Muric 6 not much to do
Roberts 6 couldn’t get get forward
THB 8 few loose passes in first half. Strong in the air today
Beyer 7 good pace
Maatsen 9 motm
Cork 6 tidy with the ball but was always behind
Cullen 5 just ok. Looked tired
Brownhill 7 ran his butt off
Tella 7 lightweight but always a threat
Jay 4 missed a pure sitter to kill the game. Few link up passes in the middle but looks slow and chases the game
Zaroury 4 poor

Benson 7 always a threat. Won some corners
JBG 6 strong defensively except for one lazy foot tackle

Muric 7 - may have parried the shot wider but good distribution again, 2nd half especially
Roberts 7 - really solid since the World Cup break
THB 8 - great to see his development
Beyer 9 - won everything aerially and several excellent tackles where he just stepped in
Maatsen 9* - 2 superb goals from our left back and defended well
Cork 7 - tired but did ok
Cullen 7 - same as above
Tella 6 - he does some things wonderfully then other things terribly, barely an in between
Brownhill 7 - pressing monster
Zaroury 4 - way off it, looked slow and scared of being touched, rest needed
Jay Rod 6 - missed a sitter which may have cost us on another day, pressed well but stuck on the periphery a bit

JBG 6 - did ok
Benson 6 - helped keep Manning back and see the game out

Tella & Zaroury should have worked it out after the first few times they went down and got nothing from the ref. They both put us in difficult positions after that.

TBF they all probably need a rest. I’d be tempted to play all the fringe players against Bournemouth

Slightly off the pace today against a decent Swansea side. I thought we played better in the 2nd half, Brownhill and Jay should've killed the game off.
Great to come out with 6 points after two tough away games in the last few days.

A leggy performance and not unexpected against another possession side. Given those circumstances, this really is another excellent win, where our game management was very good indeed.

Muric 6 Lee Grant-esque parry for their goal

Roberts 8 bang in form since his return from Qatar

Harwood-Bellis 7 solid

Bayer 8 solid +1 for having one of the most wayward shots of the season so far

Maatsen 9 two great strikes, although the second is pub-level stuff from their keeper. Not often your full back is on a first half hattrick.

Cork 8 clearly tired but he was essential to us seeing this game out

Cullen 8 same as Cork, his calm and tidy use of the ball late on took the sting out of things

Brownhill 7 has to finish his chance really, otherwise his pressing was excellent. +1 for not taking Maatsen's free kick.

Zaroury 4 not really in it and went to ground unnecessarily a few times

Tella 6 an in and out game, probably stayed wider than he'd like and had less chance to get in behind as a result.

Rodriguez 5 linked things well with little serrvice but he has to bury that header and end the game

Gudmundsson 6 we looked better when he game on

Benson 6 likewise

Swansea played well but it's another team at around their max level who we've beaten without being anywhere near ours.

A boom gnarly start to the year.

Muric 6 - parry the goal was a bad one, but his errors are getting less
Roberts 7 - solid in what I'm sure was a big game for him
Beyer 7 - consistent
THB 7 - consistent
Maatsen 9 - two great goals and thought he was excellent defensively
Cork 7 - probably tired but he will be on a 2 game suspension soon enough
Cullen 7 - important and clever player for us
Brownhill 6 - don't think he's been great for a while. Second half he improved but when he shoots it's a lottery - either top corner or row Z
Tella 6 - needs to be stronger at times, a couple of occasions I expected him to accelerate away and he didn't. Is he tired or not 100% fit?
Zaroury 5 - when he's quiet he is very quiet. Young lad though so will let him off
Rodriguez 6 - some nice touches but should bury his header. Been a while since his last goal but no pressure on the striker to score in this team

Benson 6 - would have liked to see him start with some of the breakaways we had first half
JBG 6 - did well but nearly cost us with some uncharacteristically timid defending on the touchline for their chance near the end

Muric 7. Deflected shot stop and questionable parry but again intrinsic in our game management in the last 20 mins
Roberts 7 . Steady didn’t really click with zaroury
THB 7 - Solid
Beyer 7 - solid even had a run and wild shot
Maatsen 8* MotM - Good game
Cullen 7 - quiet but did a lot of the carrying and breaking up
Cork 7 - Allen may have been older but showed class
Brownhill 7 - at least he’s stopped taking free kicks
Tella 6 - just off today
Jay 6 - missed a sitter
Zaroury 5 — poor today maybe World Cup , travel and emotion catching up

JBG 7. - good when he game on
Benson 7 - a threat and more balanced
Barnes - 5 not much impact but did the necesssary chasing

There's absolutely no doubt that analysed from a defensive point of view they were very "poor" goals to concede.
Muric would have got absolute pelters on here for that "wall" and especially the 2nd goal.

Muric 6 not a lot to do really and Swansea posed no aerial threat. I think he is growing in confidence (and I feel more confidence in him) but could have done better with the goal

Maatsen 9. MoM. Goals aside a very assured performance. Late in the game the Swansea subs posed more of a threat down his flank but he dealt with it well. Felt like he was playing with a bit of a passenger on the left until AZ was subbed

THB. 6. By his very high standards he seems to have been a little bit rough edged in the past couple of games. He looked a bit exposed in the second half of the first half as Swansea moved the ball around well

Beyer 7. Pretty sound. If I am being hyper critical, a couple of misplaced passes put us in trouble

Cullen 7. Got stuck in, effective as always

Cork. 7. What we have come to expect. Particularly strong in the second half as Swansea tired

Brownhill. 6. Ok but not quite at his best. Missed two very presentable chances

Tella. 6. Not his day. Very little came off. Seemed to struggle on the heavy pitch

Zaroury 5. Has been off it the past couple of games. Hope it is just temporary. Not helped but being absolutely clattered in the first half

Rodriguez 7. Would have been 8 but for the miss. A very clever performance.

Benson 7
JBG. 7

A strange game. We went 2-0 up without having done much and were quickly pegged back to 2-1. For the rest of the first half we were second best with Joe Allen running the show. Swansea’s midfield movement was excellent and they played through us at will. But for all that they hardly created a decent chance. I was worried at half time but I needn’t have been. As it transpired, Swansea had put so much in to the first half that they wilted in the second. They kept trying to build from the back but struggled to get to the halfway line such was the intensity of our pressing. We largely controlled the game and created three excellent chances. Special word for the fans in the last 15 minutes! The ref let so much go it was untrue Someone could have been seriously hurt

Surely a top class keeper needs to be taught to parry shots away from danger. He laid their goal on a plate by parrying straight back to one of theirs and did exactly the same in another effort that was thankfully cleared. Seems a basic skill but I'm sure other teams will have picked up on that perceived weakness of his.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I would have hoped that he would have tipped the initial shot out wide, but the deflection off Beyer only gave him a split second to adjust his hands.
Maybe he was a little unfortunate in that respect.

It looks to me from the Clarets+ replay that all three goals caused the goalkeepers difficulties and it may be harsh to criticise them.

Our first: we lined up a three man wall to obscure his view so he probably saw it late. On top of that you couldn't ask for a more accurate shot by Maatsen as it went in off the post.

Our second: it looked to me like Maatsen put a lot of spin on the shot. It wasn't clear but it seemed at least to be bending, perhaps wobbling. They must be difficult to judge.

Muric's: as mentioned it got a deflection which he couldn't react to quick enough.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I would have hoped that he would have tipped the initial shot out wide, but the deflection off Beyer only gave him a split second to adjust his hands.
Maybe he was a little unfortunate in that respect.
It looks to me first and foremost like a pretty poor bit of defending by Beyer. Whenever you waft out a leg like that, there's more chance of a deflection you can't control than a proper block - it was one of Dyche's pet hates. That deflection makes it very tough for Muric to readjust - perhaps some keepers might do better, but if they do they've done well and it doesn't make the fact Muric didn't an error.

Ball swerved a lot for the second Hipper I was behind the goal in the away end.
