Which players from the past would suit our team today

Just for a bit of fun and discussion.
If you could pick 1 player from the past who would instantly improve our team who would it be?
I would pick Robbie Blake. Because he was exceptionally skilful with the ball at his feet and deadly at set pieces. He’d fit in anywhere across the front 4 in our current team aswell.

Cornet minus his unfortunate calf injury.

I couldn't narrow it down to just one, but I think Vydra would suit our style.

A bit of a shame for the lad. We escaped one there with the sale though. He would have been very good under Kompany in this system.

Defour no doubt would be majestic in a ball dominant team like this

Would have loved to have kept Collins. The right age, very comfortable on the ball and looked a Rolls Royce at times. Can’t argue with our two current CBs however.

Steven Thompson. Capable of playing as the target man, but also excellent with his feet and bringing others into play.

A bit of a cheat this, but the young Jay Rod of his first spell - bit more pace, carried the ball more - would have been absolutely tailor made for this team (and Semenyo is probably the modern equivalent).
Defour is the obvious one from the Dyche era, but Trippier would also fit like a glove and I'll give a shout out to Steven Fletcher as a centre forward I would guess would have appealled to VK.
Shout out to Glen Little circa 2002 too.

Or indeed Ian Cox, who was a similarly dependable but ball-playing defender of that era, and invariably hugely underrated IMO.

Come to think of it Michael Keane would have been an absolute beast at centre half in this system. He had all the attributes including pace so could push higher up the pitch aswell and press the play further .

Willie Irvine. Although he was before my time, imagine a striker with his scoring record on the end of chances created by Zaroury, Benson, Tella and co.

I love Robbie Blake with a deep passion but I cannot imagine for the life of me why people would want to see him in this team. Hooked after about 5 minutes for refusing to press I reckon.

Trevor Steven would be perfect for this team. Superb ball control, short and long passing game. Could shoot or centre a ball with either foot and was a strong runner. He was also something of a free kick specialist if I remember.

In terms of what we need most, ings would absolutely finish this side.
Who would fit best, Defour would be magical on the ball the amount we have it. Cornet would score loads but where would he play?

Tempted to say Nick Pope, but kicking may be an issue, so I'll go for Tom Heaton.

Another for Willie Irvine. Not before my time and was a goalscorer supreme in an era when there were plenty about. Penalty box, six yard box he was so quick of movement and thought. Can't recall Willie scoring from outside the box but I'm. sure someone can correct me on that. Kept himself very fit and available, too unless attacked by a thug.

Dobo in midfield and we would only need two in there. Tackled, carried, passed to perfection and a goalscorer.

Brian O'Neil.
The team is fine, but with promotion on the cards, we need an enforcer to launch the likes of Anthony Gordon, Harry kane and the myriad other diving cheats over the advertising hoardings just so that we don't lose track of our roots.

Blake would not suit this side at all. A good player, sure, an excellent one, one of our best. But not for this side. Not suited at all.
Danny Ings though? In this side? High press? Dropping deep? On the shoulder of the last man? Clinical? Tailor. Made. Yes please.
