O\T roadworks/ temporary traffic lights

If you’re anything like me then you’ll be becoming increasing annoyed/frustrated at the amount of roadworks there are at the moment and temporary lights popping up out of nowhere. I’ve never known so many. Does anyone know what is going on and why there are so many?
I thought it would be useful to post updates to this thread so that people can make alternative routes if necessary.
Roadworks on Burnley road in Padiham just outside the schools.
Roadworks on accy road just past the rose grove unity causing delays.
There were just setting up temporary lights further along heading towards Hapton just before Agra restaurant.

The ones at Padiham are a nightmare. It’s bad enough at school mother time, with all the SUVs and 4x4s as the mums drop off their little darling after driving from 2 streets away, but the addition of these lights make Padiham utterly impassable

I'm assuming some new law was issued that requires even the most minor of works to have temporary lights in place.
Whoever hires these things out must be coining it in.

There is/was a set at the junction of Gannow Lane/Sycamore Avenue, the 2 lights weren't more than 20yrds apart and could be “self managed” easily enough

What do you all suggest they do, ignore the gas, water and electricity supplies that need repairing or just not have lights and endanger the people working on these projects. Who would want to work on a road unprotected with a load of old giffers driving around in their Volvo's between moaning on a FOOTBALL FORUM.

It’s the amount of roadworks that is about. You seriously telling me that there is an issue with all these gas supplies at the same time?
And if you’d bothered to read the full post, aside from asking why there are so many it serves as information to people at where there all are, so people aren’t unexpectedly stuck/late for work.

Coming up to new council budgets, they have to spend it all before the new financial year. Hence the panic this time every year with stuff like this. Every street around us is having this exact issue at the moment, accidents waiting to happen.

Original post was over 2 months ago so they have been there at least that amount of time if not more. Are they laying 1 brick a day?

I'm not sure there has ever been a more Alan Partridge themed thread on this messageboard in its history.
It was always thus as we headed towards 31st March and Local Authorities had money to burn before their budgets were reset.

It’s been happening for at least 3/4 months.

I reckon it's a combination of using up the budget before year end
and starting the infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Either way, it's becoming a pain in the 'arris.

Temporary traffic lights can be frustrating. But just flip the argument. No temporary traffic lights means no road works. Imagine the thread on here. No repairs being done to the roads. What do I get for my road tax?
Just be patient and accept roads need repairs and other things need access under or at the side of the road. Why get hot under the collar over a 5 minute delay.

I understand this, but it’s the amount at the moment, that is causing frustration. On my way to work the other week I encountered 5 sets.

What frustrates me is people leaving games early just to get stuck in roadworks and miss stoppage times winners.

But 99%of the time they're not repairing the road (unless it's the motorway). It's the ubiquitous "utilities" who are digging everywhere and they then become the villains a second time when they fill in their holes and repair the surface extremely shoddily and it invariably becomes an area of weakness and falls apart within months. Most of the pot holes you see are where roads have previously been dug up for other purposes.

As I was driving down Todmorden Rd past Lyndhurst Rd, a road sign says the road will be closed for early a month. I can't say if it's just working hours, or completely shut.
This would badly affect anyone parking in the Fulledge area of the ground. There are still ongoing temporary traffic lights on Red Lees Rd, also slowing drivers journey time.

If coming over the tops from Tod. area there's yet another roadworks at Lower Red Lees (junction of Red Lees Road and Hillcrest Avenue) - pavement widening in the wake of the new housing scheme, "The Boxes"

Yes thats what I thought the post was about! Its the 2nd time in the last 6 months that these things popped here. PS what sort of Volvos are these old giffers driving, only young giffers driving Volvos these days.

I'm assuming Colne Road has some kind of works happening on it given the traffic was backed all up Church Street as far as the Kierby roundabout this morning before I nipped up School Lane.
Or is Colne Road just more busy as people avoid the Eastern Avenue route?

They seemed to have popped up left right and centre again.
Temp lights outside the Nissan garage on the way into town which will cause issues if they are still there saturday. Traffic was backed up right past the tim bobbin this morning and that’s before the schools go back next week.
Others of note - top of Manchester road summit
Liverpool road next to lowerhouse cricket club

There never seems any urgency in finishing a job.
Staff set up temporary lights.
Staff Dig hole.
Staff Disappear - probably down the hole or spend hours in cab on tea breaks.

The arteries into town are knackered at the moment. Offices chatter everything morning are the blasted temp lights, next week we add in the schools reopening
Coming from Padiham/Bobbin area into town is a right pain, obviously those in Pike Hill/Worsthorne have had to deal with Harry Potts Way/Culvert for ages too.
Anyone else think the left turn only from Omerod Road into Church street should be made permanent!?!
