Yes, she'll be best known for HI-de-HI although she did appear in a number of other stage and screen roles plus a handful of movies including Fiddler on the Roof early in her career.

Hi-di-hi was unbelievably successful, and RM was a major part of that success. She later played mother to Little Britain’s ‘only gay in the village,’ but a generation cannot hear the name without thinking “Hello Campers…”

Excellent in her best-known role. Always enjoyed the programme. There's a Welsh woman works in a bar in Lagos reminds me of her. At least the voice.

Very sad news. I met her and her Mum when they came for a holiday to Perth Australia. I was working in a bar and she came up to the counter to order. As soon as she spoke I said are you the girl from the Holiday Camp TV show?
We had a great chat as I had previously worked a couple of seasons at Ladbrooks Perran Sands Holiday camp in Newquay, so we had a bit in common.
RIP.

Sad to hear of her passing.

Hi-di-hi was bloody awful though... It was my cue to go for a bath when it came on!

Once had the pleasure of Ruth’s company in a bar in Ashton, Greater Manchester. Better still she paid for the drinks.
