Seems irrelevant now England are out but personally I fancy Argentina for the sole reason that I cant stand the French! Mbappe laughing and taunting after Kanes miss was so disrespectful.

Argentina for me… would be great to see the GOAT lift the trophy and follow in the previous all time greats footsteps.

Plus France have been quite boring to watch this tournament, a rather lucky side.

It's a pity they both can't lose. I'll settle for a 0-0 draw, two red cards apiece, (Both Messy and Mbappppppppe sent off), ten yellow cards and a riot in the stadium with tear gas and live rounds used by the authorities to quell the violence that results in the head of FIFA being injured. That should make for good viewing and be a fitting end to this event

Another who would like both to lose, as they can't I will go for France to win on penalties with Messi missing the deciding penalty, I would even switch over and enjoy listening to Lineker was this to happen.

Also if France do win on penalties I hope they have the decency to charge across the line of Argentina players and laugh at them following their conduct against the Dutch when winning the shoot out

Don't care and won't be watching. Don't particularly like either team and I know it might sound like sour grapes but the officials performances in the England France game has just soured it for me. I was far more interested in watching the QPR Burnley match last week.

Messi. He's the best ever regardless but seeing him winning the World Cup would be brilliant. The documentary about him on iPlayer is very good. Argentinian fans have been immense too.

I'd like the French to win it because they are European, our neighbours and they didn't invade the Falkland Islands. Plus they have the best national anthem and the only one to be used in a Beatles song.

Albeit, I have some suspicion they have their beady Gallic eyes on the Isle of White. Frankly, if they did invade the Isle of White I'm far to old to go to war but I'd be more than happy to volunteer one or two of the keyboard warriors from this site to go off and do battle with the Foreign legion etc.

The surrender monkeys on the other hand… very short memories. They have been our natural enemies for millennia, but when they really needed us, we turned up. Since then, they’ve just been gits.

I want Argentina to win it, Messi's last game at a World Cup so would be a fitting end for him, plus France have won enough in my lifetime

Instead of moaning on about the Falklands, Argentina would do well to remember that from 1976-1983 ( including the 1978 WC ), they were ruled by a Military dictatorship. In that time, over 12,000 political opponents went missing, they are known now as the " disappeared ". Many were drugged or killed, and alive or not, bodies were dropped 150 miles offshore in the South Atlantic. Pregnant females were allowed to live until giving birth, after which they were murdered and the babies given to favoured childless couples. The national humiliation of the Falklands defeat was a major factor in their removal the following year, when fresh democratic elections were held in December 1983. A thank you would be nice ....

As for the French, a senior British diplomat summed it up well, " You've got to hand it to the French, they're always there when they need you ! "

Sort of with you there, I edge towards Argentina purely for Messi

I’d much rather neither were in the final but if I had to pick, setting aside views of either country, I have to plump for Argentina.

I’d love to see Messi finish off his career with a World Cup winners medal. My foot is firmly in Messi’s corner when it comes to the Messi v Ronaldo debate and although even harder to judge fairly, I have him down as the best player to play the game.

A ridiculously, naturally gifted player, the likes of we won’t see again for perhaps a generation or more.

I’m a huge Robbie fan - my favourite Burnley player by some distance.
