I was the same. Thought it looked interesting but the first episode I thought meh. I started watching the second and got hooked. The round table did it I think. Real head games going on and some great twists added by the producers. I'm hoping Wilf hangs on too but have a feeling Kieran might betray him.

I got watching the first episode by accident, and I never watch that sort of thing. I’ve been hooked, but haven’t watched this week yet. I’ll not read the comments.

This may be hyperbole….but….genuinely one of the greatest TV shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching. I am sure it will be on every year now due to word of mouth, but I doubt it’ll ever be as good again as it was in this first series. Absolutely incredible entertainment.

A fantastic ending..and not what i expected. Been gripping viewing. I like the idea of a second series but not sure they could replicate the twists and turns again.

Great series. Wilf played a good game but he was far too hyper early on and then got away with that and played well until he properly overplayed his denials in the last episode. You are never sure how much they edit the scenes that said.
Interesting that a couple of the final 3 seemed quite limited and as such managed to get through with nobody seeing them as a threat. That’s probably the key to the game as a faithful but you need to be less excitable and cleverer than Wilf if you are to win as a traitor. He did get close though.

He betrayed one too many when he betrayed Kieran and Kieran alerted the rest with his parting message. So close to getting away with it as well.

Was brilliant - being on the beeb meaning no adverts, no mindless ‘celebs’ that have been on 100s of other shows, no boring/predictable public vote and the panto villain sort of sideshow that goes with it.
Having a proper varied cast from all walks of life also added to the entertainment.
Think Wilf was brilliant but should have been neutral in the final episode instead of trying to get Kieran out by influencing the others - he massively overplayed his hand.
Thought Kieran really crumbled with the pressure of being a traitor big time - his whole persona massively shifted and he was sticking out like a sore thumb in the final two episodes.
Curious to other posters’ thoughts on if they’d want to be a traitor or faithful, and how you’d play it?
I think people with a character like Meryls - kind of clueless but nice and happy are great to be a faithful, never in risk of being murdered or voted out.
Feel like I’d prefer to be a traitor, if I was a faithful I’d get murdered within a few episodes!

A game of everything that's wrong with Today's society greed lies and deception Kieran brilliantly outed the Peter Sutcliffe lookalike Wilf at the end,and that was the best piece of game play in the whole series well done Kieran,Wilf was a nasty piece of work.

I really don't think he is. He was there to play a game and almost won.
He seemed incredibly sincere with what he said at the end, far from a "nasty piece of work".

Enjoyed it more as the series went on. The climax was pretty gripping and I though Wilfred had it in the bag until the very end. It would have been interesting to watch if the audience didn't know which contestants were faithfuls or traitors.

Struck when there was a chink in the armour with Alyssa & Amanda - they were their own downfall… it is a game after all!

At the start of the final episode I couldn't see a scenario where Wilf lost...and then he got too greedy. Kieran needed to go and would have done without any involvement from Wilf. All Wilf needed to do was keep Kieran's blood off his hands and agree an exit strategy with him. For example, if either one goes they vote for a pre-determined contestant (probably Aaron).
Wilf played the role really well until the endgame. I'm with Jambo in terms of his positive assessment of Wilf. He played to win but lost with good grace. His parting speech repaired any potential damage to strained friendships.
I'm not sure how successful a second series would be but I'd definitely give it a whirl.

Did you actually think Wilf was being sincere with that departing speech?
You wouldn't last two minutes in that game.
It was a great programme but the final episode was ruined for me with all the childlike screaming on the boat
Wilf was and is a complete fake.

I think Wilf was a genuine bloke tbh. You are playing that game to win and most of us would go for the full win rather than a share. He very nearly made it.
Difficult to quite see how he could get it over the line tbh. Perhaps if he had managed to get Kieran potted in the episode straight after he became a traitor but it would have needed those shady discussions and to allow the actress through to the final (and he knew he had her vote). I doubt that would have worked.
The best option would have been to share with Kieran by not doing the alliances and perhaps getting Arun potted whilst not antagonising Kieran. Easier said than done given Kieran lost the plot straight away as a traitor either way. Some people are not cut out for being a traitor tbh.
Perhaps it is possible that he should have selected the actress as a traitor and then gone from there. For one she would have got off his case and likely been potted by the group anyway whilst not letting any of the others in to the secret which is ultimately why he lost. That parting shot from Kieran is why he lost.

It doesn't matter if I think he was being sincere - his fellow contestants seemingly showed no animosity towards him. I think I would be in long enough to take down your picture, if only because you'd get too emotionally involved.

The idea is to play a traitor which is fake. The fact that he was all jumpy at the start showed he was the opposite aligned to how he was at the end. You wouldn’t last two minutes without playing the game like that. It’s acting and the actress was one of the worst at the game ironically.

You probablty should check out Hannah's instagram as her and Wilf are big mates now. It was filmed last summer and it was a game after all. It wasn't expected to be the massive TV hit that it has been.

It was very good and a much better offering that "I'm a Celebrity". Great also not to have to line these so called celebrity pockets when genuine people have the chance to what by comparison is small money but what an impact 33k would do to those 3 families.

When you know how to enter let me know as I'd love to enter as well. Judging by the replies on here I'm not the only one who hates anything celebrity. Masterchef, bake off, sewing bee, a million and one quiz shows, even strictly now etc. All these shows are so much better with ordinary people who have normal teeth/top lip and don't act like prima donas with attitude and even bigger egos. In fact I wouldn't even know who most of the celebrities are these days.

The game was a combination of Big Brother (we’re all watching each other), The Weakest Link (banishments), I’m a celebrity/ crystal maze (the missions) and Golden Balls (split or steal). Was absolutely fabulous. I’d love a second series…30 contestants, four or five traitors, same venue, same host.

Nearly all shows which have a competitive theme lend themselves to a “Celebrity ” version, the TV companies just can’t help but to go down that route Masterchef, GBBO, The Weakest Link, The Chase etc etc. No surprise Matt Hancock quit politics when the TV celebrity path is so lucrative.

The banishments were more akin to Survivor (I read the UK version is coming back after around 20 years - loved that and can't understand why it never had a second series as it was superb). Crystal Maze? Not really. I'm a Celeb, yeah for sure - but I fast-forwarded through them as found them a bit dull.
There's a problem though. Like with Big Brother (series 1 more a trial to see how it went), season 2 will be 100% wannabes, fake people (not talking about the traitors), and overactive people (even more so than this series). It really wouldn't surprise me if Series 2 is very much 'meh'.

Said this to my wife earlier…feel that a celebrity version just wouldn’t work as well….real money for real people just plays out differently to those playing for good causes.

Using that argument there would be no Celebrity versions of any TV game shows which predominantly involve real people playing for real money. Shows such as The Chase and Tipping Point have both have Celebrity editions and neither show makes millionaires.

I can't think of any celebrity versions of any tv programmes worth watching anymore. And that includes Strictly and I'm a Celebrity. I appreciate that some of them are for charities but I still can't bring myself to watch them. Ditto with reality TV shows. Traitors was like a breath of fresh air.

I really liked it, though I think it would’ve been better without the stupid games. I wasn’t interested in how much money they were earning, the difference of them taking away £25k or £250k is pointless I think. Just have a set prize fund.
I’d prefer a big brother type of show where you have the contestants running the ‘castle’ - it’ll be interesting to see the dynamics of voting out the best chef or the person who cleans the most and with the worry that they are traitors.

Series 1 basically showed that to win the game you just need to be a bit thick/slow and not have a clue what's going on. None of the 3 winners seemed to be on the ball at any point and so were left alone as they didn't pose a threat.

They should just stop the show now. It had a successful first series, now just leave it. Celebrity versions of stuff are crap in general as well.
The Americans will do their own version with the stupid music, impact stings, digital zooms and a narration that tells you every that’s happened in the last 2 minutes. They’ll carry squeeze ever bit out it for at least 10 seasons anyway.

Firthy -
Victoria Coren-Mitchell is a comedian who never done the comedy circuit and has her jokes written for her. She is the wife of David Mitchell.
Kirsty Young - dunno
Adam Woodyatt - washed up soap star, played Ian Beale in EastEnders, probably still does
Alison Hammond - I think is a ‘Jack of all trades but master of none‘ when it’s comes to being on television, mainly daytime stuff… she laughs a lot.

VCM isn’t a comedian. She’s a journalist, professional poker player (a very successful one at that) and a TV presenter (notably the host of the best quiz show on TV - Only Connect). She’s also the daughter of the late Alan Coren.
Kirsty Young used to be the host of Desert Island Discs.

Kirsty Young was Channel 5’s flagship news reporter, if I recall correctly or their original news reporter/journalist. Pretty certain she ‘opened’ Channel 5.
Alison Hammond was a Big Brother contestant, maybe Big Brother 3, certainly an early one. Within 48 hours I was convinced she would win the series but she was voted out quite early, but someone else ‘in casting’ saw what I saw and she’s been a Good Morning Britain participant for a number of years. Gets a lot of different gigs and I’m sure she must have a newspaper or magazine column. She certainly gets to do a lot of celebrity interviews and went through a bogus ‘fake wedding’ with The Rock (I think).
All in all I think all 4 qualify as celebrities.
Depends on your criteria I suppose.
