Today's football

Mounting pressure on Rovers. Cardiff at home. Whilst I suspect they'll get back to winning ways the crowd will get impatient if they don't start well. Such is this season's Championship Rovers have lost more games (12) than 20th placed Cardiff (11).

Should win easily today.
I think today starts the run of playing 4 of the bottom 5 in their next 5 games.

So there's a good chance of them picking up a good few wins in the next month or so.

Hi MACCA,

Happy New Year!

Yes, on paper you'd think they should win it without too many problems. But it's a crazy division this time around plus third game in seven days.

Here's hoping.

I don't think they are good enough to expect to win any game.

Appreciate league position says otherwise.

I'll go Cardiff win.

Where is everyone? They should just sell the Darwen End to Aldi or something.

"Fair to say the early kick-off, the date and live TV coverage are leading to a less than lively atmosphere at Ewood Park so far."

Shame they can't drop out of the top 6 today.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Our pitch isn’t in a great state, but Ewood looks far worse.

Less than ideal for a side that likes to keep the ball.

Has JDT changed the way they play? Not trying to play out from the back. Lumping it forward at every opportunity.

Two really shocking teams here.

A game where quality football goes to die.

Tbf, trying to play out from the back clearly doesn't work for them at times and against us turned into a disaster.

The pitch is like a cabbage patch. Tinpot. That will only help them when we go to play them.

Very difficult to play football on this pitch to be fair. It’s heavy and bobbly.

Disagree with that, our pitch is in really good condition IMHO.

I get it - NYD early kick off, on TV, it’s cold - but the sheer lack of support for a team who are third in the league, very much punching above their weight, is something else. Can only imagine what it’d be like if they were in a relegation scrap.

No, it’s poor. It was awful vs Boro I thought.

I’m sure there have been reports that it needs relaying and that it’s overdue.

Considering the conditions against Boro and the volume of water it had absorbed it was in good condition. A bit slower that usual but understandable and years ago it would have been called off whereas these days it's no problem.

1-0 Rovers. Scabby goal.

Cardiff are poor tho. Very little quality. Rovers are in serious trouble if they don’t go on to win this.

Boro was fine, bit of surface water against Birmingham but again played fine. I’ve just watched the highlights to check. Not sure there is much wrong with the pitch, especially compared to Ewood..

Cardiff plummeting towards the drop zone, no wins in eight if this stays the same or worse. If the three sides below them all win then they are in it.

We play them last game of the season.

Not sure what expected goals has to do with anything, however accirding to sky stats Blackburn have scores 30 goals this season but their expected is only 20, presume the other 10 are the OG and massive deflections thst have gone in their favour

Yeah, Blackburn look to be in a false position, but I’ve been thinking that for months and they are still up there.
