Hello been a reader of this message board for years but never logged in, same with Clarets Mad, I think it's one of the better fans forums. Started watching Clarets about 1956 or 7, would be about 8 years old. Obviously I worshipped Jimmy McIlroy, Colin Mcdonald, Ray Pointer, John Connelly etc, I stood on the longside with my dad and his Polish mates, miners, weavers etc all ex combatants from WW2. I could go on but that's enough,oh I do like a bit of Northern Soul.

Welcome Lubanski, my 1st match was 1959 and unsurprisingly us old gimmers are getting fewer on this board.

Welcome Lubanski, hope you now feel able to contribute your feelings/opinions to add to a few threads, always good for us to get new perspective.
I'm always amazed, though, that people can read these threads for years and refrain from having their fourpenn'orth on some of the topics.

Welcome from another (as CleggHall puts it ) "old gimmer" although you appear to be even older than me.
My first time at Turf Moor was in 1962, aged ten.

Hello Lubanski,
I remember that great striker who played for Gornik Zabrze against Manchester City in the 1970 CWC Final. The first Polish player I'd heard of.
My Dad, Uncle and Step-Mother are all buried in Barrowford Cemetry and there are many Polish names on the tombstones.
Let us not forget the Polish pilots who joined the RAF and helped win the Battle of Britain.

I don't have Harry and Megan in my black and white tv as for Brexit, it's happened I'd love it to be a success but things are going to be difficult and very unpredictable for all our futures.

Welcome Lubanski,
Look forward to your continued contributions…start with ‘guess the gate’ + the ‘food count’
McDonald excelled for both Burnley and England (particularly nil-all draw with Brazil)
Ray Pointer is my favourite…and always will be!

It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, brilliant debates many lead up a blind alley but entertaining, today my granddaughter called, there was the opportunity, how do I register etc ,all done now and just need to keep at it, it's all on my cheap Tesco Motorola phone.

Not sure if using Harry and Meghan in the same sentence as Black and White TV is very PC Lubanski

Yes I picked that name truly a wonderful striker.l could have gone for Raymond Kopa who played for Rheims, he had a prolific partnership with Fontaine, we met them in Europe, I couldnt go sadly.

Yes I actually went to Maine Rd to watch Deyna, it was the era of the City kids who played like headless chickens I though, Deyna was like a ghost finding space, no one ever passed to him.

Yes it's my go to for daily info, Chester Perry unsettles me sometimes but he's clued up and it's good to be aware of the financial side, I do read fbook but it's nowhere near as informative as this site.

You may well be right Andy, perhaps weve met in the soul scene. Rose Room, Locarno, Imp, I remember Otis Redding,Sam n Dave, Booker T and the Mgs, Steve Cropper and Mar Keys, Eddie Floyd, staffer Al Bell all rocking up to Nelson and having a walk round town. Damn sharp dressers, nearly as cool as me I'm my hand stitched bottle green mo hair suit lol

Yes but she's gracious enough to say " I guess your generation wasn't brought up with these things" I got flummoxed when I wa asked for a password, i though hell I don't have one. Strange because although I was a letterpress printer in the 6ts in my later years at work I ran a Lithographic 4 colour press with computer settings all good with skills I'd picked up from craftsmen during my life, the last two years I was on a digital printer, ptg any thing from business cards to brochures and found it harder because those skills were no longer useful. Happy Christmas to you 1882
