Snow tomorrow?

Not trusting the weather forecast after what happened last season at home to Spurs, I’m hoping the snowfall tomorrow is not significant. I don’t want another wasted journey of 110 miles ( and I know others live far further away than me)

If it does fall victim to the weather tomorrow, I wonder if anyone who wasn't going anyway will tell us as all what an absolute disgrace of a decision it was?

The Met Office suggest likely precipitation in the morning, with strong winds and temperatures around freezing point. Likely sleet, but it looks likely that it will dry up later in the day.
Last Saturday, we experienced almost non-stop snow, despite no forecast of precipitation through the day.
99% of the time, the weather forecast is spot on (often to the hour, a week out.) But the complexity of predicting how these systems behave is crazy.
My money is on a sleety/slushy morning (likely melting much of the existing ice that still covers most of the town) turning into a damp and relatively mild afternoon. I can't imagine snow affecting the match at all.

I believe there is now some data which shows that countries that did not postpone football due to snow faired much better than countries that did postpone football due to Snow. When he' finished with his Covid conspiracy stuff Im sure he'll be on here to put you straight

The concern always appears to be about the state of the roads around the stadium nowadays. If there is precipitation and it freezes on already icy stretches then I would imagine that a problem regarding the fixture would prevail. Black ice on roads/ paths is extremely dangerous.

Instead of spending £60 odd driving up I shall pay my £10 to watch it on Clarets+. Still paying my season ticket but I have been to way more away games this season than home matches

If they call it off, please could they attempt to do so before 9ish, as that’s probably a good cut off for the away fans to turn back and just not leave. I normally leave at about 8ish to get up

There's been no mention of the undersoil heating and how long it's been on.
Temperatures have been dropping to minus 15 at nights.
It will be a test.

Was the same last weekend wasn’t it?
Rovers pitch was absolutely fine, even despite the snowy morning. No issue in our game at QPR either.

The undersoil heating has now been on for two weeks solid in preparation of this weather. They’ve also had the heat lamps on it too for the same reason.

Far colder this week.
The heat lamps should help, just surprised of no mention.

There is absolutely no excuse for not dealing with ice anyway near the ground. Obviously anything new tomorrow may be an issue. Massive game, top of the league, hospitality etc are all reasons for the Club to do everything it can to get the game on. There should be no ice on BFC property atm. Is there?

Wonder how much that costs. Would be a great gesture if Burnley FC didnt use their undersoil heating and donated the savings to some local warm banks and if it gets postponed then we just reschedule it for the warmer months

Think they're talking about the roads and paths leading to the stadium, which belong to the council, not BFC.

I understand that, but it's in the Club's interest to make sure its sorted somehow, in conjunction with the authorities.

The good news is I've got me thermals ready....! They are a bit tight on the crotch but warming on the derriere.
I've written to the club to say that there is no need to postpone on my behalf. I'm good to go...

The pavements are full of black ice. Hope they grit all around the Turf , be gutted if the pitch is perfect and health and safety step in and postpone.

Usual alarmist crap on this thread.
BBC forecast suggests temps above freezing, sun, very light breeze and any showers light rain or sleet.
But let's do what we can to put folk off coming eh?.

You really trust the forecast? You’ve only to cast your mind back to last season to know that’s a fallacy! I had no intention of putting people off coming when I posted but I do think those travelling would appreciate not having it called off 45 minutes before kickoff as happened with the Spurs game. From time to time I guess that will be unavoidable. All I’m saying is if a packet of snow falls contrary to the forecast if possible we’d appreciate being told as soon as if it’s postponed. I know I’m stating the bleeding….

All unexpected issues regarding the ground and pitch have now been resolved, there has been a couple of panics in the last day or so.
So barring another uncontrollable disaster it should all go ahead fine.

In sunny (today) southern (compared to Lancs) Bedfordshire it was -9 last night, and as low as -11 a couple of nights ago. I’d actually go as far to say the snow/ice on the ground is safer at lower temperatures as it’s not “wet” and sloppy.
Cold and dry ice is better than warming wet ice

Just going off social media pictures of people in their cars. If car thermometers are to be trusted?
After both kitchen taps were frozen yesterday, I left both with a tiny dripping last night.
Both taps were frozen again and a whisky glass that was in the sink had a full block of ice in.
It's been as cold as I can remember.

Having to drive there and back over 500m up I’ll be looking closely at the forecast but not till the morning. Be a bit of a sod to battle the thick flakes up there only to have it called off due to ice around the Turf. It won’t be off for snow though.
