This is a positive.

He is better than Cork and Cullen.

Remember those corners?

Nearly your time Ashley our old friend.

Sadly, I think we’ve seen Ash take his last corner for us.

No he’s not

And it’s nowhere near his time, which sounds like it’s up

Aside from that, quality post :D

I'd love to see him play again this season. He looked strong in a recent club video.

I‘m in no rush to see Ashley leave. I want to see how he can perform in VK’s team. Should he come back strong, his know how will be invaluable as the team finds it feet in the Premier League.

You better start up that MLS TV subscription if you wanna see those corners. Won’t see a Burnley shirt again.

Me either, I’d love him to stay and be around to cover any injuries. From his perspective though, maybe wants to prove to the world that he’s back from injury and performing well before he becomes a free agent in summer.

I'm not convinced that those corners would be as productive with our new squad.

At his peak with us he was brilliant. Just hope he is a success in his new MLS club, and that he has made a full recovery from an awful injury. Think its the right move for him. Good luck Ashley and thanks

If our midfield is going g to keep up the pace and strength, Ashley Westwood should be in the mix. He can replicate what Cork, Cullen and Brownhill can do. Why risk our season by turning away a player who can add to our strength?

Where's the MLS claim come from?
There's nothing on twitter.....
Or is it just one of those made up things by bored people?

I was told by somebody very reliable, along with the Lowton to Huddersfield - that seems to be coming out on twitter and assume Westwood will be just dependent on visa etc as he had a medical a couple of weeks ago

If he’s fit I personally don’t understand why we would let him go. We only really have Bastien as backup in that crucial area and Cork is getting on (not to mention will soon be suspended). Westwood will arguably be one of our highest earners though.

The only logical reason would be if we have someone coming in to the building in that area - and we were just linked with the Moroccan lad who’s a CM weren’t we? Interesting.

Brownhill too. He's played CM when either Cork or Cullen have been out this season. Twine could now come in for him. As you say, we might also have a younger target on a far lower wage in mind, who knows. Bastien hasn't even been able to make the bench in recent games anyway!

I'm aware you're not a fan of it, but stuff like this is usually leaked on there all the time for numerous players, hence why I had a look.

There are always people wanting to appear in the know on things on here.

That looks a strange one. I think Bournemouth are in real danger of going down so he could end up being back in the Championship. I'm not convinced there's anything in that other than Bournemouth having an interest in him.

I agree Tony. I think he'd be silly to leave now for a team that are by no means certain to be in the Premier League next season. The link seems to centre on him being a team mate with O'Neill at Bristol City and little else.........hopefully!

Would imagine that Bastien would be back up to them two now and also Brownhill could play deeper with Twine coming into his role. Big chunk off the wage bill I imagine if Westwood goes.

Because he might want to leave? Because he might not be as fit as he once was? Because we're top of the league with better players playing instead of him? You're talking like he's Bellingham or prime Xavi. How anyone can watch half a season of the sublime stuff we've been watching and think, "What we need is more Ashley Westwood" is beyond me. He's been good for us. But not for a while. And we're better now. Fantastic opportunity for him to play in MLS. Good luck to him.

It’s an interesting link for sure.

Your link was interesting - ran the junk bond desk at GS, got passed over for partner, left and became a self-made billionaire. Quite a story.

I like Westwood, been a good player for us and it's the decent thing to do to let him follow this opportunity instead of asking him to be a back up player we quite clearly don't need until the summer.

Hi CP,

Did you read some of the comments with the nbcsports link?

This is what one guy has said about the situation:

pantherfan1114 says:
December 2, 2022 at 10:19 pm
It’s easy to blame the rich guy based on a blog post but check the facts. Tepper entered into an agreement with York County/Rock Hill to partner in the practice field. It was a win/win for both. The reality is York County/Rock Hill never paid the money they agreed to pay for their part in the venture. Tepper gave them a year to pay the agreed upon money and they not only didn’t but they never issued the bonds to raise the mone y and said that “the political climate had changed”. They just refused to pay after he spent $170million and his “partner” bailed. If anyone blames Tepper for this mess you don’t know the facts. His blame is trusting the locals in SC
Anyone would walk away if their “partner” blatantly refused to uphold the contract. The Investigation is political.

I hope VK has someone else ready to come in. With Cork on 9 bookings and Cullen on 7, and the possibility either could get injured we need cover as Bastien hasn’t looked like it.
