I don't know what it is about this song but I just hate hearing it

Driving home for Christmas is in the top ten of Christmas songs ever...brilliant Christmas ditty up there with Fairytale of New York and Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody.

Zoe Testicle was playing effin xmas songs this morning when my alarm went off at 8.29 ...
But at least they played the "BEST EVER" Christmas Song of all time "Fairy tale of New York" by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl

Many of them remind me of boozy nights out running up to Christmas; parties, pub crawls, works do's, etc. Wandering around drunk with these songs on constantly. Hearing them now tends to make me shudder a bit.

FTONY is the greatest Christmas song ever by a country mile but my all time favourite is I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake....beautiful song is that.

I'm another that can't stand Fairytale. I think it's just the most overplayed of the Xmas songs. I agree with the above poster about Greg Lake. A poignant, sardonic, bitter sweet lament and a truly wonderful song.

Most of em tbh, but those produced by Phil Spector have a chance of being accepted.
As much as I’d like the pogues and Kirsty to be respected, they can’t because it’s just bloody awful. It’s trying too hard to be edgy or cool or raw or whatever…. It’s fuckin **** because of that.
Slade hit the button for me. Everything else is just trying too hard.

Christmas songs I don’t mind in isolation, its just that there’s only about 9 of them and they are on constant loop from November until mid January.
Everyone loves them. I don’t get it. How can you enjoy the same songs every day, every year for three months?

Fairytale of New York, Step Into Christmas and Driving Home for Christmas are all great.
My favourite is probably Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Power of Love.
There’s a lot of crap too - really don’t like McCartney’s or Stop the Cavalry which I appreciate is tantamount to sacrilege. The Elvis rip off one is dour too - Mud?

I was in Sainsbury's earlier today and they had Dean Martin, Perry Como and Frank Sinatra on repeat. Genuinely feel for the people who work there

The Fairytale Of New York is my favourite Xmas song of all time. Any such song with swearing in it sums up my feelings towards this tacky time of year. Roll on January. Bah fuckin humbug.

two little boys ,xmas number 1 in 1969 used to like it until all the problems re Rolf. now if I hear it think bad thoughts about what he really meant when he sung it
