Germany included but not West Germany yet Russia and USSR are separate. Seems a bit inconsistent.

tough one that. got 37. kept typing west germany and Holland but to no avail. ran out of time but wouldn't have got the ones I missed.

Happened in 1938 according to Wiki.

Tournament had no group stages then, started as a last 16 knockout. Cuba drew 3-3 with Romania and beat them 2-1 in a reply before losing 8-0 to Sweden in the Quarter Final.

23 for me much tougher than it appears at first glance, and the timer doesn't help either.

But there's a few I'd never have recalled on that list, mind you there's also a few I should have got but missed.

Apparently Germany isn't a new country, just a change of name. When West and East Germany merged, the country West Germany just expanded a bit and was still the same country. The country East Germany was no longer a country at all.

Interesting that England are third in the table with 9 quarter final appearances
