Crazy how mentality can shift from PL snobbery but I never thought I’d see us go to Old Trafford and take the game to them like that as a 2nd tier club. Sterling effort undone by two world class moments and we had plenty of chances too.

UTC back to business winning the Championship and a good FA Cup run.

Merry Christmas one and all.

Echo that. Very pleased with that performance. Great to see us not afraid of playing our own game at Old Trafford. Had enough chances to score at least 1. Well done lads.

We never had a chance of winning that..not a sniff

Might have only been 2-0 but we weren't within a million miles of making it anything other than 3-0

A real chance to put some real meaning to out campaign but completely outbossed and outgunned.

I certainly hope the man utd fans appreciate that from Ten Haag cos they ain't gonna see many more performances of that kind of domination

We showed enough tonight to suggest we can compete in the PL if promoted, yes naturally we'll have to strengthen, but we won't be playing a team of Utd's quality every week, and we did create plenty of chances, just a pity we couldn't finish any of them.

Equally as proud of that effort, well done to all concerned. A long time since we made
that shower work as hard for a result. Had we taken our chances we could well be watching
penalties now.

Mistakes against players of this quality are normally punished, whereas in the Championship you might get away with such mistakes.

Some absurd comments over on the other thread. Of course we had less of the ball and lost more fifty fifties than we do in our league games. You didn't need to watch the ninety minutes to know that'd be the case. The performance and the result has little relevance to this season or next season. But for whatever it's worth, we kept the ball well for some really significant periods of the game and in doing so carved out three or four clear chances.

We did ok, more than ok.

Not so far off the races at the halfway point of the season. Reckon this team could survive in the Premier League next year with just a few changes.

Nothing wrong with our possession based play that an £80m striker won't fix 🙂

yeah god forbird our team or newbies got beat away at Old Trafford to a bunch of full international players half of whom had just played in the World Cup. Your expectancy levels are out of kilter if if you expected anything else

United a bit too good for us to be honest

But we certainly gave it a go, but the 1st goal is just too good and the 2nd is a great run and finish (but poor from us)

Barnes and Churlinov have to score those if we are going to get a result

Great experience, and its telling that our premier league players looked our best

Onwards and upwards though!

I think it was an enjoyable outing for a championship team. Some real positives to build on going into the summer. A few top players in key positions and this is an exciting young team going into the prem.

Man United we’re very comfortable throughout the game though. They strolled through the second half.

First paragraph completely agree. Very exciting.

Not sure United were very comfortable though, we had 3/4 golden chances, better chances than we created against Boro on Saturday!

Very proud of a very impressive performance. Think Gary Neville has been talking a lot of bollo..cks in praising Man Utsd. We stood toe to toe with them and could have beaten them . I thought Peacock Farrell was outstanding and this will give him huge confidence. I hope VK now considers him a serious option. The back four were excellent and Maatsen is now becoming a better defender and very polished. Cullen showed his qualities and JBG had another good game with a sensational cross to Churlinov. Benson showed his moments and he looked like he was vomitting as he came off. THe only disappointment tonight were Barnes's two misses and Josh looked very tired and at fault for Rashford's goal

Thought the rest did more than okay but it was a crucial error from Brownhill and he's got to bust a gut to get back for the 2nd

But pretty pleased with the rest as well

Certainly would have been interesting if we'd pulled one back

We gave them more of a game than several premier league clubs have so far this season. We missed a cutting edge up front but created several really good chances.

If we get promoted and if we bring in a bit more quality up front, then I'm not concerned about us competing at a higher level.

True but we aren't alone in that, and this is why proven strikers cost a bundle especially at PL level.

I don’t know a lot of that half they were strolling around like it was a friendly. We turned it on for 5 min spells but they were comfortable.

I think we have to take the positives from it

We were always gonna need Tella and Zaroury to have a sniff here . While we certainly kept them busy let’s not forget they cruised much of the game . We put up a decent positive show against 100’s of millions of talent .

If Christiansen had made the cross JBG did for Churlinov. Neville would still be talking about it. Neither him or SD even mentioned it and it was shown twice. Good to hear VK put a more representative appraisal of our performance

We were more than close to a couple of goals tonite…. Churlinov should have at least have bust the net to make it 2-1… but if you’d been you’d know that.

Its a young team we have and they are still learning and this will be a good experience for them. When we won
2-0 at OT not long ago.Sean Dyches team that night was experienced and tough. This young exciting team will have to develop some of that.

I love Dyche but he came across a little bitter tonight.
Take it you haven’t listened to him on any podcasts of late. There was one in particular a month or so back when he was in the running for the rangers job where he was pretending to be pretty nonplussed about us, but there was more than a hint of bitterness there.

As iv already said previously we have seen peak Dyche her. He was with us in the PL. he won’t achieve get any better than that in his career. Already he seems to be a forgotten man one wants him at any decent level. He could maybe join Owen Coyle in the Scottish championship in a few years

I noticed that too, particularly at half time. Got slightly better after the game, but I sense our performance this season is hurting him somewhat
What did he say? Or not say?

No matter what he says will be a legend but thought he would have spoke more fondly
