Popular opinion on here seems to want Everton to go down but I wonder how many might change that view if a certain Sean Dyche becomes the Everton manager in the next week or so.
I think it would be a good short term fit to keep them up but I couldn't see Dyche lasting long at a club as big as Everton

The only thing that could save him, is if Everton can't afford his pay off.

Lampard can't survive that performance surely, however he alone isn't to blame for Everton's problems, which have been years in the making due to bad managerial appointments and terrible recruitment.

Dyche is type cast as a manager who plays route 1 football, and as Allardyce who was far more experienced proved at WBA that style of football doesn't keep you up.

You need to get the managers for your level and Everton fans have never got that and its pretty clear the board haven't either

Surely Dyche is already prepping his PowerPoint presentation - he is precisely the type that Everton need right now. Their defending is horrid, they need to build a base from the back and become solid. It’s surely going to be him or Allardyce in the circumstances.
If Everton bring in Martinez (as I’ve seen mentioned on Twitter) I really think they’ll drop. They may well drop with Dyche also but he’s a better bet for this particular assignment. It won’t be pretty though.

Everton need too many players to sort it out, and due to the FFP they are under, they are screwed.
I want them to go, but rather like us, they would benefit from relegation, they can't afford to 'change' in the prem.

Would be nice if people didn't fight on here like drunks outside Wetherspoons.
Anyway, Lampard, and by extension Everton's results, is a symptom of Everton's lack of focus, not the cause. They spend a lot of money and just hope it clicks, but they attempting to scrape results in a league where half the teams have over the last decade made concerted efforts to find a sporting models viable within their particular budgets. City, Liverpool, Arsenal and ManU obviously have their $hit together (ManU less so until recently, but Ten Hag is being allowed to implement his philosophy), Chelsea have been a bit slapdash the last few years, and flukey Champions League out-of-nowhere aside, it kinda shows. Then you have Spurs, who are the Everton of the top six. Aimless spending, unfocussed.
This kind of pattern repeats throughout the mini-leagues within the league. Brighton are focussed in how they play, how their transfer policy is aligned with that playstyle, and look where they are. Same for Brentford. Wolves had a kind of focus for a time. They've had a bit of a blip, but I think they'll recover. Palace put faith in Viera and let him build ground-up. It's going well.
Then of the unfocussed teams you've got Southampton, whose well — their academy — has dried up, and the cracks are appearing now their conveyor belt has slowed down. Then you've got West Ham, who are totally slapdash, just like Everton and Spurs, and who could finish top four or bottom three on the flip of a coin. That's where Everton are, and it doesn't matter if it's Lampard or Dyche or Martinez or Allardyce, without a saviour like Ancelotti they will struggle because the manager will be cobbling together a side of relative misfits. If Everton survive this season, I genuinely fancy us to finish above them next year because we have our $hit together where they do not. We know precisely what we want in every position, whereas Everton bring in talent and conjure up a system. Our style precedes our transfers. For Everton, it's the opposite.

Unrelated point, but the edit function needs to be reconsidered on this site. Some typos in the post I made above which make it clunky to read, and which I'd like to correct but can't because you have two nano-seconds to make edits before it's locked out.
I know that the edit function was changed because someone was abusing it which was causing problems for the moderators, but could it not please be reconsidered?

Southampton were sound in recruitment and the academy whilst the German had control, from league one to 4 top 8 finishes. He sold overall control to a Chinese in 2017 and its gone downhill ever since.
Having the right people in charge of your club is essential to success, unless the money is a bottomless pit.

You're obsessive dislike of the the most succesful manager we have had in decades is completely bizarre, and at times sounds like you need to speak to someone. Did you only start watching us in 2019? Give it a break it is completely and utterly boring. Dyche did, what he could, with what he had, and in the 30 years i've been going on it was quite exceptional in comparison to other eras.
Everyone is thrilled Vinny is here and he is doing sensationally well, but please, stop dogging Dyche. For most true Clarets, the man is a legend.

I made an of the cuff humorous comment and the Dyche lovers roll in because they cannot accept he’s gone and people don’t like him.
If and and when the opportunity arises again I will have another pop, because it’s funny and relevant and also because it winds up those who are über backwards.

Don't think Dyche as any chance of going to Everton if Frank goes I don't think he could handle the top players , you only have to look at our club and a couple of players were not going to sign contract extension if a certain person was still at the club . I might be wrong but I personally think a club in the premiership would only take Dyche similar to a fat Sam in a desperate situation.

I’m no fan of the brand of football Dyche played during his time at BFC. I am also wise enough to understand that it was a highly pragmatic approach that was effective for the budget and for the players we were able to attract to the club.
In regards to those players who may or may not have had concerns with Dyche; we just don’t know what those conversations looked like, or what impacted the relationship. Dyche may have been protecting the club around budgets, retaining players when they wanted to move, or just not offering game time in his system. We just don’t know, so we can’t say with any certainty who was to blame.
I am interested to see Dyches next job and who he chooses to take with him in his backroom staff. That’ll be a big indicator as to his direction for me.
I think he’ll adapt, he’s an intelligent and reflective man. I think he’s a top top manager that could and should be given an opportunity at a top six club one day.
We should be thankful for all he did for this club on the pitch, and off the pitch.
