is I don’t think it’s hooliganism. I don’t even believe FIFA think that way, they are not an organisation that always does the right thing. We don’t know the real reason but after this Qatar fiasco and the general lack of enthusiasm for a winter WC it’s not hard to conclude that it might indeed be a lot to do with ‘brown envelopes’. There were very few reason to give it Qatar and many reasons not to but they got it and the major nations could have stopped it but didn’t have the courage.
