Seems to be divided opinion about getting him back.
Games slipping away for Saints, so yes, you would have thought they'd have brought him back immediately if they were gonna do it.
Lets hope you're right.

If any Southampton fans are reading this, can you enact any recall clause you may have please. He can't shoot, he's slow, a bit lazy, and he's costing us loads of money. Can't even hold a place in a fairly average championship team, that's why Zaroury and Benson have been playing a lot. Bit of an attitude from what I can tell, doesn't even look happy to be playing. Nowhere near a championship footballer, never mind a premier league player. We don't want him for the second half of the season, you can take him back. Not that he'll be of any use to you, because like I said he's basically rubbish and nobody should sign him.

I think the point one of them makes is spot on. Tella is playing in a team playing free-flowing football and full of confidence, where we're playing the game for the most part in the opposition half. Take him back to Southampton and not only is it a step up, but it's entirely a different on-field circumstance.
He probably isn't the "savior" to their woes

It would be unfair on any young player, to carry the weight of expectation to drag the Saints to survival.
It wouldn't work, and could knock back a real talent. He's better off with is for now. Whether Jones sees it that way is anybodys guess

I agree, he's nobody's saviour. He won't be able to help them. They should probably try to make some money on him, in fact.

He's not PL ready yet and if they really wanted to make use of him, they should keep him here to get valuable experience for a season in the prem next year or have his championship experience should they go down.
Giving him 5 mins a game for the next few months won't do nothing for them

You would hope Tella would have a meeting with Saints should they push to have him back, and he would want assurances about appearances, starts and game time

Very interesting read. I do like the comments we are getting from other fans. Makes a change from the accusations of ‘anti-football’ we were getting. People actually like us now, it’s a great feeling chaps, bloody great.

Really like him but in that he struggles to get in our team in the Championship that is in itself an amazing thing, we truly are blessed with talent out wide.

To recall him they have to have included that clause at the beginning of the loan. There's always talk about loan recalls, but no one really knows for sure if that clause even exists.
In most loans, it doesn't.
Interesting that someone mentions his first touch being poor. He has the best first touch I've seen from a player for some time.

Wouldn't put him in the top 5 in our squad for first touches, Zaroury is twice as good we his first touch.
I like Tella but with the strength we've got I wouldn't be too upset if he went back he's our third choice winger for me now

I'd agree about the first touch, and winger, but we have no one who attacks through the middle, with pace, like he does. If he went back it would significantly weaken our attacking options, because JayRod and Ash can't do it.

His touch when earning a pen at WBA from Muric's long kick is still in my memory. As good if not better than what you can see in the PL

Looking at the recent games I think Tella has been better than Zaroury ,but we don’t know if the World Cup has had an effect on him, can’t forget the pass that Tella did off his back though ,he’s no dummy.

Zaroury has the best first touch in the squad, he kills a ball dead regardless of where it comes to him, chest, thigh, knee, shin, foot, it’s as good as I’ve seen in a Claret shirt.
Tell has more pace than Zaroury so there is always a trade off.
If you combined the two you’d have an elite elite player who’d be playing for Man City, not us or Southampton!

Tellas first touch is very good. He’s an explosive player who’s main weakness for me is that he is too lightweight. I think he’s actually more suited to the premier league where he would have more referee protection than in the Championship. Some teams just rip right into him ( Same as Benson ) making it hard to get into the game.

Orsic set to sign for Southampton from Zagreb. They shouldn’t count their chickens on that one till it’s formally announced though! But that could be good news re. keeping Tella.

Try to watch more closely when Tella receives the ball, more often than not he brings the ball down perfectly without needing to break his stride.
In that respect he reminds me very much of Danny Ings whose first touch at times is sublime.

He’s excellent and alongside Maatsen and to an extent THB have been instrumental in giving us that touch of Prem class across the pitch . Add in the likes of Benson and Zaroury it’s no wonder we’re storming the division . Hopefully Tella stays as he’s be a huge loss.

Certainly plucking it out of the air, I agree.
Players like Benson, Zaroury, Tella are just much better technical players than we’ve seen since your Ings, Trippier & Defours, it’s great to watch

Genuinely think the lad would rather saw his ******** off than go back and play for Nathan Jones in what will be a certain relegation campaign, as opposed to Kompany and a title charge. Premier League or not.

I dont know about every league but the Premier League clubs have to put in a clause which means they have the option to recall in January. I dont know why but they all have to have it although its very rarely used, but they do.
I will try to find the ruling, I remember reading it when we signed Danny Drinkwater and people worried if he performed well he would be recalled...

I do watch closely that's why I've noticed that a lot bounce off him too, a ball in to his feet he struggles with at times.
I agree though that when he plucks it out of the air it is very good control.
I'd say Danny Ings has much better control than Tella though

I don't think he was intimating he wasn't very good at taking a ball, only that Zaroury is better, and he is. But that's just being pedantic, they are both excellent.

One of the ironies (and there seems to be more every day) is that Tadic has agreed terms with Southampton and could well be playing in the Championship next season.
It does make Tella's return less likely.

I don't think it's mandatory but I may be wrong. Clauses today can be complicated:
https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com ... ry-reports
Premier League to Premier League club loans may opt for a clause just so they can then loan another player in January. This is because with those loans you can only have 2 active at any one time and 4 in total in a season.
A player can only be recalled within a transfer window anyway unless agreed to by both clubs (eg if the player has a bad injury).
Tellas first touch is sublime. I'm kinda shocked to see people state it's not if I'm being honest. Maybe we have just focused on different moments when watching games.

Agreed his touch is amazing, if anything, I think he needs to work on his delivery from the wing, he compensates by running inside with the ball which serves him well. But if he could put a decent ball in the box it would put him on another level. Probably why we have him though

He's not bad, but in the same way that John Deary has never been replaced in centre midfield, no player has come close to being able to control a ball as well as David Eyres.
Super Johnny Francis on the other hand could trap a ball further than I can kick it.

Now cup-tied and Soton through to the 4th round. It's only marginal but it's a slither of a reason not to recall him and take up a squad place with a player unavailable for their cup run.
Not that it matters - 75% of Soton fans have made their views on him very clear.

Not exceptionally poor exactly but I do know what you are saying.
I posted after Swansea that there’s rarely an in between with him, does some stuff extremely well then other stuff really poor.
Kinda agree that I hope we don’t spend more than 10m in the summer on him (unless he improves more). We just need someone else who can do that direct central running though.

Scoring against Birmingham he had a long time to think about it, all the way from the halfway line, but put it away superbly.
