Think this was released to local press initially last week bait Westerlo into accepting the Foster deal. Seems to have worked.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:41 pmBURNLEY WANT £12M ANTOINE SEMENYO AS BRISTOL CITY BOSS MAKES BID CLAIM

Agreed. And if we think it's such a good idea why not get a few who have already retired to hang around the group... much cheaper.Stan Tastic wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:06 pmDzeko is almost 37 and Milner is 37. We've got a manager with plenty of PL experience if you think that really matters. I don't think paying a high wage on players way past their best is a good idea.

Probably a back up in the event Foster fell through.

Chelsea reportedly spending again after laready spending more £200 million. They have some really good accountants to avoid the FFP fate of QPR, Bkackburn etc.

As my grandfather often remarked: For a business to be successful it needs a really sharp Accountant, so it's worth waiting a few months for the right one to get out of Strangeways if needs be.

While this is not a rumour, I wonder if we’ve approached Bristol City with a Barnes plus cash transfer deal for Semenyo?.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
If Tella goes surely Twine would be the main beneficiary? I thought Obafemi would have been in competition with Jay and Barnes?
Tella may well be pricing himself out of a permanent move which makes it even more important for us to get minutes into the likes of Twine and Churlinov to see if they really can cut at this level and see how they fit into the team.

It was mentioned somewhere yesterday, about 10 pages ago, that one expected signing, stopped because the selling club upped the price at the last minute. This could well have been Swansea, if indeed it was true.MancunianClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:56 amShame as he seems a steal at £3M. Not much to lose at that price.

Surely if Saints were going to recall Tella they'd have done so by now?

Doubt they'll recall him now anyway with the siging of Orsic. The one big plus about our 4 loanees is that each one of them will want to sign for us on a permanent deal and be guaranteed game time in the Premier League. Something they might not get if they return to their old clubs.

as has been pointed out the thing that helps Chelsea the most is their ability to sell players for a profit - over 11% of transfer revenues in Premier League history have been accumulated by Chelsea - that is 30 years, 50 teams and they account for over a £1.1bn of it

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Probably best just to see what happens with Hadziahmetovic. There’s been so many conflicting stories from the Turkish press.
Even today they can’t make up their minds on whether he’s in Istanbul to talk to Galatasaray or not, with some reporting a deal is close and others denying Galatasaray are even interested.
For all of the recent reports of him wanting to stay in Turkey, there were reports only last week that he fancies a move abroad.

They got big money selling Diego Costa back to Atletico Madrid too.
They also sold Oscar to a Chinese club at the height of the Chinese football boom.

Maybe he is featuring on the next sky documentary about transfer deadlines. In the current documentary it follows 4 players and their transfer journeys over last summer.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 3:13 pmBurnley Target Amir Hadziahmetovic Meets Club Officials To Emphasis Exit Request

1 player was asked by his agent to meet with the club to express his desire to move to a club. This was after the club indicated to the agent they were open to offers. However, because of a 1st international call up, it changed the clubs thinking which led them to say that they would now be looking for bigger fee at the same time as the player had found a place they wanted to play. As a result the player was forced to say I want to leave and I want to go to this specific club to develop further. All the club were bothered about was increasing the price on him so he made it clear he wouldn't just go to the highest bidder where he wouldn't get the playing time potentially.
1 player told the club he wanted to leave without the knowledge of his agent. The player grew frustrated by the lack of progression and felt it was his club causing delays and barriers to his future.
1 player was told he could be sold but then wasn't because of other factors - mainly because of an injury to another player and it said he had hardly featured so far in the season. It didn't help because the buying clubs all wanted loans with an option.
1 player said to the club that he didn't want to renew his contract when it expired with 1 year left to run. It came across that the club had given the agent permission to see if they could get a fee, would that be considered rather than have him leave on a free.
Having done that and being told he could leave, it appeared that he was messed about by the club - even got to the point where the Manager stoked it up by making some dig at the player no longer wanting to play for the club or shirt. When he would have seen his contract out by the sounds of it. He did eventually move but the club dragged it out.
What was a common theme about the transfers was all the data being used by clubs and agents to find the right fit both from doing a job needed at the club and providing the right next step to that player. The process for the player, agent and club to engineer the pieces of the jigsaw to get it to work was something that wasn't easy or straight forward. They would say one thing, do another etc.
