There always seems to be an under current of muppets at away games, especially the local games. The language is shocking and no consideration for people with children near by. Having said that, I’ve seen some parents with their children giving it Mexico and their children copying. I thought the guy behind me tonight had Tourette’s! Pond life.

I never heard that once, you must have been near the schoolboys. Our support was good.

The problem with seats ...you cannot move if you get sat next to / close to a foul mouthed / badly behaved individual.. stopped me going several years ago..

But aside that few to me we are the best fans bar none ...I am so proud to support Burnley...apart from my wife and daughter and being from Gods country Yorkshire...I love them more than anything...

All the fans I met last night were great. Fella next to us with his little lad, the couple in front of us with Santa hats and even the young man who said "after you, sir" when I was waiting to get down the steps!

I do have Tourette’s so I apologise in advance if you ever sit near me

Nah mate I wasn't completely miserable... I did have to laugh when one of them was trying to suggest Sancho let his country down, only for his mate to correct him and say he wasn't even in the squad. He must have been the brains of the group.

Just for the record I thought our support was good last night, as I've already said in the OP and despite the result it was a great day out.

Games like last night don't tend to have a great atmosphere. Too many day trippers, people taking the kids etc. Not a moan, just an observation.

I thought we were excellent in the main. There isn't a novelty factor about going to Old Trafford and the likes after our years in the Premier league so perhaps that influenced some.

Remember VK saying we need the fans behind us when we lose , think he got what he wanted at the end of the game .

Well done to all those who were there .

I enjoyed last night I thought generally the fans were quite good last night until we went 2 nil down after that it got a bit vile around us making plane impressions, chanting about Mason Greenwood or chanting Long live the Glazers/ USA is not my idea of supporting Burnley but hey what ever floats your boat.

Having said all that there was a guy next to my son who kept saying the vilest of things then apologising to my son and me and then doing it all again made me laugh. He also said to my son “be proud of supporting your local team” my sons response “but I’m from Newcastle” he said good for you son and never spoke to my son again made me

It’s embarrassing for the rest of the fan base. If you ever watch us on the Skysports red button, the. You’ll hear the absolute shambles some fans waffle. It’s abusive, without substance or need.

Throwing vapes at opposing fans, being racist to security staff, abusing each other for sitting/standing, and just the same old boring chants. It’s not a fun experience for those visiting Turf Moor as a casual fan or as a first time fan.

You’re going beyond what my post meant. Obviously abusive and racist chants/remarks or chucking things isn’t acceptable in any environment.

The OP referred to a chant that wasn’t abusive (or funny for that matter) but I don’t get why it warrants a thread criticising a small section of fans for a nothing chant.

I had an absolute weapon stood next to me, he spent the whole game shouting at the home fans and was thicker than a whale omelette.

Problem is with these people is they don't realise how thick they sound, ******* brain donors.

I reckon people who expect to follow a northern working class football team to away games with a good few thousand others, who expect somehow, to be surrounded only by paragons of genteel virtue and sensitivity really do need to undergo a bit of expectation management.
It's an earthy game... Its historically been for working men to let off a bit of steam. If its sanitised any more it'll be like watching a carpet bowls match or playing hunt-the-slipper on the social workers picnic.

90 minutes of someone so close that I can feel their breath on my face as they continually shout insults like:-

In front of me was a young girl of about nine or ten and the same a row in front of her. I'm no prude but this was way over the top.

I could go on but I'm sure everyone on here has been near somebody like this at a game, the problem is unfortunately you have no choice over which species you are likely to be sharing a group of seats with at football.

Singing songs about an accused attempted rapist was pretty low, yet not unexpected.

Both my boys don’t want to go to Turf Moor because of the idiots that are there. They’ve both become hybrid Burnley-United fans. Yes, I get that most clubs have idiots, but we seem to have more than most.

They both prefer going to watch Morecambe.

We have to look at securing the next generation of fans, and currently BFC and the match day experience is a tough sell.

The crowds are the highest they have been for donkeys years at the highest prices.

Almost every match on when shown TV (especially cup games etc on BBC/ITV) regardless of the teams playing issue apologies during the game for any offensive language heard ... so every club has fans who swear and shout obscenities ...

Do you mean that it's a tough sell for yourself and your boys or a tough sell for Burnley FC?

How old are your boys? Do you sit in the Jimmy Mac Family Stand? We have sat in there many years, since the stand opened in fact, and never seen any kind of problems in there.

My mate's grandchildren absolutely love it in that stand, they are aged 7, 8 and 10.
My grandchildren sat in there with me from being around 5 years old and are now late teens/early 20's but still sit in there with me.

I can understand having problems, especially if you have kids, at away games because we have many young lads who travel away and either get silly in the concourse usually throwing beer over other people, or looking to confront the other teams fans after the game.

I have never found it a 'tough sell' for the matchday experience at Turf Moor in all the years of taking my young family members. However as I mentioned, I've always been in the Family Stand, so I can't really comment on what it's like in other stands for kids.

Times certainly have changed....I remember as a little kid sitting in the Cricket Field Stand with my Dad and best mate and my mate's Dad - and we couldn't wait to be old enough to go on the Longside where all the bad language and bad behaviour was.

My kids loved it, and still present themselves at the turnstiles at every given opportunity.

As a parent I used the antics of some of our, shall we say, "rather uncouth" supporters as something to be amused by...and educated about..seeing the many and varied strands of society. From the GP's kids in the Ribble Valley, to the disenfranchised underclasses
of Bacup and Duke Bar. It was a melting pot, and so much the better for it.

For some though, this is something to shield and protect their cherished ones from...understandable in this world of bogey men I suppose. But to me, having worked my time in Drumchapel, Easterhouse and Springburn, its as scary as tackling a swarm of angry butterflies.

I sit in the JMU and there are three or four lads ages about 12 sat on the row behind without parents. All of the first half they were talking, not shouting, but it was f’in this f’in that, it was doing my head in tbh. Just before halftime one of them said “Korean c*nt”. Not sure what he was on about but I turned round and quietly said “enough, yeah?” The rest of the game they were as good as gold. Obviously decent kids, just seeing what they could get away with

Has all this foul language come about because people aren't allowed to stick things in their mouth anymore at matches - fags or pipes with old socks in them?

Foul language is fine from grown ups at football. Disgusting sentiments, bullying and cocaine abuse less welcome.

Society is becoming far too sanitised for my liking also, of course there's a limit on what behaviour is acceptable, and clearly racist language and throwing objects falls into that category, but if folks expect to go to a footy game and not hear the odd expletive they are living in cloud cuckoo land, even the players swear at times it's an emotional game played with passion.

I can confer those 3 areas are very much still traditional working man's territory, and certainly not places I'd be wondering around alone at night.
